Path to In-Stride MCM

Current unmanned MCM concept involves a “toolbox” of systems that

each only do a portion of the find-fix-finish process, one step at a

time, to achieve mine disposal – still not a rapid process!

To shorten the clearance timeline and to do all of this unmanned,

automated and in stride, you need: – a sharper sonar picture;

– a smarter sonar

– and an autonomous neutralizer

Raytheon, with its AN/AQS-20C mine hunting sonar and revolutionary

Barracuda mine neutralizer, is moving forward toward making

unmanned, automated in-stride mine clearance a reality!

For rapid unmanned MCM, USV towed sonar and autonomous neutralizer

are the key tools in the MCM toolbox

Raytheon IDS has developed the most innovative and capable MCM systems on the international market

AQS-20C Mine Hunting Sonar – only towed MCM sonar with:

- Forward looking volume array and gap-filler array underneath

- Standard SAS and high resolution SAS (many times resolution of standard SAS) for acoustic

identification capability

- Automatic target recognition capability

**Provides complete coverage of bottom and volume in a single pass**

Barracuda – Micro AUV, semi-autonomous mine neutralizer that allows:

- Untethered mine neutralization from near surface to the sea bed

- Deployment from air and surface craft

Both systems operating together allows for in-stride mine clearance – US Navy Programs of

Record!

AQS-20C technology can be incorporated into AUV systems, and Barracuda could be deployed

from larger AUV systems
