BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER SCRIPT ANALYSIS

This tells you the exact details of when the script was written, who it was written by and the name of the episode.

"CUT TO" is a direction which tells the camera crew or the editor where the next frame should start or end.

"INT. CLASSROOM - CONTINUOUS" This tells the actor where the scene is set, being that its interior or inside a classroom. 'Continous' goes with "cut to" so just because it says cut to, they can be in the same place as before they cute to a different frame.

'GIRL' and 'BOY' are the names given to the characters. Since the script needs to be written fast, the writer doesn’t give the characters names, but also because they are minor characters.

"Silent." and "He moves to kiss her" are simple stage directions for the actors to follow.

WAR OF THE WORLDS SCRIPT ANALYSIS

"(MUSIC: MERCURY THEATRE MUSICAL THEME) This is a stage direction, it tells the actor and crew when the music is supposed to be played and what type of music is going to be played at that particular time.

Names of the characters indicate who is supposed to read their lines when needed.

"(MUSIC PLAYS FOR A FEW MOMENTS UNTIL PIECE ENDS... SOUNDS OF APPLAUSE)" This is another stage direction but this time the script writer has used ellipses - a form of punctuation to tell the technical crew when to use the sound of applause.
