2011 Outstanding Advisors Awarded
Fifty-five outstanding advisors were awarded April 23, 2012 at the annual wine and cheese reception at the UL Lafayette Alumni Center. This year’s award ceremony was hosted by the Academic Success Center and emceed by Jim Beard, with awards presented by Dr. Joseph Savoie.

UL Lafayette 2011 Outstanding Advisors
UL Lafayette Alumni House,
April 23, 2012
1. Awards will be given for
exemplary advising during
the 2012 calendar year to
faculty advisors with
three or more years
advising experience.
2. New faculty advisors, who
have a minimum of one
and less than three years
of advising experience at
UL Lafayette, will be
awarded for exemplary
advising during the 2012
calendar year.
Eligibility:
1. Candidates must have
attended at least two
advising symposiums,
trainings, or conferences
during the 2012 calendar
year.
2. Candidates must have a
minimum of 20
undergraduate advisees or
remove at least 20
undergraduate advising
holds in either Spring,
Summer, or Fall 2012.
Selection Committee:
Two Academic Deans
Two Professional Advisors
Three Students
Three Faculty Members
Director of Academic
Success Center serves as
chair of the committee as
a non-voting member
except in the case of ties.
Evaluation criteria:
1. Assessment by advisees in
fall 2012 with an online
advising survey.
2. Rankings from department
heads and deans.
(Request for rankings will
be made by Committee.)
3. Statement of advisor’s
advising philosophy,
methods, innovations, and
challenges with his/her
specific advising group.
Advisors are encouraged
to limit their
documentation to two
pages. (By invitation)
4. Special consideration will
be given to applicants
who participated in
orientation advising
during 2012.
5. Special consideration will
be given to applicants
who have not previously
won the advising award.
Advisors will be invited to apply
for awards once eligibility
requirements have been verified
in January 2013.
