Ukulele Workshop 26/3/17 KS3 were fortunate to have an end of term ukulele workshop with a professional local musician, Greg Orford. The aim to enhance our experiences of music . Greg explained that the ukulele was introduced to the island of Hawaii by Portuguese immigrants from Madeira. It is a member of the lute family of instruments, with four nylon strings. Greg taught the staff and students three main chords of C, F and G and how to strum in time, keeping rhythm. We finished by playing ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’, and then Greg showed us a few tricks, which he assured us would come with practise.
