USAGE

• used to talk about differences between 2 things, people, events

– The spaghetti is more delicious than the pizza.

– She's taller than he is.

– The second lecture was longer.

• comparative form often used with “than”

SPELLING RULES

• adjs ending in -e, add -ernice-->nicer

• adjs ending in a consonant + -y, change “y” to “i” and add -erbusy-->busier

• most adjs ending in vowel + consonant, double the final consonant and add -erbig-->bigger thin-->thinner

– DO NOT double consonants in words ending in -w

slow-->slower
