MR Credit Construction Waste(Review of Prior Webinar ‐ Module 6 on MR)
Question #1:Is the formula in the LH Workbook, MR Tab Cell c106 correct?
(i.e./, c106 = C105/c101)?
Answer:The formula has been fixed, and will be part of the soon to be updated checklist that gets released.
![Page 15: Understanding LEED for Homes v4 - GreenHome Institute · Q & A EQ Credit Balancing Heating and Cooling Distribution Systems Option 1: Multiple Zones Single‐family houses with less](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022040215/5ed1684d103edb27a1224fa9/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)

EQ Prereq Radon Resistant Construction
Question #2:For existing buildings, which duration of radon test is required? Is there a minimum number of days over which the test must be performed?Short term tests are 2‐ 90 days (First Alert sells a 24 hour test for $12); long term tests are > 90 day
Answer:
Short term tests are acceptable (follow manufacturer instructions). All manufacturers do require them to be placed in an area where there will be no outside air present to dilute them.
![Page 16: Understanding LEED for Homes v4 - GreenHome Institute · Q & A EQ Credit Balancing Heating and Cooling Distribution Systems Option 1: Multiple Zones Single‐family houses with less](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022040215/5ed1684d103edb27a1224fa9/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)

EQ Preq and Credit for Compartmentalization
Question #3:Is the Prereq required for all project types, except detached Single family homes? And the credit is available for all project types?
Answer:Yes and Yes
![Page 17: Understanding LEED for Homes v4 - GreenHome Institute · Q & A EQ Credit Balancing Heating and Cooling Distribution Systems Option 1: Multiple Zones Single‐family houses with less](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022040215/5ed1684d103edb27a1224fa9/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)

EQ Credit Compartmentalization
Question #4:In the LH v4 workbook fore this credit, is the formula incorrect? In cell c173, the formula is c172/C171.
AnswerThe formula is reversed and should be c171/c172.
![Page 18: Understanding LEED for Homes v4 - GreenHome Institute · Q & A EQ Credit Balancing Heating and Cooling Distribution Systems Option 1: Multiple Zones Single‐family houses with less](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022040215/5ed1684d103edb27a1224fa9/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)
Review: EQQ & A
EQ Credit Balancing Heating and Cooling Distribution SystemsOption 1: Multiple ZonesSingle‐family houses with less than 800 square feet (74 square meters) of conditioned floor area and multifamily buildings whose average unit size is less than 1,200 square feet (110 square meters) automatically meet the requirements of this credit.
Question #5:For this “automatic compliance case”, are the size limits for single family and multifamily homes flipped / reversed? There are virtually no single family homes < 800 Sq Ft; while in contrast, the majority of multifamily buildings have an average unit size of < 1,200 SqFt.
Answer:It’s correct. A larger area for multifamily is allowed because they have a lower heating/cooling load than single family, and thus lower room by room air flows, and subsequently less pressure imbalances.

IN P1 Preliminary Rating
Prerequisite Applies to • Homes & Midrise
Intent • To maximize opportunities for integrative, cost‐effective adoption of green design
and construction strategies.
Requirements • As early as practicable, conduct a preliminary LEED for Homes meeting, with the
participation of the principal members of the verification and project teams. • As part of the meeting, create an action plan that identifies the following:
the targeted LEED award level (Certified, Silver, Gold, or Platinum); the credits that have been selected to meet the targeted award level; and the party accountable for meeting the requirements for each selected credit.

IN C1 Innovation
Points • Homes (1–5 points) & Midrise (1–5 points)
Intent • To encourage exceptional performance for current credits and promote innovative
performance in pioneering areas.
Requirements • Credit can be achieved through a combination strategies, as described below.
Option 1. Innovation (1 point) AND/OR Option 2. Pilot (1 point) AND/OR Option 3. Additional Strategies (1–3 points)
![Page 25: Understanding LEED for Homes v4 - GreenHome Institute · Q & A EQ Credit Balancing Heating and Cooling Distribution Systems Option 1: Multiple Zones Single‐family houses with less](https://reader030.vdocuments.us/reader030/viewer/2022040215/5ed1684d103edb27a1224fa9/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
IN C1 Innovation (cont’d)
Option 1. Innovation (1 point) Achieve significant, measurable environmental performance using a strategy not addressed in the LEED Green Building Rating System. Identify the following in writing: • the intent of the proposed innovation credit; • the proposed requirement for compliance; • the proposed submittals to demonstrate compliance; and • the design approach (strategies) used to meet the requirements.
AND/OR Option 2. Pilot (1 point) • Attempt and achieve one pilot credit from the USGBC’s LEED Pilot Credit Library.
AND/OR Option 3. Additional Strategies (1–3 points) • Innovation (1–3 points) • Pilot (1–3 points) • Exemplary Performance (0.5–2 points)
Achieve exemplary performance in an existing LEED v4 prerequisite or credit that allows exemplary performance, as specified in the LEED Reference Guide, v4 edition. An exemplary performance point is typically earned for achieving double the credit requirements and/or achieving the next incremental percentage threshold of an existing credit.
