1. This is the opening scene for this trailer, it shows a warm, sunny day at a graduation. This connotes that this day is important to the film. For the audience they have a positive feeling about this film so far. Which is contradicting to the genre.

2. Using a women’s name connotes to the audience that the women in the first scene is the main character for the rest of the film and it is important for audience to remember the name and the date. This scene also informs us that this film will be using social media and based around it.

3. It’s common for a horror film to feature a news report/ articles. In this scene it is of a clip from a webpage speaking about the same girl in the first scene. At this point the trailer is building up a story.

4. At this point all of the main characters are introduced and the scene is set. All of the characters are found at there homes. The camera angles used are done by using Skype (an social networking site). There facial expressions show that they are having a casual conversation connoting that nothing has happened yet.

5. We as the viewer can see that something bad has happen as that this young females facial expression has changed, we as the viewer link this with the pop up at the bottom of the screen. Using ‘!?!’ connotes to the viewer that the person who has written this message is a young person as that the incorrect grammar is what young people use for social networking.

6. The only lighting used in this photo is reflected lighting which is of the screen of the laptop. The image is distorted and pixelated which connotes that the signal is being lost which creates tension and entices the audience in to carry on watching.

7. The red character connotes blood and violence which warns the audience that something dangerous is going to happen in this film which links to the genre of the film (horror). Also the character is the one used for Facebook which connotes that it involves using social networking sites and that this persona is unknown which creates fear of social networking sites not like any other horror film.
