Electro‐pop artist Lights has announced Midnight Machines, an album comprised of six acoustic songs from her third stud

album Little Machines , plus two brand new songs. The never‐before‐heard tracks are “Follow You Down” and “Head Cold

and the leading single is an acoustic version of “Meteorites”.

The video for “Meteorites” was shot entirely in reverse and was recorded in Toronto. Lights even had to sing every lyric

backwards and at double speed during the filming, an undeniably impressive feat.

The Ship, a new album by Brian Eno, will be released on March 4th, 2016 by Warp Records. The Ship is Eno’s first solo reco

since 2012’s Grammy‐ nominated LUX . Originally conceived from experiments with three dimensional recording technique

and formed in two, interconnected parts, The Ship is almost as much musical novel as traditional album. Eno brings togeth

songs,

minimalist

ambience,

physical

electronics,

omniscient

narratives

technical

innovation

into

a

single,

cinematic suite. The result is the very best of Eno, a record without parallel in his catalogue.

The album opens with the 21‐minute eponymously titled “The Ship” on which Eno’s cyclically sung sea‐chant builds in

ominous drama, followed by “Fickle Sun”, a song in three movements. The first continues where “The Ship” left but with

Eno’s voice sounding more upfront, determined, even despairing. The album’s finale is a Lou Reed penned cover of The

Velvet Underground’s “I’m Set Free”, a band who were famously credited by Eno as the inspiration behind his early music

explorations as an art student.

Creatures indeed. When it comes to brothers, none are more "brotherly" than the Ferraro brood. Though the name may new to some ears - their dynastic legacy is not. They are descendants of The Cameron House (which is still in the familyhands) in Toronto, Canada. A venue with a well-earned reputation as the place to be seen, and to hear new musSurrounded by the storied history, and witness to countless legendary performers - it was almost unavoidable they wouband together to do the same. Cosmo, Tally and Gianni have no memory of when they started to play together. To them, always been so. However, they do recall the forceful recruitment of Tally, the youngest brother to sing - he unwillincomplied...and they've never looked back.

Looking back is a fitting way to describe their sound. It's 50's inspired and yet it’s inherently modern. They clash, bang and git out, with a melodic tone that is reminiscent of The Beatles and The Strokes. Their debut record Losing Sleep encompassall those aspects and sticks in your head - it's catchy as hell. The title track (also their first single) is a toe-tapping, fingesnapping, sing-along inducing ride - expect no less from the album. A lot of heart and soul went into this bad-boy

They’ve come a long way since sneaking into bars and clubs, and playing with large X’s on their hands. The band has quick

Canadian musician Woodpigeon, a.k.a. Mark Andrew Hamilton, has emerged from a brief hiatus t

release his sixth full-length T R O U B L E. Merging the best of John Grant with Avalon era Roxy

Music, Fleetwood Mac’s Tango in the Night, with a nod towards Kanye West’s Yeezus, the sounds

are transposed to a largely acoustic setting feeding off influences from his travels across the globe

This is a record about rhythm and sex and sadness. Previous Woodpigeon LPs have been epic

affairs about falling in love with the interplay between choirs and symphonies, guitars and voices.

This one narrows things down to the finest point, because so often less is so much more. As

Hamilton points out: “It’s the loudest thing I’ve ever made.”

Many of the songs don’t follow typical formats and chord structures but rather fold in upon

themselves in a cyclical way, patterns indirectly inspired by music he heard in Turkey and

Argentina. Songs like the kraut-rock influenced “Devastating” and “Faithful” (about his previous

relationship; “It’s almost mortifying to be so honest and direct”) initially confused the other players

with their unusual structures. Inspired by reading-up on personal hero Roy Orbison, who spoke of

throwing out the rulebook of what a pop song should be, Hamilton thought; “I've already quit music

so I might not even make these songs into anything other than things I play for myself… so let's jusee where they go on their own.” By the end of the album the narrator is up on the rooftops

watching the zombies run away in the distance.

The songs were so different from anything that he had done before that Hamilton even toyed with

changing the name to create a new beginning, a fresh start. Despite being under the same

Woodpigeon moniker, T R O U B L E is a huge step forward and the finest album of a storied

career. Even the album name has multiple meanings. As he explains; “Trouble can refer to bad sh

coming or getting naked with someone... Either way, really.” Ready to get in to trouble? T R O U B
