Statutory Services• Put in place by an Act of Parliament and funded
by the government, although some charges are still made to individuals.

The Secretary of State of Health has overall responsibility for all NHS delivery and performance.
Jeremy Hunt is also involved in a charity that helps AIDS orphans in Africa.

Private and independent care
• Some health and social care services are privately funded. This means that people either pay directly for the service or have private healthcare insurance.
• These are monitored by the CQC to ensure a high quality of care.

Voluntary Care• Organisations that provide voluntary
care include charities and local voluntary initiatives. Volunteering is a good way to increase confidence and learn new skills.

What is………Informal care – Health Relatives, neighbours or friends that
care for the person.
They may receive a ‘Carer’s allowance’ from the government but they usually do this task out of concern for their loved one.
They are a valuable community resource because they reduce the costs for the state and they know the patient best
