    by Reverend Sun Myung Moon

This address was given July 10,2003 at the Opening Ceremony of the WCSF in Seoul.

espected present and for-mer heads of state, emi-nent religious leaders, leaders in various fieldsfrom countries around

    the world, young people represent-

ing each major religion, ladies andgentlemen:

I sincerely welcome you to theRepublic of Korea and the ninth World Culture and Sports Festival. The Korean Peninsula is my home-land and also the place where God will bring His providence of restora-tion (providence of salvation) to itsfinal conclusion.

From when I was a boy, I hadamazing spiritual experiences that enabled me to know God and commune with Jesusand other saints. Through profound spiritual experi-ences, I plumbed the depths of God’s will and heart, and examined the heavenly way and the original path

of human life.Human life does not end with the death

of the physical body on earth. In the heav-enly world, that is, the spirit world, the saintsand sages and also all of our ancestors liveas spirit selves, which is a form of human

existence that is of a higher order than thephysical body. Compared with the funda-mental world that God created, that is, theinfinite and eternal world, this world of nature where our physical bodies dwell is nothingmore than a minute part.

The spirit world is an eternal world, andit is also the fundamental and essential worldthat is the subject partner to this world of reality. I have invested a great deal of sin-cerity and dedication into the effort to recov-er principled communion and linkage between

the earthly world and the spirit world, which was sev-ered by the human fall. This has been a truly difficult task that would not have been possible unless theappropriate conditions had been set on earth and in

heaven. Recently, in accordance with God’s will, I am able to work

through mediums to send instruc-tional messages to spirit world, and receive exact responses tothose instructions and reports onthe actual situation there. What is even more amazing is that therepresentatives of the five major religions gathered in one place todeclare that God is the Parent of humankind, declare that I am thesavior and messiah of humanity, affirm that the Unification Princi-ple is a message of peace for humansalvation, and affirm that the peace-ful unification of the cosmos will be completed through true loveand through the “life lived for thesake of others” on a level tran-scending religion, nationality, and

race. They further resolved that they would attend the True Par-ents and harmonize, unite, anddevote themselves for the sake of God’s Kingdom and world peace.

These events happened in thespirit world as the new millenni-um was beginning. God’s will inthe providence of restoration has been extended through the Old Testament Age, New Testament  Age, and Completed Testament  Ages, but now I am indemnifyingall this completely so as to bringabout a final conclusion within thecurrent generation. That is why good spirits in the spirit world cen-tering on the five great saints are

testifying to these things and active-ly cooperating. The spirit world isthe fundamental world and in thesubject partner position to the

physical world, so whatever happens there is sure tohave an impact on earth. Many spiritual phenome-nons have begun to take place, and resolutions con-taining the same content are being made with increasedfrequency. The World Culture and Sports Festival didnot begin on the basis of human thinking alone. Its

motivation lies in the will of God, and it is conducted with the full cooperation and support of the spirit world. It is a celebration to offer the champions of love to God.

I ask you to remember that the good ancestors of all the participants as well as the religious leaders inspirit world are sending you their encouragement fromthe spirit world. One important mission of religions isto educate people properly about the spirit world. If people knew with certainty about God and spirit world, they would fulfill their divine calling and responsibil-ity with conviction and hope, and through that become whole.

In the present age, many countries are realizing that the security of their nation is not an issue that can beaddressed by any country alone. No country is freefrom international issues such as war, terror, and thethreat of nuclear weapons. World leaders agree that harmony and cooperation among religions is neces-

sary for the sake of world peace, and this is even moreimportant following September 11. For the past fifty  years, I have warned about the dire threat of conflictsand war among religions, and finally now people are beginning to understand the seriousness of these issues.

Reconciliation and cooperation among religions isa prerequisite to world peace. The important events of the World Culture and Sports Festival are intended tocreate lasting harmony among religions.

Leaders, particularly religious leaders, must under-stand the importance of the true love lineage of peo-ple and teach this correctly. God’s will in creating thefirst man and first woman as the ancestors of humankind was that they would each become perfected in truelove and bring about a healthy reciprocal ideal as hus- band and wife, thereby establishing a family center-ing on God. In this way, their descendants were to havemultiplied generation after generation as God’s peo-ple.

Our first human ancestors failed to complete thefirst family that would have been formed through God’smarriage blessing. They fell by creating a bond to Satan’sfalse love, and were expelled from the Garden of Eden. As a result, they established a family that had no rela-tion to God’s true love. Adam and Eve failed to becomeGod’s son and daughter of goodness, a husband and wife of goodness, and parents of goodness. For thisreason, humanity had its origin in false parents andfalse ancestors, and has multiplied evil descendants by passing on a false lineage.

The first human ancestors failed to pass on God’strue love, true life, and true lineage. Humanity descend-ed from false ancestors and must, by destiny, endeav-or with true love to recover the true family that Goddesires. True love, true life, and true lineage are allimportant, but among these, true lineage is particu-larly precious, because it transcends the life span of

a single person and connects one generation to anoth-er. You representat ives of youth who have gathered

transcending nations and religions, you are the most important participants in this festivalseeking to bring about a new world of the true love culture of heart. You pos-sess things that are truly precious. Youpossess those qualities, such as youth, fervor, purity, righteous spirit, and bravery, that are closest to God’s nature.Because of this, God desires to be with you. You should use your open mindsto go beyond the barriers of exclusiv-ity, antipathy, conflict, and hatred toset the roots of religious harmony firm-ly in the ground.

One thing I have practiced and taught through my life is the breaking downof barriers. We must rise above differ-

ences of race, religion, andnationality and live togeth-er. We are all members of a “one world family livingin brotherly heart” cen-tering on God. This must

not be a mere slogan or rhetoric; we must actual-ly live this way. God placesHis greatest hope in the young university students. We must transcend theconsciousness of belong-ing to an exclusive race, language, religion, coun-try, or culture.

I would like to give youa truly precious teachingtoday. People, particular-ly young people, must understand correctly about the value of the love organs, and treat these precious-ly. The love organs in their

original purity are the cen-ter and origin of love, life, and lineage. The consum-mation of love, as well asthe conception of new life,is possible only by meansof the love organs. With-out the proper use of thelove organs, the parents’lineage cannot be passeddown to the next genera-tion. For this reason, thelove organ is the most important part of thehuman body. Unfortu-nately in the fallen socie-ty, the love organs are mis-used in t oo m any  instances.

The worldwide trend of the current social and cul-tural environments, par-ticularly through movies, music, journalism, and theInternet, is misleading peo-ple to misuse their loveorgans. Young people areeasily swept away by the waves of free sex that areruining countries, and break-ing apart families. This is a tragic reality. It is time for religious leader and other leaders of conscience to raisetheir voices loudly in support of what is morally right.

In every culture, the preciousness of the family must  be recovered, and a proper standard of ethics for loverelationships between men and women must be estab-

lished. It is here that we find the reason for the mar-riage blessing ceremony of true love through True Par-ents and why a movement of young people for pure lovemust spread throughout the world in a manner that transcends nations and religions. The precious signif-icance of the inter-religious and international Holy Blessing Ceremony that will be held on July 13th can be found here.

I have encouraged people to participate in marriages blessing that transcend nationality, race, culture, andreligion. I particularly promote the exchange marriage blessings between peoples of nations that were formerly enemies. I have done so for Koreans and Japanese, white and black Americans, Christians and Moslems, and Israelis and Palestinians. When this effort becomesuniversal, think how much it will shorten the path tothe world of peace. By practicing love for our enemies, we can make our leadership manifest, tear down the barriers in our minds and bodies, and bring about God’s world of peace in which sincerity and dedication

    are offered in truelove.

Respected worldleaders, we havelong spoken of theUnited Nations as

the most represen-tative organizationfor peace. As we cansee in the U.N.’s growth from 51 member states to itscurrent 191 over the past 58 years, the internal andexternal environment of this organization has changedenormously. The U.N. has many accomplishments, but it now faces many challenges both from within andfrom outside. There are many limitations and prob-lems, including the issues concerning special rights inthe Security Council, fairness between powerful and weak countries , the power of imposing compulsory sanctions, and budgetary issues.

If the U.N. in its activities ignores the spirituality and importance of religions, it will bring on itself a fatesimilar to that of a body without a conscience. In a multipolar world, the U.N. has become a body without a mind, become unable to deal effectively with the prob-

lems facing the world, and has lost its impartiality inanalyzing world issues, causing it to favor one side over

another. If the U.N. continues on thispath, it will not achieve the purposes for  which it was originally founded, and, far from developing further, may face a cri-sis that will decide whether it will con-tinue or be forced out of existence.

For the past 30 years, I have watchedthe U.N. with hope and concern to see whether it would become an organiza-tion for true world peace, and over thepast four years I have taken every oppor-tunity to call for the renewal of the U.N.My plan for the renewal of the U.N. is to

establish an inter-religious council with-in its structure as an organ of superi-or position. Fortunately, the represen-tatives of the Philippines and the Unit-ed States , with the support of severalcountries, are going to submit a planfor the renewal of the U.N. to the 58th

General Assembly in September. I amconfident that many countries will coop-erate so that the United Nations can become an energetic structure centeredon God bringing about true peace.

In the spirit world, the five great saints and other leaders have already resolved that they will cooperate. Del-

egates to the inter-religious council that  will be created within the U.N. will havethe opportunity to accomplish the idealsthe founders of their religions attempt-ed to achieve, but to do so they will needcharacter and wisdom that are modelsof true love. To do this, religion itself must stand firmly on the path of altru-ism. If religion cannot do this, the inter-religious council will have no value.

Today’s world needs religious leaders who go beyond denominationalism, theself-interest of their own religious groups,

and fanatical extremes to practice true love. The events that make up the cultural fest ival – the

international and inter-religious marriage blessingsceremony, inter-religious youth peace athletic festival, international peace conference, World CARP Conven-tion, Service for Peace – are all for the purpose of worldpeace. I have also built worldwide foundations in theareas of education and the arts. The Sunmoon PeaceKing Cup on the 15th of this month with famous clubsfrom around the world aimed at building a peaceful world of the culture of heart. I believe that over the next few days, under the watchful eyes of the spirit worldand this earthly world, we will make manifest for all tosee our vision for peace, our resolution, and our lead-ership. I am confident that we will inspire the peopleof the world, and create a common bond of heart plant-ing a message of hope.

    A highlight of the

     WCSF is theInterreligiousPeace SportsFestival (IPSF),

in which athletes repre-senting various religionsmeet in friendly competi-tion and a spirit of unity transcending their reli-gious differences, thusplanting the seed of peace.Last July 10, 2003 markedthis significant event. It

was held at the Yu GwanSun Arena, in ChugnnamCity, Korea. IPSF is oneto be the first in the his-tory of sports initiated andguided by the founder of

WCSF, Rev. and Mrs. SunMyung Moon in their noblequest for true and lastingpeace.

The chairman of the WCSF, Dr. Chung HwanKwak, gave the mainaddress. This event was

attended by significant guests namely, the Gov-e rno r o f Chungna mProvince, Mr. Dae PyungShim, the Former President of Costa Rica, H.E. Rodrigo Carazo, and many

other foreign dignitaries. In the founder’s keynote address,

Rev. Moon said that God places hishope in young university students. The

youth must understand thispoint correctly. God does not like free sex; many young peo-ple are being misled by themovies, music, and many badpublications present in thesociety. Therefore he encour-

ages young people to have mindand body united in this cause

of establishing the true ideal of peace, which is beyond religions and nation-ality. Young people need character and wisdom to achieve this and thusmust practice true love. Young peo-ple, being the central figures of IPSF,

will establish the hope of humanity as the seeds of peace. Youth organ-izations such as World CARP will

bring a chance for new personal res-olutions and inspiration to bring sub-stantial peace and an ideal world.

After his speech Rev. Moon received

a resounding applause from the audi-ence and all the participants togeth-er shouted cheers of victory!

World CARP President, Hyun JinMoon, received the Oath of Athletes, handed over by two representative ath-

letes, Il Jae Kimand Akina Nak-agawa.

    In his con-gra tu l a t o ry  remark, theGovernor o f  C h u n g n a mProvince, Mr.Shim, said that

     we a r e no w entering the

global village whe r e the world is becom-

ing one family. As we try torealize we are all brothers andsisters, we must have truefriendship and noble love. Heis deeply moved by this causeof WCSF centering on IPSF, thesacrifice and service it bringsand the sight of the partici-pants and members’ unity andpeace efforts.

The former president of Costa Rica also spoke. He said, “Thisis a good example of livingtogether, working together, and

building efforts to achieving peace. Achieving peace is a personal and

permanent responsibility that shouldcome from within. When you comeand participate in this event, youare making peace.”

During the second half of the pro-gram were outstanding perform-ances by the Colors of Love. They are four young girls coming fromfour different races and nationali-ties ? Korea, Japan, America, andEurope. They sang two of songs enti-

tled, “Come to me” and “Peace in theHearts of Men.”

Other performances were the AewonGirls Marching Band, a Korean tradi-tional dance of “Mugunghwa” (Korea’snational flower the Rose of Sharon),and a Japanese traditional dance “Hana-

    gasa Ondo”.

    by Rev. Michael Jenkins

Hoon dok hae was very spe-cial the morning of July 11at Hannam dong. Only 8leaders were there. Mrs. Won Jun McDevitt read True

Father’s keynote address for the open-ing of the WCSF. Then Rev. Peter Kimread it in English. Through this TrueFather was practicing for his speech.

Religious leaders and religious youthmust take central leadership towards a  world of peace. They must cooperate with political leaders and bring the bless-ing to every nation. Peace must beachieved through the blessing of mar-riage, and the intermarriage of differ-ent religions, races and cultures. Espe-cially representatives of enemy coun-tries should be blessed together. Thisis the key that will finally reconcile allhumanity. Father clearly calls for the

Inter-religious Council to be formed worldwide to advise the UN.

After the speech was read, everyone was so moved at the profound heart that Father was conveying to world leaders. As Rev. Peter Kim mentioned to me later,Father is stating and proclaiming exact-ly what he wants, very straight and very direct. We can truly see that since thecoronation of True Parents on Feb. 6,Father is the king and the world is com-ing together through his love and direc-tion. Father looks better than ever. He’stanned, healthy looking, with good color. His face is full and radiant. Mother looks very beautiful.

Finally, the return of True Parentsto the Fatherland that was initiated at the end of 2002 with the Cheon Il Guk  blessing has taken place. Through Father’sovercoming his trial in March, April andMay, he was able to return to the Father-land. Father has now achieved a com-pletely new level of victory. This is the basis for the reconciling of all enemies at this time andthe forgiveness of all peopleso that we can enter the King-dom of Heaven. Father is onthe eternal throne of Godand at maximum power. If Father gets excited, he hasno lack of energy to go for even 7, 10, or 12 hours. It’sour responsibility now toembody True Parents’ heart, spirit and words so we canfulfill our responsibility andliberate True Parents by heal-

ing humanity. If we fulfill our

responsibility to liberate God and TrueParents by healing humanity, we canlighten the burden on our True Parentsand hasten the expansion of CIG.

We attended breakfast with True Par-ents. Rev. Im, Rev. Sa (the former con-tinental director of Europe, now presi-dent of Segye Ilbo), and several othersattended with Rev. Peter Kim, Dr. Yangand I. Somehow, though I had much toshare from the recent American Lead-

ership Initiative, the 4-day Divine Prin-ciple workshop for Christians, Jews, and Muslims, the Middle East Peace Ini-tiative, and the clergy blessing on July 5th, I felt I should quietly attend TrueParents. Dr. Yang was able to give exten-sive reports the night before so I wasconfident Father was briefed in detail.

Father’s heart is so rich. Omanimkept appearing and encouraging Abon-im to get ready for the trip to the stadi-um in Asan. Because of traffic the trip

would take 1.5 hours and it was already 7:40. Father was to speak at 10 a.m.

and he was still guiding us dressed ina red Izod cardigan and light-coloredpants. Mother then appeared againdressed in a most beautiful white dresssuit with silver trim and sequins, ready to greet the world leaders. Father said, okay, and went on to make one morefinal point to the leaders gathered.

Suddenly Father got up from the table, and stuck out his closed hand, palmdown and waved for me to come over.Father motioned for me to open my hands and then he opened his handand gave me two chestnuts and fiveraisins. I felt only one thing—Father loves America and he’s counting on usto fulfill our responsibility. Because blessed couples in America are rising

up, uniting with the regional directorsand their leaders, Father could expresssuch love. Father loves America and helongs for us to become the nation and

blessed central families God knows wecan be.

As I received this gift of love for Amer-ica, I prayed in my heart that I can sac-rifice more to hasten the day of the fullrealization of God’s kingdom. I respond-ed to Father, kam-sa-ham-nida, Abon-im, from America. True Parents havecreated an ongoing revolution in Amer-ica at this time. Kam-sa-ham-nida. Ihave to say from my heart that the new

development with Rev. Kwak, Dr. Yangand Mr. Joo as a united trinity guidingour work, and the unity all of the lead-ers and organizations in America is cre-ating a new level of relationship betweenFather and America. Let us please sac-rifice ourselves to unite. I sincerely thank Dr. Yang for the way he’s able to report to Father all the details that we share with him, from the smallest testimony of the personal victories of members, tothe victories with clergy and on Capitol

Hill. He presents it all to Father. At this point Father left. To my sur-

prise, Father and Mother were already at the door going to the car. We drovefrom Seoul to the WCSF. Father gavethe opening address at 10:00 a.m. at the stadium in Asan. Also in processionparticipants representing Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Confucian-ism, Sikhism, and all major religionsmarched onto the main floor of the sta-dium. The stadium was absolutely packed with people, including especially 400 world leaders brought by the IIFWP,from all nations and cultures and major religions.

Archbishop Stallings gave the invo-cation, and that was another specialmoment in history. He began by say-ing, “Oh, God, the creator of all life, the

author of the purpose of creation, weare grateful that you have given us the True Parents of humanity who stand asthe messiah, the second coming, the

Lord of the Second Advent, and the Kingof Kings.” The prayer went on beauti-fully. To Archbishop Stallings’ surprise, many of the IIFWP delegates later cameand told him it was the best prayer they’dever heard. Especially surprising wasthe number of Christians that came for- ward. Truly Heaven is pouring out uponthe earth at this time, and proclaiming True Parents’ messiahship is becomingso natural that presidents, kings, queens,

world religious leaders have becomecomfortable with it. As we continue toproclaim it and express True Parents’principle of living for the sake of others, then world leaders feel new understandingand they begin to proclaim it themselves.

Two young people representing theathletes came forward and recited thepledge of the athletes, and offered thispledge to Hyun Jin nim. Pres. Carazogave a welcome address. Rev. Kwak gavea special address, and True Father deliv-

ered his message with boldness, love, and tremendous power. Father stuck

with the text this time. The content wasso deep and powerful. Three giant dig-ital screens allowed everyone in the sta-dium to see everything on the stage.

Father’s message conveyed the needfor the holy blessing of marriage as thepath to peace, and that the Inter-reli-gious Council must now be establishedat the United Nations.

He called on all delegates there tounderstand this is the hour of the sub-stantiation of the Kingdom of God onearth.

The program concluded with six dif-ferent performances, bringing in the beauty of the cultures o f the world, including a Korean marching band, Kore-an folk dance, Japanese folk dance, and

entertainment from all over the world. It was truly a grand opening to the Inter-Religious Peace Sports Festival and the WCSF.

Father’s next major concern for America isthat we fulf i l l our responsibility to bring young students to theLasting Love Confer-ence in Ko r ea on August 1. This is anoth-er historic and provi-dential event. Let us bind our hearts togeth-er as one and go for- ward wi th absolutefaith, love and obedi-ence.

    Right after thepledge ceremony,

utes, God’s true love, and thisattribute is absolute, unique, unchanging and eternal. That is

why God’s lineage is also absolute, unique, unchanging and eter-nal.

What i s the most preciousthing? Love and life are alsoimportant, but the true sons anddaughters of a lineage formed

by the union of true l ives cen-tering on true love are more impor-

tant. The person in the subject position

should be able to take responsibility, and protect others in the object posi-tion.

In the word “Gyohwe (church)”, thefirst Chinese character Gyo is made upof two basic Chinese characters; thecharacter for father over the character for filial piety. In other words, a churchis a place that teaches how to be truesons and true fathers.

In unification, there must be a cen-ter of command.

How can one unite one’s mind and body? I have never felt that my body and mind ever fought, because I wastoo engrossed with knowing God, know-

ing God’s Will, and following it. This isthe way to unite mind and body. Where does God want to live? Should

He live in a house along with his sonsand daughters? God can live anywhereHe pleases forever, and so we shouldconsider in which center He wants tolive. He lives in the center of true love, true life and true lineage.

The people who can connect blood-lines are the daughters and sons-in-law.

There should be weddings of opposites, such as the weddingof an enemy and a saint. From

August 12th to 16th, we will holdthe World Peace Conference andthe wedding of opposites for theSeoul Declaration.

Kinship changes as true love, true life and true lineage devel-ops. As it changes, the love, lifeand lineage of both men and

women improve as well. What does God like the most?

Love? Life? It is hav-ing true sons anddaughters by estab-lishing a true line-age through true loveand true life. How a bo u t yo u? Yo ushould all becomefamilies where Godcan reside, by cen-tering on true love, true life and true lin-

    eage, just like Him.

In particular, True Father gave a short sermon entitled “The RenewalMovement for the Peace and Unifica-tion of the First Realm of Israel is theIdeal of the Establishment of God’sFatherland”. He especially emphasizedthe point that, because the second andthird realms of Israel arose out of thefact that the First Realm of Israel didnot fulfill its mission, even the ThirdRealm of Israel cannot fulfill the idealof the establishment of God’s Father-land unless it regenerates peace andunification of the First Realm of Israel.

At 11:40 a.m., True Father concludedhis sermon, and from 1 p.m. there wasa reporting meeting, in which Rev. Kwak

gave a report on the providence, andRev. Chang-shik Yang also gave a report on the major providential activities in

America, including the “ceremonies totake down the cross” and the Move-ment for the Unification of the First,Second and Third Israels. The Chil Il

Jeol evening entertainment kicked off at 6:30 p.m. at the Little Angels Per-forming Arts Center.

W e are pleased to report that the AmericanLeadership Initiative

     was launched suc-cessfully in Washing-

ton D.C. on June 22–25. Two hundred

Ambassadors for Peace representingall 50 states came together for a nation-al conference on the American Lead-ership Initiative: The World at a Turn-ing Point: The Role and Responsibility of America in A Changing World. TheConference represented the launch of an historic coming together of all thedivergent organizations and profes-sions within that were founded by our

True Parents. Co-Sponsored by the American Freedom Coalition, the Amer-ican Clergy Leadership Conference, the Washington Times Foundation, the United Press International Foun-dation the effort worked through a “Council of Affiliated Organizations”

which includes, the World Media Asso-

ciation, FFWPU, WFWP, CARP, SFPand the Summit Council for WorldPeace.

     The Chairman of this educational

effort is Rev. Chung Hwan Kwak. The Vice Chai rman are Dr. Chang Shik  Yang and Mr. Douglas M. Joo. The

Steering Committee is Co-Chaired by Dr. Thomas Walsh and Rev. Michael

     Jenkins.

The IIFWP, through the AmericanLeadership Initiative has received thesupport of the 200 Ambassadors for

Peace of its proposal for an Interreli-gious Council as an advisory body for heads of state and parliaments through-

out the world as well asthe UN. The InterreligiousCouncil is functioning inan Ad Hoc developmen-tal stage in the U.S. pri-marily through the Amer-ican Clergy LeadershipConference which hasChristian, Jewish andMuslim clerics as the body of it 14,000 religious leader membership.

Congressman Davis was inspired by the ACLCand their work with IIFWPin Israel. Many Jewishleaders are feeling that the ACLC “Take Down theCross Movement” andeffort to repent and rec-oncile is genuine. One

Jewish leader expressedthat this the “First ray of light in 2,000 years !!”

This movement is touch-ing the heart of Jewishpain with a an experien-tial vision of the cooper-ation between Muslim,Christians and Jews inan advisory relations tothe political leaders con-cerning Freedom, Faithand Family. The IIFWP

Chairman Rev. Gi and theIIFWP Pres. and VP Rev.

Abe and Hod Ben Zwi areto be commended for theeffort they made that allowed the Rabbis andothers not only to embracethe Christians in Israel

but once again in Wash-ington D.C. at the Mid-dle East Peace Initiative.

The impact has been enormous. The Ambassador s for Peace are

focused on three key areas: 1. Livingfor the sake of others, 2. Transcend-ing religious and racial barriers and 3.Strengthening marriage and family asthe basis for a healthy moral and peace-ful society.

Led by Congressman Davis and many other key Congressional leaders Co-Chaired with Congressman Weldon the

American Leadership Initiative ban-quet attracted over 80 key congress-men from the U.S. and celebrated Excel-lence in Leadership for the Ambas-sadors for Peace. Over 120 CongressionalOffices were represented. Congress-man Davis at the end praised the courageand vision of the founders of the Ambas-sadors For Peace: Rev. Dr. and Mrs.Sun Myung Moon.

Congressman Davis who serves asCo-Chairman of the IIFWP USA earli-er that week took action in the Con-gressional Record and is encouragingall Ambassadors for Peace to take sim-

ilar action as well as his counterpartsin the parliaments of the world. Lift up

the Interreligious Councils and theadvisory body will provide insight andunderstanding to heal not only the Mid-dle East but the religious tensions that now exist worldwide in the Post 9/11Era. These tensions can be alleviated.

The Ambassadors for Peace have thepower.

Resolutions from the parliaments of the world should pour down like a rush-ing mighty stream because there hasnever been a time when the sensitivi-

ties of religious views and understandingmust be understood and respected for there to be lasting peace in any regionof the world.

May God bless and strengthen youas the Religious leaders join hands withthose who are seeking peace as headsof state and leaders of different fieldscome together with the InterreligiousCouncil.

by Rev. Dr. Chung Hwan Kwak

This is from a speech given on June24, 2003.

he world situation at thepresent time is filled with

both danger and opportu-nity. On the one hand, theshocking and tragic events

of September 11, 2001 rudely awak-ened us from any illusion that the worldis at peace in the post-Cold War era.It also made us very aware that we in

America cannot understand our ownsecurity outside the framework of theinternational situation. Both globalterrorism and nuclear proliferation areserious matters that threaten our secu-rity. Recent tensions in both the Mid-dle East and the Korean peninsula evi-dence the dangers we face at this time.

But while we face profound chal-lenges and threats, our time is alsoone in which we can hope for a brighter tomorrow for our children. Human his-tory does not follow a course laid out

     by fate or total predestination,

but, rather, human history unfolds according to theideas and actions of human

beings. When good peo-ple, who live accordingto wisdom and princi-ple, act courageously and righteously, thecourse of history can

be set on the correc t path to peace and uni-

versal well-being. In this way, goodness and peacemay prevail, where evil andtyranny might otherwise haveruled.

Within human history, even after decades and centuries of noble accom-plishment, there can be no time of

moral relaxation. Surely this principleapplies at the present moment.

Historically, most civilizations haveembraced worldviews that affirm a divine and guiding force in human his-tory. This divine power does not seek to totally control the outcomesof human history, but doesseek to fulfill the divine

will. Here in America, wesay “one nation under God.” That is truly a

beautiful and correct expression of God’sideal. But, God alsoseeks a unified worldunder God’s bless-ing.

The ancient peo-ple of Israel, as record-ed in the Torah, under-stood themselves to be a covenant community, calledto live according to God’s willand called to establish a God-cen-tered nation. As the ultimate originand source of all life and love, God’sheart is not for the well being of any single nation or people. God seeks uni-

versal joy, happiness and peace, throughtrue love. At the same time, in order to achieve this ideal, God works his

will through a part icular individual, family, society, and nation, all for thesake of creating one harmonious worldand cosmos of true love. Individual’sand groups, even within God’s provi-dence of salvation, have their portion

of responsibility. When we fall short or fail, we must repent.

Christianity emerged on the foun-dation of the first Israel and Judaism. It has its roots there. Unfortunately, owing to the rejection and crucifixionof Jesus, along with the history of Chris-tian anti-semitism that followed, there has not

be en en ou gh mu tu alrespect, appreciation, andcooperation between Jewsand Christians. This isone of history’s tragic real-ities, a fact which has

been harmful not only to Jews and Christians, but to the world. For, had

Jews and Christians unit-ed and worked together, they could have donemuch more to help theentire world.

Christianity, buildingon the foundation of itsroots, spread beyond the

boundaries of ancient Israel. Moreover, through the early

Pilgrims and the many devout Christian com-munities who came insearch of religious free-dom, and the oppor-tunity to establish a “city upon a hill” or a “new Jerusalem,”

America was born witha religious vision at

its center. As the rep-resentative and largely

Christian nation, Amer-ica stands in the position

of a central nation in the prov-idence of God, and one with a

similar responsibility to the people of early Israel. That is, America inherit-

ed, as a largely Christian nation, themission to receive and follow the Lordand, in turn, serve the world with truelove.

Of course, American leadership inthe world today is unquestioned. The

recent display of force in both Afghanistan and Iraq, aimed

at undermining both ter-rorism and tyranny, has

made clear the mili-tary superiority of theUnited States. Amer-ica’s position andpower, however, arerooted in deeper con-ditions and quali-t i es . I f Amer ica

departs from itsmoral and spiritualfoundation, and fails

to serve the world witha heart of love and sacri-

fice for the sake of others,it cannot stand as a true “elder

brother” to the world, a true “secondIsrael” in a covenanted relationship

with God. There are internal purposes relat-

ed to the rise of America. Just as thefirst Israel understood its mission inrelation to the coming of the Messiahand the establishment of a kingdomof righteousness, America, too, has

been blessed by God in order that it may create a nation of goodness, andstand as an example of God’s true love

    for all the world.

America’s history in the 20th cen-tury is remarkable. In both World War I and World War II, America played a leading role. After World War I and

World War II, these situations of glob-al crisis gave rise to major peace ini-tiatives such as the League of Nations

and the United Nations. It was in the wake of World War II, with the full sup-port and backing of the USA, that theUnited Nations was formed.

That is, after both World War I and World War II, America quickly movedfrom a display of its strength on the

battlefield to a display of its strengthin beating swords into ploughshares. If America is to be a God-centerednation, it must have a heart of love, forgiveness and reconciliation, eventoward enemies. Even if war or con-flict is unavoidable, in its aftermath,a nation that knows God’sheart and the ways of God,

wi ll qu ic kl y wo rk toestablish peace andreconciliation.

     While the found-

ing of the UnitedNations is a part of

American history,it remains neces-sary for more work to be done, both interms of the renew-al of America and interms of the renewal of the United Nations. For,at this present time of cri-sis—at this “turning point” in his-tory—we need to seriously examine our principles and practices of governance.

At the present t ime the world isuniquely poised for, and in need of strong, courageous, unselfish, and lov-ing leadership coming from both the

United States and the member statesof the United Nations. It is for this rea-son that the IIFWP has proposed theestablishment of an Interreligious Coun-cil at the United Nations. In his addressat the United Nations in 2000, IIFWP’sFounder, Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moonstated that “The existing United Nationsstructure, composed of national rep-resentatives, may be regarded as a con-gress where the interests of each mem-

ber state are represented. However, Isubmit that serious considerationshould be given to forming a religiousassembly, or council of religious rep-resentatives within the structure of theUnited Nations.”

The United Nations, as currently structured, cannot fully benefit from

the spiritual, moral and social vision

that comes from religion. This situa-tion weakens the United Nations as it seeks to carry out its most crucial mis-sion. To correct this imbalance, theUnited Nations should develop a coun-cil of men and women who are unique-ly and specially appointed to the task of representing universal, spiritualand moral principles that are related

to the issues under consideration by the General Assembly. Many of theserepresentatives can be religious lead-ers, and others may be lay profes-sionals in various fields, but who areknown for their spiritual wisdom andexemplary character. Some could benominated for a position on the Coun-cil by United Nations member statesand others by their religions. The selec-tion process should be untainted by narrow or special interests, and, if nec-essary, the final selection should becarried out by a lottery system of somekind. The process should stand aboveany nationalistic or sectarian self-inter-est.

Dr. Moon, from Korea, a land whereChristianity thrives, and a place whereRev. Moon’s own worldview took shape, stands distant from the birthplace of the three Abrahamic faiths: Judaism,Christianity and Islam. Yet, he under-stands God’s heart and His providence. For this reason, for nearly thirty years,he has devoted himself to promotingpeace in the Middle East, especially by encouraging dialogue, respect and coop-eration among religious leaders and

believers. Traditionally, and in part because

o f the c loseness between Judaism and Christianity,

America has a very closerelationship to Israel. Ame rica also has a

    close relationship to

Korea, and remainscommitted to SouthKorea’s protection.Israel, America andKorea are in many

ways at the center of the world’s current

crises. In this respect, America is looking both

East and West as it con-siders its global responsibili-

ties. It is not by accident that thesethree nations are at the center of thecurrent world situation. These threenations have a significant place in God’sprovidence at this time. They are eachrelated in very significant ways to God’sprovidence to establish an ideal nation

and world of peace and goodness. The de-militarized zone [DMZ] that stands between South and North Korea is symbol of the suffering caused by conflict and war. The pain and misery of that place is too deep to be fully com-prehended. This situation should bereversed, and a place of war convert-ed into a place of peace. The DMZ should become a peace zone that pro-

vides a model of peace, harmony andcooperation among people of all races, nations, religions and cultures, livingtogether as one family. Rev. Moon andIIFWP have encouraged the UN to con-sider making the DMZ into a peacezone.

This is from an address given to theIIFWP seminar held at the WashingtonHilton, Washington D.C. on June 22, 2003.

W orld peace and the renew-al of America and allnations is the funda-mental goal of the IIFWPand the co-sponsors of

this conference. This has been the life-long mission of our Founder, Rev. Moon.He sees America as the central nation tolead all the nations of the world towardpeace. Throughout his entire life he hasdevoted himself to the objective of achiev-ing lasting peace. His strategy has beenstraightforward and unchanging.

First, world peace begins with per-sonal transformation of individuals whoare renewed in their personal relation-ship with God. Second, world peace hasits foundation in the family where themost basic personal and public virtuesare learned. The family is the school of love and morality. Third, peace will only emerge as people learn to live for the sakeof others, overcoming selfishness andpracticing the ideal of true love. Fourth, the barriers that divide people must beovercome, that is, barriers created by race, nationality, religion, language andculture.

This can only be accomplished throughthe teaching of Jesus that one must “love your enemy”. Father Moon has lived by this principle all of his life. God has pre-pared religious leaders and people of faithto break through these barriers. These basic principles lie at the heart of theIIFWP vision, guide its worldwide pro-

grams, and shape its approach to our current crisis. Ambassadors for Peaceare central to the accomplishment of such a vision.

Father Moon envisions two basic groupsas being crucial to provide leadership for the nation—the religious leaders and sec-ondly people of faith—men, women and youth who are called by God to work inthe area of politics, academia, media, business, non-governmental communi-ty and social service fields. Religious lead-ers and faith based professional leadersmake up the Ambassadors for Peace.

The religious leaders here are repre-sented in great part by the AmericanClergy Leadership Conference. Arch- bishop George Augustus Stallings and

Pastor T. L. Barrett Jr. and ACLC clergy have been leading a most historic move-ment of Christian, Muslim and Jewishleaders. These Clergy together with IIFWPand its affiliated organizations have beentearing down the walls between denom-inations and religions. They have joined with leaders of other faiths to spark a  worldwide Interreli gious and Interna-tional Blessing of Marriage movement in which marriages are blessed by True Par-ents. Last year 144,000 clergy partici-pated in the blessing expanding through-out the year to millions of clergy andinternational leaders of all faiths.

President Wahid, the former President of Indonesia who is also a religious leader  blessed over 100,000 couples with IIFWP. These blessed couples are pledging to

become True husband and wife, based

on a covenant with God that there will be no divorce or infidelity. The movement of the Blessing is for all Ambassadors for Peace of all faiths and has become oneof the most solid foundations upon whichreligious leaders can stand together inharmony. Through the common groundof marriage and family unbreakable bondshave formed between Christian, Moslem, and Jewish leaders as well leaders of allthe faiths of the world.

Their recent Pilgrimage to Israel spon-sored IIFWP and ACLC opened the door to begin the healing process of the ancient division between Christianity and Judaism. In this effort an explosion is occurringin which the Christian churches areremoving their crosses as it is an impen-etrable barrier to the reconciliation process between Christians and Jews. Theolo-gians at a recent conference at George-town University entitled “The Cross Recon-sidered: Historical Perspectives” reex-

amined the cross and are now discussing what would have happened if Jesus’ fam-ily, disciples and the larger body of cho-sen people had believed in him. This dis-cussion is causing people to “Step Out Of The Box” which is required if we areto come together. Dr. Cain Hope Felder, professor on New Testament Literatureand theologian from Howard Divinity School predicts removing this barrier to Jewish Christian unity is going to spark a revolution greater than the reforma-tion!!

Interestingly it was this historic andcontroversial stand by the ACLC Clergy that attracted the Jewish leaders to thePilgrimage conference. Rabbis who nor-mally don’t meet with Christians weretouched by the courage and sincerity of

these leaders who set the cross aside toremove the barriers with their elder broth-ers. Together all repented for the fact that we have not achieved the Kingdomthat God is seeking. We could agree that  Jesus was misunderstood and that dueto that the Kingdom did not come at that time. Father Moon’s work through IIFWPinspired repentance in such a way that the Christian, Moslem and Jewish fam-ily could come together for the historic Jerusalem Declaration. Many wept at the moment of the signing and though violence continues to break out in Israelour religious leaders feel hope that peace will be realized through this reconcilia-tion process.

Many of you are Ambassadors for Peace

standing as leaders from the professionalfields. Though you are not religious lead-

ers, you are equally important because you are people of faith who have beencalled by God to work as legislators, civicleaders, youth and community leaders who are committed to uplifting the idealsof strong families. The honoring of Par-ents through the National Parents Day Coalition is but one example of the work  you are doing. Ethics based work that  you infuse into all professions is criticalto causing a cultural shift in the direc-

tion of America and the World. Your effortsto inspire family values based legisla-tion, media, economic development andcommunity renewal are the foundationsfor a prosperous and successful society  because it is based on faith in God. Now  you have come together to inspire the world.

3000 outstanding leaders from theUnited States have been appointed by Rev. and Mrs. Moon, our True Parentsas Ambassadors for Peace. 200 are here

tonight for this historic conference. 30,000 Ambassadors for Peace have been estab-lished world wide. However, though your mission is in some ways similar to that of the Ambassadors of the world, your appointment is not as an Ambassador or representative of a nation, religion or people but rather as representatives of God and True Parents. Thus, Ambas-sadors for Peace are God’s Ambassadorsto the world.

This commission originated in theBible. In I Corinthians 5:20 St. Paul wrote,“Now then we are ambassadors for Christ,as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye rec-onciled to God”.

A central theme of IIFWP is that thekey to peace is linked to the relationship

between America and the UN. America,to be secure, must cooperate with thenations of the world. Recently Father Moon gave a special message for the Ambassadors for Peace concerning theinternational dimension of their mission:

In order to realize the ideal of a worldof peace in a fundamental and compre-hensive manner, I once again advocatethat the United Nations establish an assem- bly consisting of representatives from allreligions. At that time, the representativesmust implement the central ideal that their founders sought to realize, and they must do it with wisdom, exemplifying in their personalities a true love that can serveas a model for everyone. I hope that many leaders will take this matter seriously and

continue to strive to establish an assem- bly of global religious and spiritual lead-

ers within the UN.I have worked without ceasing my

entire life for the sake of realizing the onenation in Heaven and on earth that is the will of the true love of God. I did not teachconcepts alone, but I led the way and pro- vided the example.

On that worldwide foundation, I estab-lished the Interreligious and Internation-al Federation for World Peace, and appoint-ed Ambassadors for Peace throughout the

world. That was in order to cultivate lead-ers who will realize the world of peaceand harmony by eliminating the bound-aries that cause conflict and struggle and by serving as living examples of altruis-tic true love. In addition, I am building“Peace Embassies” in every nation of the world as bases for our peace movement and our service movement, and as edu-cational centers to teach and accomplishthe vision and wisdom that our IIFWPadvocates.”

Ladies and Gentleman this is theessence of our mission. We are to bringthe proper balance and cooperation between the world’s religious and polit-ical leaders. This is the path that willlead to peace. America must set the

example for the world. On this occasion we go forth to the halls of Congress to bring a message of hope and vision for the elected officials of our nation. Wenot only bring a message, but also a commitment that from this day forward we want to work together with our elect-ed officials to realize the vision of Godfor America and the World. A vision of faith, family and freedom for all.

We bring a message that encouragesthe understanding that God’s hand of providence is guiding this nation andthat America must become a light untothe world. The Ambassadors For Peaceare God’s representatives to reveal thiscourse and guide this nation accord-ingly.

God chose certain individuals to standat the pivotal moments in history. In thislight George Washington, Abraham Lin-coln and Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. were chosen. The Ambassadors for Peaceshould see themselves in this light, asforefathers not only of a new nation but also of a new world.

Ambassadors For Peace! Now is the Time! The time has come to end thehatred, religious conflict, violence and bloodshed. Now is the time to end thehistory of broken families and brokenhearts!! Now is the time!! From the Sunkissed shores of California. Now Is The Time. From the snow capped Rockies tothe wheat fields of Kansas, Now is the Time. From New York Harbor to StoneMountain in Georgia Now is the Time!!

From Sea of Galilee to the Gaza Strip. Now is the Time. From the East Bank of the Jordan to the Western Wailing Wall – Now Is The Time to realize a world of peace.

The Scriptures say…. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall hum- ble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways;then will I hear from heaven, and willforgive their sin, and will heal their land.”(IIChronicle 7:14)

Our task is great, but Father and Moth-er Moon deeply trust you and believe that God has touched your lives in a special way. You have the power and the author-ity to bring God’s hope to America andthe World.

cal tensions in the Middle East andKorea. In this regard, the United Statesand the United Nations should work closely together, for the sake of the

world. As America emerges from the recent

interventions in Afghanistan and Iraq,it is in a unique position to draw uponits history of peace-making, compas-sion and unselfishness. The recent deci-sion to strike Sadaam Hussein’s regimein Iraq, taken without Security Coun-cil support, dealt a serious blow to the

United Nations. In this sense the very nation that gave birth to the UnitedNations has threatened its relevance,if not its existence.

It is also most important that Amer-icans are aware and sensitive to the

views and feelings that many, many people around the world hold about

America at the present time. Suffice tosay that, fairly or unfairly, there is, inmany places, a deep hurt, anger andresentment toward America and Amer-icans. Of course, what is most impor-tant is not how you or I view this situ-ation, but how God views this situa-tion. Based on all we know of God,through the founders and the scrip-tures of our world’s religions, God seeks

peace and harmony. Thus, war is to beavoided. But, when it occurs, suffering

must be minimized and the peace must  be quickly restored.

At this time, the United States cantake an unprecedented step toward

world peace. While it continues its loyalsupport of both Israel and South Korea,it should show the world its global com-passion and desire for justice. But moreimportantly, America should show the

world its secret of success. That secret is not simply the freedom we value.Rather it lies in the religious and spir-itual life of the people. The roots of

America can be seen in the Pilg rimFathers who sacrificed everything for their faith in God. They put God’s willfor the establishment of his Kingdom

above their own comfort or desire. Inparticular, they remained open to God’sprovidence. This same heart and com-mitment must be renewed in America today. For we stand at a turning point.

It is with this in mind that the IIFWPhas been working since 1998 to shareits vision and build support in every nation around the world for Rev. Moon’sproposal to establish an InterreligiousCouncil at the United Nations. Recent-ly, the Republic of the Philippines hasindicated that it is preparing to submit a formal resolution to the 58th Gener-al Assembly of the United Nations thisSeptember 2003, advocating the estab-lishment of an Interreligious Councilat the United Nations. I hope that the

United States, and many of you willsupport this very important initiative.

The time is right and the need is great. There is too much at stake to allow for delay. This is an historic moment…..a turning point.

Truly, if America takes a stand tosupport this initiative it will be makinga significant step, demonstrating itstrue spirit and character as the lead-ing nation of peace. In this way, it canstand as a loving elder brother to thenations of the world.

God’s desire is much broader thanfor “one nation under God.” God’s eter-nal longing is for one worldwide fami-ly of true love, where all children livetogether in mutual respect, harmony and cooperation: one world under God.

The era of interreligious conflict anddisharmony must come to an end, just as the quarrels among nations must come to an end. In this respect, all reli-gions and all nations should repent for past mistakes, and make a new deter-mination for peace. It is precisely throughthe establishment of an InterreligiousCouncil at the United Nations that theentire world can show its resolve instarting a new history of peace, andending the suffering caused by war, disease, poverty.

America, together with the UnitedNations, can lead the way to a new era centered on God’s will for a unified cos-mos of universal true love and joy. InGod’s ideal, wealth, technology, and

quality of life should be enjoyed by allhis children. There should be no dis-

crimination based on race, religion, nationality, geographical location, etc.

In order to realize this ideal, an insti-tution such as the United Nations isessential. As technology, communica-tions, transportation, and internation-al trade develop, unification will occur more and more around the world. Wesee evidence of this in the increasingtendency toward regional cooperation, for example, in the development of theEuropean Union. This trend will con-tinue. It is unrealistic for developednations to think they can continue toprosper in isolation from teeming mass-es that suffer from disease, famine andpoverty. The United Nations can be the

instrument to facilitate this change. However, and this is so very important, any institution dedicated to peace andglobal governance, such as the UnitedNations, must inherit the vision, heart and love of God if it is to successfully carry out its mission. Hence, the Inter-religious Council is imperative at thistime in history.

We are at a turning point in histo-ry. Let us work together for peace. Let us work together to fulfill God’s will for

America and the world, and let us work together to establish an InterreligiousCouncil at the United Nations. In this

way we can solve the world’s most crit-ical global problems, and end the suf-fering of millions around the world.

W hat an experience! It wassuch a peaceful easy spir-it. But how much effort it took to create Bless-ing. Dr. Yang, Rev. Jenk-

ins and Bishop Kim looked so handsomein their tuxedos. We all missed the pres-ence of True Parents, but could also feelGod’s pride that his children, Dr. Yang,

Rev. Jenkins and Bishop Kim were stand-ing in and taking responsibility for thishistoric Blessing 2003 in Chicago.

The very first weekend after we didour initial mailing, over 120 ministerssent their registration forms back to our church. Bishop Kim was amazed at thisphenomenon.

Then, our three key ministers all left town for Washington, DC. Dr. A. Harold White and Rev. Bennie Owens both left for a week, in order to attend the Amer-ican Freedom Initiative, the Divine Prin-ciple Seminar and the Middle East PeaceConferences in Washington, DC. In addi-tion, Pastor T.L. Barrett, who was host-ing the Blessing, went bouncing back and forth between, Washington, DC,Chicago, UTS and the nation’s capital.

I mean this was one week before thenationwide blessing in Chicago. But Bish-op Kim did not say a word of complaint or issue one statement of fear or con-cern. (Later, when it was all completed,Mrs. Kim mentioned that he did not sleepat home even one time in the month prior to the Blessing—as he spent so many late nights coordinating every minutedetail at the church). And God wouldsend us a power surge at the last minuteas our 2 Chicago evangelists,

Sister Yukimi (24 hours a day on thetelephone—she has every ministers pri- vate number this side of heaven)—Lemont, and Hitoshi (Praise the Lord) Onishi back to Chicago from UTS, to help make straight the way of the Lord. And then three days

before the blessed event, Rev. Jenkinsand Bishop Stallings arrived with spiri-tual guns loaded, accompanied by 5 of Israel’s finest—four professors and our  beloved Israeli member Shelley to helpprepare the way. As any of you who know Rev. Jenkins can imagine, EVERY minuteof the next three days was utilized inpreparation.

First we had an Hispanic prayer din-

ner (the Hispanic Community had pledgedto bring 300 of the 1200 couples com-ing to the blessing (and led by Jon andMarina Acevedo and Rev. Jesse Avila (who also brought his parents all the way from Mexico) they would more than suc-ceed.

Then we held banquets on both the West and South Sides of Chicago.

And the spirit was raging. By the time

Archbishop Stallings (complete with Say-omi and George Jr.) and Rev. Jenkinstook center stage, the room was already aflame with righteousness.

Our Israeli guests, testified to thepower of taking down the cross, our min-isters cried, repented and hallelujahed, and the holy spirit led the way up themountain to July 5th blessing.

Several years ago when True Mother spoke to us after her speech in Chicago

she gave us the following guidance. Shesaid that now the spirit world will helpus so much more than ever before. Shetold us that from now on with the sameamount of effort; we will be able to bringmuch greater result. I really want to givetestimony to this fact.

One example is with my spiritual child. She is a professor of World religions at a local Chicago land college, who is anEgyptian Coptic Christian. She has beento the American Leadership Conferenceand most recently on our trip to Romeand Israel (where she paid indemnity for  being an Egyptian boarding an Israeliairline. She had to wait 4 hours in thesecurity office where they accused her of trying to bring anthrax disguised asEpsom salt onto the plane). In all the years that I have known her I have only met her wonderful engineer husband 2or 3 times, for he is on call 24 X 7 for Commonwealth Edison. One time was when they invited me to meet the Patri-arch of Alexandria when he came toChicago. So when I invited her to the blessing, she gave me a lukewar m,maybe. I challenged her and said that I was going to pull out all of the ICONSthat I bought when I was in Russia andpray that she and her husband couldattend. Then, right in the middle of the July 4th fireworks, my cell phone start-ed top ring. She was on the other endof the line and she said, “Well, I guess you must really have been praying—

T he July 5th Blessing in Chica-go was a special moment inthe dispensation for the Sec-ond Israel. Incrediblehealing and recon-

ciliation occurred as Pastor Bar-rett stood strong on faith. Thesanctuary was jammed with cou-ples from the most prominent

Christian churches in Chicago.Beloved Bishop Kim and Chica-go Family did not hesitate whenFather directed that the bless-ing had to be done on July 4 thor 5th.

Because of the Internation-al conferences in WashingtonD.C. June 22- 29th the bless-ing could not be on the east coast, yet Dr. Yang and I felt theurgent sense that we must fulfill Father’sdirection. Bishop Kim, without hesita-tion stepped up to the challenge. As withthe urgency of going on the Pilgrimageto Jerusalem, I can see that this bless-ing was a key stepping stone to bringingtotal unity between ACLC and the Jew-

ish and Moslem leaders, centered on themost important thing. The Blessing of Marriage.

The most important thing that we arelearning is that when we follow Father’sprovidential direction, not worrying about  whether we can do it perfectly or not, but  just that we faithfully follow, a brick by  brick foundation is laid upon which thenext providence unfolds. Who would imag-ine that by following Father’s directionto publicly read and proclaim the Cloudsof Witnesses testimony of the Saints, there would be such trial where many key clergy, including Pastor Barrett couldnot stand with us? That through this trial we would be driven to bring the clergy tothe Divine Principle, for it is the only way they could understand.

Due to the fact that we followed Father’sdirection we have now taken over 1700clergy through the Divine Principle. Thiscreated a spiritual revolution of propor-tions that is not understood at all. Thispath is sure to bring the victory. We willcontinue the DP convocations—this break-through came from following Father’sdirection. This came due to the fact that  when the testimonies from the heaven-ly realm are read the saints can link their power and spirit with the people whohear their testimony on earth. This allowsthem to continue to work with those peo-ple even thought their initial reactionmay be difficult.

Then we took down the cross in anoth-er incredible revolutionary move. Though

it seemed it would destroy our ACLC foun-dation, Father’s direction and revelationactually set the very condition necessary to heal and open the heart of the Jew-ish Rabbis and leaders. By witnessingthis result, the clergy are becoming deeply convicted in this path. It was the feel-ing we got when we stood in the prisonthat held Peter and Paul in Rome andPaul prayed from such a controversialand unpopular position that Rome andthe world would receive the Gospel.

This is also what we saw at the July 5th Interreligious and International Holy Blessing of our True Parents. ChicagoClergy could not believe that it was beingheld at Life Center. At the Blessing, Rev.Bennie Owens (woman clergy) of Twelve

Gates Baptist Church in Chicago gavethe opening prayer. She took down her

cross on Good Friday and went to Israel. She joined Bishop Stallings and our ACLCpreparation team and she Dr. Shelly theformer women’s federation president fromIsrael wanted to stay together—they bond-

ed because of the end of the cross. They are true sisters. She has become a total believer that this is the Second Comingof the Lord. She stands now as a pillar and Co-Convener of the Chicago ACLC.

Rev. Daugherty was our Master of Cer-emonies. Rev. Daugherty is the one whoteaches True Parents

heart, thought and stan-dard to the clergy; he isthe one that keeps all theclergy together throughthe highs and the lows.He introduced Rev. Bev-erly to open the program.Rev. Monet Beverly, Pas-tor of the Love All Peo-ple’s Ministries and our  ACLC Co-Convener inIndiana, had the YouthDivine Dance Ensembleperform praise dancinglifting up True Parentsand the Blessing.

The youth ensemblecame in praising Jesusand True Parents as one. The led the procession of dance with a 4 x 4 foot  banner (l ike a co ll egemarching band) that had the Family Fed-eration Logo on it. None of us knew it  was going to be like this. These Christ-ian leaders, particularly black ministershave powerful ancestries that have caredtheir faith from centuries of suffering inslavery. Once they commit to somethingin faith, it permeates everything in their lives, their faith becomes their live. The way the black church raises the childrenand the congregation, is holistic.

Now that these clergy believe in TrueParents!! This root in America will never  be uprooted and will only continue togrow and grow. That’s what I felt when

I was looking at over 30 beautiful fami-lies from the Nation of Islam. You’ve seenthem, they love True Parents and feel in

the bottom of their souls that this is theFamily of God. (Dear God, you are sogreat !!! Your love is so profound andcomplete that you are bringing all thetraditions that you started with Islam,

Christianity, Judaism and all major faiths together with a “feeling” of one heart, yet our external differ-ences in traditions, cultures, racesand traditional clothing all become beautifully complimentary when wehave one family under you—madepossible by having True Parents.)

It was in this church—Life Cen-ter that Pastor Barrett introducedus to Minister Farrakhan and a  journey toward the Kingdom of God began. We sincerely appreciate theMinister and the Nation of Islam for their unchanging heart of support and work for the Kingdom. Imag-

ine, Sister Claudette Marie MuhammadChief of Protocol for the nation, sittingin the front row with the Jewish Rabbi,Dr. Joshua “Shuki” Ben Ami from Israel who now says, “it is not proper for me tocall Rev. Moon, Rev. or Doctor. From now I must call him Father!!! Father brought

my family together with my cousin Ish-mael. We must thank God “

Then the True Family Values Choir performed composed of Japanese Amer-ican wives and the Japanese Missionar-ies that came to America. They left their homes and their families with a Moth-er’s role to sacrifice their lives to give birth to a new Christianity and a new Israel. When they sing the saints andmartyrs are summoned and their pres-ence changes the atmosphere. Sacrifice brings the holy spiri t and attracts allthose who have sacrificed and are holy.

How do we know such things. Per-

sonal and direct experience. A few yearsago, missionaries were singing in Rev.Eliot’s church and suddenly he stood up

and asked the missionaries to circle withhis congregation and all would join hands. He proclaimed that he knew that they had left their babies and the husbandsat home and that many can’t endure thepain of separation and many, especially the children don’t understand sometimes being racked with resentment, only increas-ing the tears.

Rev. Eliot explained this as he circledus all in his church. Who is Leroy Eliot? He’s a Baptist preacher—very popular—  yet he observed the ministry of Father Moon for years from a distance. It wasduring the RFK stadium blessing that the missionaries and our sister Sachiyo just kept coming to the church. Finally his heart was touched, he and his wifeKatie came to the blessing at RFK in 1997.It was during Father’s prayer that all of the sudden the holy spirit touched hisheart and he joined the movement. That’s why he testifies on some of our ACLC videos that blessing changed his life andhis marriage.

He says, “I can see better now, I can walk better now, my wife looks better tome now, my children look better to me

    now!—This

thing is real—  you have tocome on intothe inside tounderstand. Thi s is the work of God.”Rev. Eliot cir-cled our sis-t e r s p ro -claiming that their suffer-i ng was a  comfort to themothers of his church. There was a healing balmthat thesesuffering mis-s i o n a r i e s broug ht to

his church family at New Greater St. JohnCommunity Baptist Church.

I’ve been with Rev. Eliot through thehighs and the lows. With him preachingto thousands and people flocking andexperiencing the joy of God’s word andsalvation, only to return back to the hotelroom that night to here that one of his best members sons had just been killed by a stray bullet from a drive by shoot-ing. The young man had just finished hissenior year in high school with a 4 point average. He was working at the local drugstore and had just locked the front door  when the bullet struck him in the head.

This precious child, the son of a great mother in Rev. Eliot’s church. He had just been notified that he received a fullscholarship to the University of Illinoisfor being the top of his class.

This is what I mean by the highs andthe lows. I saw Rev. Eliot weep for thechildren. This particular night he was weeping in the pulpit for the missionar-ies, because he could feel that the moth-er and the others who lost their childrento violence could be comforted by theeffort to heal and revive the Christianfamily. It was there that Leroy proclaimed with tears, oh Lord God, we feel that themartyrs of Christian history who shedtheir blood are now present with us inthe church. They have been brought forth

     because these suffering missionaries from

Japan have come to see us. The martyrsare here family!! “ At that point the con-gregation was all in tears !! My beloved brothers and sisters we cannot fathomthe profound and eternal impact that True Parents are havingthrough this work.

That’s why when the TrueFamily Values choir sang at the Blessing at Life Center— I felt the spirit of the Mar-tyrs and saints enter theroom. All I could feel wasthat I am sorry that I havenot suffered enough and sac-rificed enough to merit their help and presence. I’m grate-ful that though we are not enough True Parents and TrueFamilies suffering is covering us withgrace. Also, through the suffering of our elders (especially Dr. and Mrs. Yang) tofollow God’s direction, a small conditionis set that allows us to link to Father’sinfinite spiritual power.

The Missionaries sang. Keep singingmissionaries, it won’t be long now. Holdon and don’t waiver. It won’t be muchlonger. It is inevitable that America is

going to burst forth with an outpouringof spirit that will cleanse this nation andthe world. It’s time for America to rise up. True Parents, T rue Family have sowntheir blood into this soil. The Korean Lead-ers and National Messiahs, Japanese mis-sionaries gave up their families that this nation would become the Elder Son. Christian martyrs and saintsfrom all faiths and patriots bloodfrom every race has poured ontothe American soil. Slaves inchains with the shackles cut-ting their ankles with bloodflowing down onto the dirt of their prison floors cried out to Jesus to see the day of the Lordand liberation. Today they are

now seeing that their suffering was not in vain. Their prayers have been answered.

It is no wonder that the Black church was the first to understand. Now it not only understands but forged in the firesof spiritual turmoil they have formed the vanguard of suffering love. They are lead-ing the Second Israel according to Father’sdirection. This suffering base, like themissionaries has now become the well-spring to pull down the martyrs not only from Christianity but now the prophetsof Israel who shed their blood to bring light into this world of dark-ness are now stepping throughthis gate.

The Jewish leaders arenow testifying that their 400

years of suffering in Egypt gives them a bond of heart  with the black leaders whosuffered for 400 years inslavery!!! The Jewish lead-ers are testifying that it wastwo things, Christians takingdown their crosses to reach their  brothers and the fact that it wasled by the descendants of slaves opensthe Jewish heart and makes Dr. BaruchShalev (who is a Jewish scholar and leader for peace—feel free to say for the first timein history—”Through the black Chris-tians I feel that their love comes from a place of suffering, If this is what the real Jesus is about then—I Love Jesus”.

Now the American family is rising up

together with the members from all over

the world. American’s who have placedtheir lives, fortunes, families and sacredhonor on the altar of history know what I’m talking about. The patriots and saintstravel with us wherever we go. We havethe power and the authority to transformthis world into the Kingdom of God. Right

Now!!! We shall overcome.Pastor Barrett gave the wel-coming address. His church was

the first in the world to have True Mother speak in 1996.

70 women leaders from hischurch attended Women’s

federation and that is why they supported True Moth-er. Pastor Barrett’s face isshining. Since Israel he hashad such a feeling of confi-

dence and confirmationthat there is no doubt.

This is the work of theLord. He say that True

Parent’s power was bring-ing Moslem, Jewish andChristian leaders together in heart with one another. He proclaimed that only Godcan do this work and he isdoing it only through TrueParents.

It was just a year ago that the hemorrhaging of member-ship from his church and attacksfrom his national denominationmade it so difficult to work with us.Now, through the path of faith the first time the official central Interreligious and

International World Blessing washeld in a church was in Life

Center Family Church of Godin Christ. This is a day of Glory.

Imagine, for the Old Testament Reading in the July 5th Blessing, Rabbi Joshua Ben Ami readGenesis and the Song of Solomon in English andthe original language—

    Hebrew. Then Rev. Leroy

Eliot read Gen. 19:4-6— ”What God has joined togeth-

er let no man put asunder!” Withsuch a short reading the blessing con-

gregation was transformed. Rev. Eliot, with the anointing o f the Holy Spir it, began the cadence over and over againuntil the couples about to be blessed jumped to the ir fee t, “What God Has Joined Together, Let No Man Put Asun-der!”

The holy spir it is now moving withincredible fire and a cleansing spirit

of joy. Dr. H.G. McGhee read withhis deep and rich resonating voice the Clouds of Witness-

es and the Letter from God. Jesus revealed for the first

time in his own home, a Christian church, beforeheaven and earth, and thesaints resolution and thetestimonies from all major religions were read clearly

and slowly. Father Moon isthe Messiah and the Lord of

the Second Advent. The audi-ence proclaimed AMEN!! Glory to

God.Pastor Barrett came to the podium

after the Clouds were read and said, “Weall may have different beliefs and tradi-tions but through the holy spirit today  we have all become one family. I want toask you now to make an offering. We needto give something back to Father andMother Moon for the work of God through

our True Parents. I’m grateful to God to

see this glorious day.”Pastor Barrett asked for the clergy to

give $100 each and for 10 minutes they  just kept coming in a steady stream. Thissealed the Clouds and the testimony of  Jesus with a commitment. Jesus is lib-erated on this day. His testimony wasreceived by his own and now we are one with our True Parents. What wasparticularly comforting to Jesus was the fact that not only wasthe Second Israel there receiv-ing the message but 5 major representatives of Israel that

also accept and believe in themessage. That means that  Jesus own family acceptedhim and is receiving his tes-timony to follow True Parents

receiving the Blessing and becoming True Parents

    ourselves. The video “The Power

of True Love” was pre-sented, which highlights thereconciling and blessing of Pastor Barrett and his wife. Tory Barrett’s beautiful tes-timony of his experience at the 60 couple blessing andthe healing of his marriage.

The testimony of Dr. E.V. Hill,Rev. Edwards, confirmed for

the couples ready for Blessingthat the truly righteous religious

leaders are standing firm with TrueParents. It was thrilling to watch and“feel” the atmosphere that was created. This particular video gives extensive visu-al education concerning clergy takingthe holy wine and the call for all to bless their congregations andmarriages under the power of the Holy Spirit.

Rev. Daugherty introducedme and I began with express-ing gratitude for True Par-ents and the work of Pastor Barrett and Bishop Stallings. Their sacrifices which havetaken them through great test-

ing has also catapulted theminto the center of history. Theevidence of the global impact of this work was the presence and tes-timony of the 5 special Israeli leaders who came and testified that their work  was central to bringing peace in the Mid-dle East and reconciling Jews and Chris-tians and ultimately bringing the Moslemfamily into harmony.

It was truly amazing the list of minis-ters who came for the blessing. Many had assured us that they couldnever walk with us again just one year ago and now they aresitting proudly in the front of the blessed couples with their  wives. Some were even lead-

ing the procession of Con-celebrant Blessed Clergy. Some we thought we wouldnever see again. Some, never  wavered in this path. Rev.Connie Crawford Bansa who was blessed in Pastor Barrett’schurch with Bishop Pak in 1997has never wavered. She and her Father Bishop Crawford led the pro-cession with Dr. A Harold White.

Archbishop G. Augustus Stallings gavea profound and inspired message of themeaning of the blessing. It was unreal. His depth of understanding the princi-ple is exact and clear shaped by years of graduate study at the Vatican guided American University. Bishop Stallingshad the couples standing to their feet.

He is living it. He received his wife from

heaven and knows that the blessing isthe power that fulfills the purpose of cre-ation. Bishop Stallings message clarifiedthat because of the fall the blood lineage was destroyed and God could not dwell with men. Restoration is the course weare on and the blood lineage is now restored

through the holy wine and the bless-ing. True Parents brought this

forth and therefore they are theMessiah, Savior and SecondComing. Jesus has sanc-tioned it, the saints have blessed it and we today

confirm it for history.” God bless Archbishop G. Augus-tus Stallings and Sayomi

who joined him on the stagefor the Holy Wine ceremo-

ny. My wife and I also joinedand all 1200 couples repre-

sented there joined in. Alleluia— God’s lineage is multiplying on

the earth. The prayers of the r
