A student who has completed 4 years of the same foreign language while in high school is exempt from Foreign Language 110 (MCC 101) and Foreign language 120 (MCC 102). The foreign language courses may be taken at MCC to fulfill AA requirements or taken at UMKC to fulfill BA requirements. General Requirements (11 credits)—choose all of the following: Foreign Language 120 and 211* equivalent to MCC For Lg 102 and 103* Cluster Course (300/400 level) UMKC BACHELOR OF ARTS DEGREE – STUDIO ART To fulfill the Major Requirements for the BA in Studio Art, students must successfully complete the foundation courses (Art 112, 121, and 131); 24 hours of studio art courses, including at least 12 300/400 level hours and also including at least three different studio areas (drawing, painting, printmaking, graphic design, photography, digital imaging, and computer multimedia); the Capstone course (Art 499WI or 423WI); and 12 hours of art history, including one 400 level course and three courses from Art 301, 302, 303, 315, and 319. All studio art majors are required to maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA average in studio art courses and a 2.0 overall GPA. For those students that have completed the Associate in Arts degree, the remaining general education course requirements are: three semesters of the same foreign language (if not already taken), passage of the Written English Proficiency Test, a 300/400 level Writing Intensive course (ART 499WI or 423WI), and a 300/400 interdisciplinary “cluster course.” A Writing Intensive course from MCC will not fulfill the upper-level Writing Intensive requirement at UMKC. The BA degree in STUDIO ART requires 120 minimum credit hours, including 36 hours at the 300/400 level.
