The Topic: Our Clothes

The target level: Junior Grade 2

Number of lessons : 5-6

Task (1) Students have a pair-work interview to collect information about when and why people should wear suitable clothes.

Task (2) Students have a group-discussion to design their favorite school uniform, then write a passage about their designed school uniform.

Task 1 Task 2

Purpose To understand why people should wear suitable clothes on different occasions.

To decide what their favorite school uniform should be like

Context An information collector. A school-uniform designer

Process Students in pairs report a fashion show to know some kinds of clothes with Chinese unique characteristic. Then they have to know when and why people should wear suitable clothes on different occasions. They finally learn what kind of materials and styles they can design their favorite school uniform with.

Students discuss in groups to gather opinions about their favorite styles of school uniform from their peers. Then the teacher collects all and makes a list of common ideas on the blackboard. At last the students write a report about the new school uniform.

Many people have to wear uniform. What kind of uniform do people wear? When and why do they wear their uniform? Students interview one of the classmates who pretends to be one of those who wear uniform. Then exchange roles to get more information.
