Programme Information

An 8 day programme for undergraduate students who are on an employer placement during 2017/2018

The Undergraduate Development Programme (UDP) is open to all students undertaking part-time or full-time Degree, HND or Foundation Degree qualifications in construction and the built environment who are undertaking a period of work experience placement.

Only those placement providers who meet the terms and conditions of the CITB NI Grant Scheme are eligible for grant assistance with a grant of £100 per day paid to the placement provider on completion of the full course programme.

The students are required to attend the full 8 day programme during their placement period which will be held at CITB NI Nutts Corner Training Centre, Crumlin.

This is a training programme for Undergraduates currently on placement with CITB NI registered in-scope employers.

Topics Covered

Certificate in Controlling Health Risks - Construction (CCHR/C)Aim: One day course which adequately covers control of health risks. The course identifies the most commonly present health hazards found on construction sites. Students will understand the principles of risk control and be able to identify the measures needed to control common health risks.

Module 1 - Online Pre Reading Module 2 hoursModule 2 - Classroom based teaching Examination is required to complete this course. Candidates who pass the course will receive the BoHS Level 2 Certificate in Controlling Health Risks on Construction Sites.

Craft Awareness ProgrammeAim: A 2-day course to raise awareness and knowledge of on-site construction activities such as brickwork, roofing and tiling.

Construction ProjectAim: A 3-day course providing training and experience in a range of practical and theoretical exercises. The participants will be provided with the opportunity to develop their personal skills in a range of construction related topics.

Health & Safety InformationAim: A 2-day Health & Safety Awareness Course promoting the key health & safety issues, to give undergraduates underpinning knowledge in preparation for entry to the industry. (This training normally will have taken place before undergraduates have commenced their placement with employers).
