• “One of the most promising upcoming node in Navi Mumbai-‘Ulwe’ has left behind all other areas of Navi Mumbai”
• Ulwe Node is the 10th township taken up by CIDCO for development as a part of Navi Mumbai Project
• This node is situated along the south western water front of the CBD of Navi Mumbai and extends down towards the JNPT port in the souththe south
• Ulwe Node is strategically located across the Panvel Creek and in visual contact with CBD at Belapur & Seawoods- Nerul
• This node is planned for an overall population of 3.90lacs; The total gross area of this node is 1,486Ha
• Out of this 12.5% (approx. 434Ha) and ~242Ha for NMSEZ
• On the north east side of this node the is the proposed NaviMumbai International Airport

Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA)
• The proposed Airport is situated in the geographical centre of Navi Mumbai on the National Highway No. 4B near Panvel at a distance of ~35km from the existing Chhatrapati ShivajiInternational Airport(CSIA) in Mumbai
• The National Highway 4B provides the main road access to the Airport from the east, whereas the Aamra Marg provides road access to the Airport from the west.
• The Airport is also accessible from the existing Mankhurd-Belapur-Panvel commuter rail corridor from Khandeshwar Railway Station and from the Targhar Railway Station on the Nerul–Uran Railway line presently under development
• The Airport has two access points namely from AMARA MARG in the West and NH4B in the East
• Ulwe lies immediately to the south of proposed Navi Mumbai International Airport,
potentially served by both road and proposed Metro Rail
• To the west lies the site for the proposed MTHL landing (six-lane dual carriage way Road
Bridge connecting Sewri on Mumbai side to Nhava on Navi Mumbai side) & Ulwe West
(Waterfront) SEZ
• The site is very well connected to both the National and State Highways and can be accessed
through Amra Marg, the principal arterial road, connecting Navi Mumbai CBD to the
proposed Navi Mumbai International Airport and Jawaharlal Nehru Port

It is proposed to be developed as an Expressway link with a six lane dual
carriage way road bridge and rail bridge (considering Metro Rail Provision
too.) The proposed development initiatives will not just give rise to additional
traffic movement but also accentuate the need for greater economic
integration of Mumbai with the mainland
Navi Mumbai Metro
• The Mass Rapid Transit System, in the form of suburban railway, in Navi
Mumbai was commissioned in 1992 with the commissioning of Mankhurd-
Vashi railway line
– and was extended up to Belapur in 1993, and thereafter upto Panvel in
1998
– The other rail corridor i.e. Thane-Turbhe-Nerul-Vashi rail corridor was – The other rail corridor i.e. Thane-Turbhe-Nerul-Vashi rail corridor was
commissioned in 2004
– Out of the six proposed rail corridors, the third i.e. Nerul-Uran rail
corridor is under progress and the work will recommence shortly
– With the change in land use and considering the importance of
commuting and transportation, it was found necessary to review the
transportation system of Navi Mumbai
– Accordingly, a new kind of transportation system like Metro railway is
expected to be the ideal option
