Kentucky Core Academic Standards Key Understandings• The same as the Common Core State
Standards (CCSS)• Released in 2010 and immediately
implemented• Outline end of year expectations at each
grade level• Guarantee increased rigor and
consistency, higher order thinking and application
• Aligned with College and Career Readiness Standards (CCR)
• Progression of learning expectations in English/Language Arts (ELA) and Math
• In grades 6-12 there are content area literacy standards in Science, SS and Technical areas
• There are no new standards for Arts and Humanities. Still using Core Content 4.1– Accountability is measured through
