Another thing is that it is very rude to say you’re full.

Language points

full 常用于“ be full of ...” 结构中 , 意为“充满……的” , 强调状态 , 相当于be filled with 。The glass is full of milk.

I thought that was pretty strange at first, but now I’m used to it.一开始我认为那非常奇怪 , 但是现在我习惯了。be used to 意为“习惯于” , 在这里 to 是介词 ,后面可以接名词、代词或动词 -ing 形式 , 其疑问句或否定句形式主要体现在 be 动词上。Are you used to the weather here? 你习惯这里的天气吗？He isn’t used to traveling by train. 他不习惯坐火车旅行。

be used to 结构可以用于各种时态中 , 其中的 be 还可以用 get, become 等词来代替。

remember: sometimes it’s polite to make noise when you’re eating ,especially when you’re eating noodles. It shows that you like the food. Second, it’s rude to stick your chopsticks into your food. And you shouldn’t point at anyone with your chopsticks. Finally, this isn’t about table manners exactly, but you should know that it’s rude to eat or drink while walking down the street.

Table Manners in China

Talking about eating habit, unlike the West,

where everyone has their own plate of food, in

China the dishes are placed on the table and

everybody shares.

Chinese are very proud of their culture of

cooking and will do their best to show their

hospitality.

And sometimes the host will serve some

dishes with his or her own chopsticks to

guests to show his or her hospitality. This

is a sign of politeness. The right thing to do

would be to eat the

whatever-it-is and

say how yummy it is.

If you feel uncomfortable with this, you can

just say a polite "thank you" and leave the

food there. There some other rules about the

eating custom in China.

Make sure the spout ( 茶壶的嘴 ) of the

teapot is not facing anyone. It is impolite to

set the spout facing towards somebody. The

spout should always be directed to where

nobody is sitting, usually just outward from

the table.

Never try to turn a fish over yourself. People

believe that car accidents will happen or a

fishing boat will capsize ( 翻 ) if you do so.

This is especially true to southerners in China

(such as Guangdong, Guangxi and Fujian

provinces, etc.)
