Products labeled with words such as Danger, Warning, Caution, Poison, Flammable, or Corrosive are indications the wastes may be hazardous and cannot be accepted at the Miramar Landfill. EMPTY CONTAINERS Under California law, a container is considered empty if one cannot pour or scrape anything out of container. Aerosol cans, compressed gas cylinders, and fire extinguishers can only be disposed in the trash if they are completely empty of the product and free of pressure. Any container larger than five gallons that previously contained a hazardous material must be properly managed and CANNOT be disposed in the trash. Desechos electrodomésticos, líquidos y desechos radioactivos no son aceptados para eliminación. Llantas tendrán que ser reducidas en volumen por métodos aprobadas (cortadas en tercios o jirones).

Los productos etiquetados con palabras como Warning (Advertencia), Caution (Caución), Danger (Peligro), Poison (Veneno), Flammable (Inflamable) o Corrosive (Corrosivo) son indicaciones que de acuerdo a las leyes de California los desechos son peligrosos y no se permiten en el Miramar Landfill.

RECIPIENTES VACIOSDe acuerdo a las leyes de California, un recipiente se considera vació si la persona no puede vaciar o raspar nada del contenedor.• Latas aerosol y cilindros de gas comprimido solo se pueden disponer en la basura cuando están completamente

vacíos y libres de presión• Cualquier recipiente de más de cinco galones que previamente haya contenido materiales peligrosos se tiene que

manejar de forma adecuada y NO SE PUEDE tirar o disponer en la basura.

OPCIONES DE DISPOSICIONDesechos Residenciales: Hay varias instalaciones a través del Condado de San Diego que aceptan desechos domésticos peligrosos. Para mas información llame al 858-694-7000.

Desechos de Negocios: los negocios que generan desechos peligrosos tienen que cumplir con las leyes de transporte y las regulaciones de disposición de desechos peligrosos. Una violación de las Leyes de Control de Desechos Peligrosos puede resultar en una multa de 25,000 dólares por día y/o cárcel. Para mas información, contacte el “Department of Environmental Health” del Condado de San Diego al 858-505-6880.

La disposición de desechos peligrosos en el Miramar Landfill o en la basura es ilegal. A los individuos y a los negocios que disponen desechos peligrosos en el Miramar Landfill se le valorarán los daños y se le cobrará una tarifa igual a todos los costos

incurridos a la Ciudad asociados con el manejo, la remoción, y la disposición apropiada de esos

desechos peligrosos.

mercurio• Mortero de concreto poco espeso• Artículos electrónicos• Asbestos pulverizables• Gasolina, diesel, y encendedores• Productos domésticos de limpieza y cloro• Pintura Látex y a base de aceite, barniz, tintes• Bombillos: fluorescentes, descarga de alta densidad,

haluro de metal, neón, y sodio.
