• You’ll receive a diploma after you graduate • You are eligible to register for national certification exams for

American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Corp

or the American Nurses Credentialing Center • You must apply online to take these exams • You must submit an official transcript to the certifying

body AANP or AANC from UMass Boston as well as a

transcript form prior MS or DNP in Nursing • You can obtain final transcripts showing that the certificate is

awarded following graduation

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Mass RN license? • Only if you plan to do clinical in Mass.

Do I need to be admitted to take the pre reqs? • No but priority registration is granted to those admitted to the program • The prerequisites can be taken by any RN enrolled in a MS program.

Can I do clinical in my home state? • Yes, but an agreement must be in place with our school and the agency• This may take up to six to eight weeks, so do not delay• You will then send us the clinical site’s information on the web form we will provide you• The MD, NP, or PA preceptor must be appropriate to your role and area of concentration• You will need 600 hours of clinical if you are in the 21 credit program and 300 if you are in the 12 credit program• You need clinical clearance to start clinical

Will I need separate liability insurance? • No as the CNHS will cover you under our liability insurance when you are in the role as student NP.

Can I take the national NP certifying examination? • All post master’s graduates are eligible to take the certification exam in their field of concentration.
