1. Listening and Speakinga. Look at the picture and discuss the

following questions in pairs. This activity is designed to introduce ‘birthday’

topic. Learners are required to talk about a picture ofa birthday party.

First, you can ask your learners to look at thepicture carefully to understand the context of theactivity and activate their world knowledge. They canalso make some guesses about the activity. Thenthey can read the given questions and discuss themwith their friends. When they finish, you can providethe necessary feedback.

Encourage students to talk about their dailyhoroscopes.

First, ask your learners if they read their dailyhoroscopes in the newspaper or not so that you canactivate their world knowledge and life experiencesto create the context of the activity in their minds. Youcan also ask them if they believe horoscopes or not.You can remind them to support their ideas withexamples.
