Fused pyridine derivativesR 0450 Unexpected Oxidation of Azafluoren-9-ones under Baeyer—Villiger Conditions.
— The oxidation of 1-azafluoren-9-one (I) under modified Baeyer—Villiger conditions (A) affords unexpectedly the corresponding N-oxide (II) instead of the expected lactone (III). Analogous mild oxidation of 4-azafluoren-9-one (IV) as well as oxidation under conventional Baeyer—Villiger conditions (B) gives the N-oxide (V) in both cases. — (ANH, L. T.; VOLKOV, S.
