SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT
The project "Una Chance per Tutti" (A Chance for All) had as its central
theme the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities, the
promotion of active participation and the education for the respect of
diversity through the implementation of mobilities within the European
Voluntary Service.
The partnership was lead by Associazione Culturale Link – Italy and
completed by NEXES - Spain RATO-ADCC – Portugal, Everything Possible
- United Kingdom, KERIC - Slovakia and EFM - Poland.
The project gave, during the year 2015, the chance to 22 young people
with fewer opportunities to participate in mobility projects lasting from
one up to two months.
Italy welcomed in total 16 young people sent by the partner countries
for one month each during three different periods (April, June,
September 2015). Instead from Italy departured 6 youth: two young
Italians spent two months in Spain, one volunteer spent two months in
Slovakia and three spent one month in Portugal.
The activities realized were different but had the common goal of
helping and working with local projects. The variety of activities went
from creative workshops, environmental activities, informatic trainings,
animation activities for youth and children, promotion of volunteering,
summer camp with horses, helping during local festival.
3
To each of the mobilities realized the volunteers brought European
added values in peripheral regions, approaching these to Europe, not
only geographically talking, but also cultural, intercultural and social
wise. Through the project "Una Chance per Tutti" the partner
organisations promoted the implementation of inclusion projects,
strengthened the already existing partnership, share knowledge and
best practice within and with other stakeholders about the quality work
with disadvantaged young people.
In September 2015, at the conclusion of the EVS mobilities, a “Training
and Networking of Youth Workers” seminar was organized in Italy by the
applicant Link, involving 13 youth workers from the partnership with and
without experiences. The training was a space to share the experiences
of the sending and hosting of the “Una Chance per Tutti” volunteers,
sharing best practises gained during the project and put into reality by
each partner organisation.
The visibility of the project was ensured through the update of all steps
of the project on the project Blog and on the partners’ websites, so as
the dissemination of the results.

Partnership
Associazione Culturale Link is of the opinion that the partnership within
a European project is fundamental for the success of the project, all the
more so if the project regards youth with less opportunities and
disadvantages.
The partnership of “Una Chance per Tutti” is led by Link and the partners
NEXES Interculturals de Joves per Europa Spain
KERIC Slovakia
Europejskie Forum Mlodziezy Poland
Rato - Associação para a Divulgação Cultural e Científica Portugal
Everything Possible CIC UK
This partnerships has a long-term history, with collaborations since
several years and within different types of projects (EVS long term and
short-term, Youth Exchange, Training, Networking activities, Leonardo
da Vinci, etc).
Find the contacts of the partners at the end of the booklet.

Definition of target group
“Young people with fewer opportunities” is a term used to describe
young people who are at a disadvantage compared to their peers
because they face one or more of the exclusion factors below. These
often prevent young people from taking part in formal and non-formal
education, trans-national mobility, employment, democracy and society
at large.
The most common disadvantaged faced by youth who joind the EVS
project “Una Chance per Tutti” were the following:
Economic obstacles: people with a low standard of living, low
income, dependence on social welfare system, people in long-term
unemployment or poverty, people in debt or financial problems,
etc.
Geographical obstacles: people from remote or rural areas, people
living in peripheral regions, people from urban problem zones,
people from less serviced areas (limited public transport, poor
facilities, abandoned villages…), etc.
Social obstacles: people facing discrimination because of gender,
age, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, etc., people with limited
social skills or anti-social or risky sexual behaviour, people in a
precarious situation, (ex-)offenders, (ex-)drug or alcohol abusers,
young and/or single parents, orphans, young people from broken
families, etc.
7
Educational difficulties: people with learning difficulties, early
school-leavers and school dropouts, lower qualified persons, people
with poor school performance, etc.
Health problems: people with illnesses or psychiatric conditions,
young people with mental health problems, etc.
Cultural differences: immigrants or refugees or descendants from
immigrant or refugee families, people with linguistic adaptation and
cultural inclusion problems, etc.
SOCIAL INCLUSION? – OUR GOAL
If social exclusion is how individuals get left out or left behind... then
social inclusion is how they get brought back (or are kept) in.
Social inclusion is an on-going process which ensures that those at risk of
poverty and social exclusion gain the opportunities and resources
necessary to participate fully in economic, social and cultural life and to
enjoy a standard of living and well-being that is considered normal in the
society in which they live. Professionals who work with fewer
opportunity youngsters know that inclusion is a long-term process which
can be made up of much smaller steps in much simpler forms.

The members of this partnership do all believe that the European
Volunteer Service can have a strong impact on social exclusion, if
supported and lead in the right way. The EVS project can help young
people to improve their skills, motivation, behavior, attitudes and view
of the world around them.
Goals of our INCLUSION short-term EVS project
Give young people, who do live disadvantaged situations, the chance to
experience themselves differently, step out of daily life troubles, get to
know new people and new types of friendship, through living for a short
time in another country.
Through specific support and mentoring the young volunteers have the
chance to become more independent and responsible for their actions,
improve their personal well-being and learn better to deal with
problems.
Teach the volunteers to understand and feel the beauty of volunteering,
sharing time and energy with others, improving their knowledge and
awareness about European topics and European citizenship.
Enrich the Curriculum Vitae of the young volunteer with language,
intercultural, professional and personal skills certified by the Youthpass
Certificate, which helps in future job finding.
Internationalize local projects and enrich the local community work with
the presence of European volunteers, sharing the concept of Inclusion
projects and improving solidarity between locals.

A life changing journey from Italy to ...
Donato in Portugal
“Nearly I start to understand what they are saying,
sometimes I notices that also without knowing all
the words I understand the meaning; I can
understand the conversations of my colleagues, the concepts, their way of
doing, their way of approaching work and also life.”
11
Francesco and Michele in Portugal
“Chi l’avrebbe mai detto! Io ad
insegnare ad altri su come
utilizzare il computer. Wow.”
Who ever imagined! Me teaching
to others about how to use a
computer. Wow.
“This experience showed me that also with very different people we can
become friends when we live such an adventure together.”
Michele and Anna in Spain
“... A funny fact is that here most
of the local people (children
included!) use to speak Català:
this bilingualism used to be very
weird at the beginning but we try
really hard and study with a
teacher, so now we are able to
(kind of) understand it… more or
less!... “
12
Isabella in Slovakia
“Durante questi due mesi ho
fatto cose che a casa non avrei
fatto. Persino ho cavalcato un
vero cavallo!”
During this two months I did things
at home I would never have
dreamed of. I even ride a real
horse!
“Ho realizzato che le persone sono tutte uguali, cè chi ti piace e chi no,
non dipende da dove uno proviene. Oggi ho amici in tutto il mondo.”
I realized that people are all the same, people you might like or not like, it does
not depend on where they come from. Today I have friends all over the world.

A life changing journey
from Europe to Italy
Tiago and Pedro from Portugal, Joanna and Marcin from Poland and
Victor from Spain joined the project from April to May 2015.
Through the activities of painting, fixing, repairing, decorating of a local
bike workshop for young people, the volunteers improved their manual
skills, had the chance to use their creativity and learn team work skills.
14
Victor from Spain offered his skills to create a promotional video for a
local activity regarding the European Day, 9 May 2015 where the
volunteers helped to implement intercultural activities:

Free time, discover local surroundings and friendships with local youth:
15
Rita and Tiago from Portugal, Carlos, Francisco and David from Spain,
Jade and Callum from the UK joined the project in June 2015.
Rita wrote a text for the Blog after the project, which describes it all.
Read it here: In Link association during the month of June, we (all the
volunteers of “UNA CHANCE PER TUTTI” project):
presented food, music and videos from our different countries and did
gardening activities;
handed flyers about Erasmus + and EVS; gave our testimony and ideas;
learnt Italian language and other languages too;
participated at the Festival dei Claustri with our creations of a puzzle of
Europe, a memory game with the EU flags and silhouettes of our
national costumes, so we offered kids to have a nice time;
contributed to clean the walls of the historic city center;
16
visited beautiful places, like Altamura, Matera and Irsina eating
authentic Italian food and drink;
created a family of friends with other volunteers;
developed our team spirit and orientation ability by playing games;
grew and opened our minds and won self-confidence
proved to ourselves that we could be autonomous and responsible;
but mostly, we lived this experience which would not be possible
without EU, Link Association staff and Our Association staff in our
countries. So “Grazie per Tutto!”

17
Zuzana and Maria from Slovakia, Anna and Agata from Poland joined the
project in September 2015.
This group of girls had the chance to participated to various activities
(harvesting, bike fixing, cleaning session of urban sights, etc.) which
taught them a lot about local culture, trained their team work and
throughout the month the took over responsibilities and improved their
self convidence.

Training and Networking of Youth Workers
18 – 23 September 2015; Altamura – Italy

19
At the end of the Seminar the partners, with the help of the Italian
volunteers who participated in “Una Chance per Tutti” project, realized a
public event and presentation of the project to local youth and NGOs,
youth within the target group of Inclusion projects. The event became a
