If needed end-users complement their analysis with network level KPI (congestion, latency, jitter, traffic per CoS, lost packets, ….). They can check thresh-old alerts or the configuration consistency log, and enforce new CoS policy.

When a VPN architecture is used and application traffic is transiting between sites, obtaining visibility on the flows is an important facet of the QoE man-agement. With the multiplication of dynamic or static WAN paths on the same router (e.g.: Cisco PFR), in-depth knowledge of the application flows is be-coming even more critical.

With its WAN path module, eye.lo™ offers a simple and innovative visualization of the end-to-end flows. Designed for VPN set across a few or thousands of sites, it adapts to each enterprise context and builds maps showing the flow going through their network.

Combining traffic view and distribution of perfor-mance metrics, the flow map is an extremely effec-tive tool to troubleshoot or optimize the network and application delivery infrastructure.

Configuration compliancy Because typical snmp monitoring techniques are rarely sufficient to assure consistency across an IP network infrastructure, eye.lo™ includes an ad-vanced Monitoring module. Its scalability and ca-pability allows Service Provider network experts to easily design advanced algorithms to scan and con-trol the hundreds of thousands Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and Provider Edge (PE). Setup is verified and performance is assessed.

When a problem is detected or reported on a spe-cific piece of equipment, a check sequence can be imported or designed in few minutes. The entire net-work can then be scanned to avoid recurrence of the problem.

Application Cos Control

Assuring critical applications priority over non-prior-ity flows is the cornerstone of good end-user QoE. When end-users face latency using a business ap-plication, eye.lo™ helps end-customer’s IT team to spot the root cause segment (LAN/WAN/App) and check the consistency between applied CoS policy and the business-criticality of the application.

They can decide to assign a new Class of Service for the application using eye.lo™ configuration man-agement, if the Service Provider allows it, or let the Service Provider Customer Care apply the request-ed policy.

Cos Audit

To be effective, CoS policy must be applied uniform-ly across the VPN. eye.lo™ embeds a CoS module, comparing the configuration of the network equip-ment to the reference CoS (Class of Service) tar-geted by the enterprise policy. It controls standard CoS configurations based on access lists, as well as advanced CoS configurations based on application recognition (e.g : AVC on Cisco routers). Corrections of discrepancies can be directly implemented by eye.lo™ or transmitted to the configuration tools of the Service Provider.

Architecture & ImplementationWeb-based seamless deployment

eye.lo™ is a powerful multi-tenant software platform installed in the premises of the WAN Service Pro-viders. It naturally integrates into existing IT systems and policies. To isolate and securely manage the specific set up for each enterprise, eye.lo™ embeds a sophisti-cated rights management engine. It enables ad-ministrator to closely manage access to eye.lo™’ functionalities for the many user or administrator profiles of both the enterprise (administrator, IT team, end-users, top management) and the service pro-vider (installation team, operation team, customer care, marketing).

eye.lo™ is based on a modular framework relying on a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). New mod-ules can easily be added as end customers or ser-vice providers needs increase.

Optimized data collection

eye.lo™ collects flow records and equipment raw data, using various protocols such as NetFlow, IPFix (RCF510x), snmp V2c/V3, Telnet or ssh. Collected data is handled by an innovative data modeling en-gine that structures information to enable compact storage and flexible aggregation.

Referential data such as CPE IP address or end-cus-tomer information are collected via flat files plugins using csv or xml format, manually or via scheduled jobs. specific data repository allows for near real time provisioning and interface with the service pro-vider’s tools for deployment.

In parallel applications, URLs, usage and perfor-mance metrics are extracted, calculated and en-riched with specific end-customer information.

Performance management is a matter of expertise, reactivity and regu-larity. A specific Report Studio helps Service Providers structure commu-nication with their multiple enterprise customers.

The Report module turns application or Network information (graph, TOP, map, alerts, …) from the eye.lo™ platform into simple configurable widgets that can easily be moved around, edited, re-dimensioned and combined. Each widget is a dynamic object that can be automatically updated with refreshed data if desired.

Once complete, a report can be declared as “template”, customized and edited by end-customers to schedule automatic e-mailings for daily re-porting. They enjoy synthetic and actionable information that help them to fulfill their business-critical application SLA and build confidence for new value added services.
