H akimullah Mehsud, leader of the Taliban in Pakistan, was killed in a US drone strike on Saturday.Hakimullah Mehsud, leader of the Pakistani Taliban, was responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent Pakistanis. Under his leadership, the Taliban targeted Pakistani soldiers and civilians, slaughtered Shia Muslims and almost derailed this year's general election by selectively targeting liberal parties. Yet the news of Mehsud's death in a US drone strike on Saturday has not been unanimously well received. The interior minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, sounded as if he was in mourning when he said: "This is not just the killing of one person, it's the death of all peace efforts." Imran Khan, who heads the provincial government in the north-western province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has reiterated a threat to block Nato vehicles from passing through his province unless drone strikes are discontinued. While journalists and others pointed out that Mehsud was terrorising the population of Pakistan, most politicians sounded ambivalent at best. This reaction is partly the result of immediate political concerns. The conservative government of Nawaz Sharif came to power in May on a platform of peace talks with the Taliban and action against drone strikes. A few weeks ago, Mehsud took the unusual step of giving an interview to the BBC in which he said that his organisation was open to talks. Politicians from both Sharif and Khan's parties are presenting Mehsud's death as a devastating blow to these efforts. Nisar and others have even suggested the US deliberately timed the strike to undermine dialogue. The Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which Mehsud had led since 2009, has tentatively said that talks may still go ahead, but it is likely that Mehsud's death will delay the process. Of course, the overblown rhetoric coming from politicians fails to acknowledge that talks with the Taliban were at an embryonic stage. Mehsud's outlandish conditions for dialogue included the imposition of a harsh version of Islamic law across the country. Peace talks with the TTP have taken place before, and have always ended in failure, so it perhaps an over- statement to imply that had Mehsud survived, peace in Pakistan would have prevailed. Pakistan has taken a heavy toll in the war on terror. At least 35,000 people have died in terrorist violence since 2001, a figure that dwarfs the combined death toll in all western countries. Ultimately, the death of a single Taliban leader will make little difference to the group's campaign of terror as the power structures are decentralised enough to absorb such losses. Which begs the question: what hope is there for peace? Clearly, the leaders of Pakistan and the US have yet to find any credible options. "I can apologize to my family, my friends, my colleagues and the people of this great city." Premier Kathleen Wynne has shown concern for the new developments at Toronto City Hall. Doug Ford held a news conference Tuesday morning and called on the Chief to step aside - temporarily. The remarks come after Blair held a news conference last week in which he said he was "disappointed" while answering a question asked by the media. "He should not have made those comments," Ford saidCBC's Metro Morning. "He's created a bias towards the mayor," he said. "He believes he's the judge, jury and executioner." How Imran gotKareena to feedstray dogs! For a scene in Gori Tere Pyaar Mein,Kareena Kapoor Khan had to feedstreet dogs. The actress, who ispetrified of strays, had to be goadedinto doing the scene by co-star ImranKhan (a dog lover) and director PunitMalhotra.Ironically, her character is shown tolove stray animals in the film, whileImran's character is scared of them.Punit says, "Though Kareena has a

pet, feeding stray dogs was a differentsituation altogether. The sight of dogscoming running from all directionsterrified her so much that she initiallyrefused to feed them biscuits as thescene demanded."It was only when Imran and Punit(who, incidentally, is not comfortablewith animals) enacted the scene thatKareena was convinced. The US Secretary of State John Kerry is in Saudi Arabia on a trip which appears tobe designed to rebuild relations with one of America's key allies in the Gulf. TheSaudis have long backed American policies in the region, including allowing theUS military to use its territory during the build-up to the Kuwait war and OperationDesert Storm in 1990 and 1991. More recently, tensions have grown over Syria.Saudi Arabia is unhappy at the prospect of peace talks installing an Iranian-backed government in Damascus. Saudi Arabia also supports the military-backedgovernment in Egypt; while the US wants democracy to be restored there.Washington's most important strategic Arab partnership is now suffering thebiggest strains since it emerged that 15 of the 19 suicide hijackers who had attackedthe US on 9/11 were Saudis. First came the shock announcement on 18 Octoberthat Saudi Arabia was turning down its two-year non-permanent seat on the UNSecurity Council in protest at the international body's apparent inability to resolve either the Syrian or Palestinian situations. Then onTuesday it was widely reported that the Saudi intelligence chief, Prince Bandar bin Sultan, had told European diplomats his country wouldbe making "a major shift" in its relations with the US.

GET YOUR FLU SHOT AT REXALL

Linda Jeffrey, MPP for Brampton Springdale, received herflu shot from Rexall pharmacist, Anna Posca. The flushot is now available in Ontario and Rexall is onceagain making it easy and convenient for Ontarians to

receive the vaccine by offering it at any store, at any time, any day- no appointment necessary.

"Getting the flu shot is the best way to keep it from spreadingaround. There's no better way to prevent unnecessary health risk, and now, there's no easier way than to go to your local drug store, like Rexall to get it done. I urge everyone in Brampton to go out andget their shot this fall," said Jeffrey.

Last year was the first year pharmacists were able to administerimmunizations in Ontario and 80% of flu shots given by pharmacistswere at a Rexall. Easier access to vaccinations at pharmacies, includingevenings and weekends, will have a significant impact on the healthand well-being of Ontarians in the coming flu season.

According to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, theflu and its complications result in up to 1,000 hospitalizations and1,600 deaths in Ontario each year.

There are a number of other simple steps to prevent the spread

of the flu virus including:o Wash your hands frequently. Wash your hands often with

soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds to help remove bacteriaand viruses. Wash before and after eating, after you have been in apublic place, after using the washroom, after coughing and sneezing, and after touching surfaces that may have been contaminated. Analcohol-based hand sanitizer is also effective in killing viruses.

o Keep your hands away from your face. In most cases, the fluvirus enters the body through the eyes, nose or mouth.

o Cough and sneeze into your arm, not your hand. If you use atissue, dispose of it as soon as possible and wash your hands.

o Keep common surface areas clean and disinfected. Doorknobs, light switches, telephones, keyboards and other surfaces can becomecontaminated with all kinds of bacteria and viruses. Regular cleaningand disinfecting of these surfaces with regular householddisinfectants can help. Viruses can live on hard surfaces for up to 48hours.

o If you get sick, stay home. If you think you have the flu, youshould stay home until your symptoms are gone. If your symptomsget worse, call your health care provider.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper addressed about 3000delegates at the Conservative Par ty Convention in Calgaryin a 45-minute speech.Harper touched on the ongoing senate scandal althoughdid not mention any names. "There are a few senators whohave collected inappropriate expense reimbursements tothe tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars," he said.He took to the stage by saying it was time, "to show it(senate) can reform itself.""This is the only par ty that has tried to reform the Senate,"he said.He spoke about the election next year"In 2015, friends, we're not choosing the winner of Cana-dian Idol, we're choosing someone to lead our economy,"he said."The only trade policy Justin Trudeau's been working on isthe marijuana trade."He touched on crime."Friends, let's never forget, this is the one par ty thatbelieves those who do the crime should do the time andthat the rights of victims and law-abiding citizens aremore impor tant than the "rights" of criminals.""The Liberals and NDP voted against, but we eliminatedhouse arrest and sentencing discounts for violent andrepeat offenders! And friends, let's not ever forget, Thatonly this par ty knows you don't prevent gun-crimes in ourcities by cracking down on duck hunters."He also spoke about the recent Canada-EU trade deal."The Canada-European Union Trade Agreement Is evenlarger and more ambitious than the Nor th American FreeTrade Agreement. It is an agreement that will mean morechoice and lower prices for hard-working families - anagreement that stands to create tens of thousands of newjobs for Canadians," he said.Harper did not forget the opposition."The NDP? Would the NDP have ever made A trade dealwith Europe? The NDP can't even figure out Whether itsuppor ts free trade With the United States.""And Justin Trudeau? Prime Minister Stephen Harper delivers his keynote addressat the 2013 Conservative convention in Calgary

Contd. from Page 4Largely in protest over Washington's reluctance to getinvolved militarily in Syria, the prince reportedly said SaudiArabia would be scaling back its co-operation with the CIAover arming and training Syria's Sunni rebels. On the same day, another senior Saudi royal, Prince Turki al-Faisal - the former intelligence chief and ex-ambassador tothe US and UK - gave a speech in Washington damningPresident Barack Obama's policies on Syria as "lamentable".He dismissed the US-Russian deal to dispose of Syria'schemical weapons stockpile as a trick to excuse Mr Obamafrom having to order military action there.Yet at the very same time, Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister,

Prince Saud al-Faisal, was sitting comfortably next to hisUS counterpart, John Kerry, first in Paris on Friday andthen on Tuesday in London as they worked on finding apolitical solution to the Syrian conflict. The Saudis want to see Syria's President Bashar al-Assadgone and Iran's influence over that country diminished. They are frustrated that this is taking so long and thatWashington is proving so cautious about arming the rebels. When the US appeared poised to launch cruise missilestrikes against Syrian government positions following the21 August chemical weapons attack near Damascus, theSaudis privately welcomed this. The Crown Prince andDefence Minister, Prince Salman, broke off his holiday andflew home to prepare for the expected conflict only for it tobe averted by a Russian-brokered deal to destroy Syria'sarsenal of chemical weapons. The Saudis were deeplydisappointed as this left Syria's president stronger and therebels weaker. The view in Riyadh was that this was a dealto suit Israel at the expense of Syria's desperate population.Differences have also emerged about which rebels shouldreceive which arms, with Washington continuing to worry -with some justification - that sophisticated weapons couldend up in the hands of jihadist fanatics with a transnationalterrorist agenda. The Saudis are deeply worried that with a new, lessconfrontational, president in Iran, the Americans willsomehow "go soft" on that country, bury their differencesand form a grand bargain with Tehran that fails to takesufficient account of Saudi security fears. Ever since Iran'sIslamic revolution in 1979, Saudi-Iranian relations haveranged from uneasy accommodation to downright vitriolic. As the Middle East's two heavyweights, Sunni-majoritySaudi Arabia vies with Shia-majority Iran for power andinfluence. Syria has effectively become their proxybattlefield, with each country arming the opposing side. The Saudis now fear that Washington is edging towards acompromise deal with Tehran that slows or halts Iran'snuclear enrichment programme but leaves it free to stir uptrouble - in Saudi eyes - in Bahrain, Yemen and even inSaudi Arabia itself. The Saudi princes were shocked and dismayed by howquickly Washington abandoned its longstanding regionalally, President Hosni Mubarak, when the Arab Spring swepthim from power in 2011. It got them thinking: "Would theystand by us if the same happened here?" Although SaudiArabia is the birthplace of Islam, its rulers do not like ortrust the Muslim Brotherhood. They suspect it of seekingto overthrow all the hereditary monarchies in the Gulf, andthey strongly disliked the short-lived rule of the PresidentMohammed Mursi, a member of the Islamist movement, inEgypt. While Washington appeared to disapprove of hisremoval from power by Egypt's military in July, Saudi Arabiaand its allies Kuwait and the UAE lost no time inbankrolling the new interim government in Cairo. What happens in Bahrain matters to the Saudis. Theprinces have made it clear they will never tolerate a Shia-dominated Islamic republic on their doorstep in Bahrain, and when mass protests there threatened that tiny island'sSunni rulers in 2011, Riyadh sent troops to guard its keysites. Although Bahrain is home to the US Navy's 5th Fleet,Washington has criticised the government's human rightsrecord and put pressure on it to grant more rights to itsShia majority community. As far as the Saudis areconcerned, this is none of Washington's business and theywould rather it did not get involved. This is a longer-term but still serious worry for the Saudis. They know that the US is due to become self-sufficient inenergy, thanks to shale gas. That means that in future yearsSaudi Arabia's swing producer role within Opec oil cartelwill decline in relative importance for Washington. Coupledwith this is the US announcement in recent years of astrategic shift - a "rebalancing" of forces - away from theMiddle East to the Asia-Pacific region. For more than 50years, Saudi Arabia and its Gulf Arab neighbours havegrown used to living under the umbrella of a sizable USmilitary presence. Now they are looking at a future where, despite state department assurances, that may not nolonger be the case. But none of these Saudi complaints is likely to herald anend to a profound security pact that has already enduredsuch challenges as the 1973 Arab oil embargo and thefallout from the 9/11 attacks.Saudi-US cooperation in counter-terrorism runs deep, withthe CIA and FBI providing much of the technical expertisethat has helped Saudi Arabia largely eliminate its al-Qaedaproblem or drive its members over the border into Yemen. The powerful Interior Minister, Prince Mohammed binNayef, will be in no hurry to see that co-operationjeopardised.

FORD IS SORRY FOR HIS "MISTAKES"

COURTESY: 757LIVE/FLICKR COMMONS

Toronto Mayor Controversy continues.Mayor Rob Ford apologised to the city of Toronto on his radio

show on Newstalk1010 Sunday for his "mistakes" but won't beresigning. Last week, Police Chief Bill Blair revealed that the policehave custody of the video that allegedly shows Ford smoking crackcocaine. Ford has been insisting on the release of the video. Gawkerand the Toronto Star were one of the first ones to reveal the existenceof such a video while the mayor had denied its existence.

"I've been thinking for a long time of what I'm going to saytoday," Ford said on Newstalk 1010.

"And first of all, I believe that this video, I want the police chief,Bill Blair, to release this video for every single person in this city tosee. That is the right thing to do and chief, I am asking you torelease this video now."

He said, "whatever this video shows… people need to judgefor themselves what they see on this video."

He admitted to being "hammered" in public during his mayoraltyduring the course of the show. One of the occasions was the nightof Taste of Danforth festival past summer and on St. Patrick's Day in2012 where he said he was "out of control."

"I've made mistakes, like, where do I begin?" Ford said. "Forexample, the Danforth, that was pure stupidity. I shouldn't have gothammered down at the Danforth. If you're going to have a couple of

drinks, you stay at home and that's it, you don't make a publicspectacle of yourself."

He asked the media to not come to his house for the sake of hisfamily. He advised reporters to make appointment with him to meetwith him. The Mayor has been notorious for dodging the media inthe past confirmed reports.

He also promised to get an official driver for the first time butrefused to step down even temporarily.

"I am going to ride the storm out and just keep doing what I waselected to do," Ford said.

After he touched on the video issue he went on to talk aboutCity Hall issues followed by answering questions from callers.

An 81-year-old woman was one of the callers and advised Fordto step down for the sake of his health and his family.

"Your family deserves better," she said. She called Doug Ford an "enabler."City Councillors were vocal on Twitter on the Ford issue."I believe Mayor (&his lawyers) knows he can ask for the Video

to be released precisely because it won't be," tweeted CouncillorShelley Carroll.

"As I said 6 months ago - stepping aside is in the best interestof the City, the Mayor and his family," tweeted Councillor JayeRobinson.

Ford support goes up: PollDespite the video controversy that allegedly depictsMayor Rob Ford of smoking crack cocaine afterPolice Chief Bill Blair announced that the police havecustody of alleged video, Ford suppor t numbers havegone up.Poll by Forum Research showed Ford's approvalratings increased by 5 per cent to a total of 44 percent on Thursday just after Blair revealed the exist-ence of the video and said he was "disappointed."The Chief of Toronto Police said the video has been"consistent with what has been described in themedia," in the press conference held Thursday."Remember we're talking about approval rating, andthat's a question per taining to his job as mayor,"president of Forum Research Lorne Bozinoffsaidin aninterview with CBC News."And as long as these allegations are not impingingon his ability to do his job, people are satisfied."Bozinoff told CBC News that Ford has won sympathynumbers.Repor ters and cameramen had been surrounding themayor's house last week and Ford had shoved themoff the proper ty."He sor t of looked like he was hounded at his home,"Bozinoff told CBC News. "There might have been a bitof sympathy for him because it did seem sor t ofaggressive, and that may have also contributed to hisnumbers."His suppor t is high in the Scarborough area con-firmed the poll results."Scarborough's where he just arranged a subway, sohis numbers there are driven by the job he's doing forthem, not so much by his personal life," he said.Although a total of 60 per cent of people want him toresign confirmed the poll."These are pretty high numbers. They don't think he'saddressed the allegations from before, so it's not likehe's got a free pass on this," Bozinoff said.

Canadians' privacyless secure underthe ConservativesIn the wake of the Privacy Commissioner's repor trevealing critical security deficiencies at multiplefederal depar tments, New Democrats are againdemanding that the Conservatives take their responsi-bility to protect Canadians' personal informationseriously. "Canadians simply can't trust the Conservatives withtheir personal information. It was bad enough last yearwhen a single USB key loss compromised half a millionCanadians' private information," said NDP Ethics criticCharlie Angus (Timmins - James Bay). "Now we'relearning that that was just the tip of the iceberg." Government documents reveal in the past year 10 USBkeys, 107 laptops and over 200 BlackBerries have gonemissing from federal depar tments like Canada RevenueAgency. This week, the Privacy Commissioner's repor trevealed that under the Conservatives, data breacheshave more than quadrupled and the number of com-plaints has doubled. "Sharing personal information with the governmentshould not make Canadians vulnerable," said NDPDigital Issues critic Charmaine Borg (Terrebonne -Blainville). "New Democrats are working to fix what'sbroken in Ottawa and have repeatedly called on theConservatives to modernize Canada's privacy laws, including the Privacy Act."

Prime Minister Stephen Harper tabled the Canada-Europe TradeAgreement Summary of the Negotiated Outcomes in the Houseof Commons."The agreement in principle with the EU is a milestone towardsthe biggest, most ambitious trade agreement in Canadian his-tory, representing thousands of new jobs for Canadians and ahalf-billion new customers for Canadian businesses. Our Gov-ernment takes pride in the fact that the trade negotiations havebeen the most transparent and collaborative that Canada hasever conducted, with provinces, territories and business sec-tors informing negotiations every step of the way," said PrimeMinister Harper. "The tabling of the summary of negotiated out-comes is yet another example of the openness that has charac-terized this entire process."The 30-page document, entitled Technical Summary of the Ne-gotiated Outcomes: The Canada-EU Comprehensive Economicand Trade Agreement, provides an outline of the agreement inprinciple.Once in force, the Agreement will provide Canada with prefer-ential market access to the EU's more than 500 million con-sumers and to its annual $17 trillion in economic activity. Infact, a joint study conducted with the European Union, whichsuppor ted the launch of negotiations, concluded that an agree-ment could boost Canada's income by $12 billion annually andbilateral trade by 20 per cent. That is equivalent to creatingalmost 80,000 new jobs or increasing the average Canadianfamily's annual income by $1,000.Provinces, territories, and other stakeholders played impor tantroles in making this historic agreement in principle a reality. From the outset, the provinces and territories were active par-ticipants, and municipalities and stakeholders from across thecountry from a variety of sectors were consulted regularly. In-put from the general public was also sought, including as earlyas December 20, 2008, in the Canada Gazette. Foreign Affairs,Trade and Development Canada's website has also been opento consultations from Canadians at all times throughout the ne-gotiations.

He said the National Conference was a committedally of of the Congress and remains firmly with the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) at the national level.Answering questions about his statement that the relationsbetween Jammu and Kashmir and New Delhi could be revisitedon the pattern of Ireland and Scotland relations with the UnitedKingdom, Abdullah said everyone was giving his perceptionabout a possible solution to the Kashmir problem and that hiscomment should be viewed in that perspective. "The problemcan only be resolved through dialogue and discussion." Buthe quickly added that Jammu and Kashmir was an integral partof the country and he had no doubt about this. The chiefminister also urged Pakistan to respect the bilateral ceasefiresigned by the two countries in November 2003. Abdullah saidthe situation appeared to have improved on the Jammu andKashmir border in recent days. "Infiltration (of militants fromPakistan) normally comes down during the winter months butwe need to watch the situation closely," he said. The chief ministerarrived on Monday morning at the civil secretariat, which startedfunctioning in the winter capital after a week-long recess in the summercapital Srinagar. NEW DELHI: Amid a slugfest between BJP's Narendra Modi andCongress over Sardar Patel, a noted biographer of Patel has said thecountry's first home minister would not have recognised Modi ashis ideological heir and been very "pained" with his behaviourtowards Muslims. Rajmohan Gandhi, the grandson of MahatmaGandhi who has written a biography of the country's first homeminister, said Patel certainly would not have felt at the time of 2002riots in Gujarat that Modi fulfilled his 'rajdharma', a phrase used bythe then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to chide Modi."I think it is quite obvious that he (Patel) would have been very

disappointed, very pained and saddened not only as an Indianstatesman but also as coming from Gujarat, that this should nothave happened in Gujarat and the government of the time was notable to prevent it," he said. Talking to Karan Thapar in CNN-IBN'sDevil's Advocate, Gandhi said that claims by BJP supporters or Modihimself to project him as Patel's heir misunderstands and misrepresentsPatel. "If Modi can grow into that kind of image that would be wonderful, but by two reasons he has fallen short. After all Patel grew as a discipleunder the umbrella of Gandhi and the Indian National Congress. Modi hadhis career under the umbrella of RSS and that makes a difference.

MIRANSHAH: With marble floors, lush green lawns and atowering minaret, the $120,000 farm where feared PakistaniTaliban leader Hakimullah Mehsud died in a US drone strikewas no grubby mountain cave. Mehsud spent his daysskipping around Pakistan's rugged tribal areas to avoid theattentions of US drones. But his family, including two wives, had the use of an eight-roomed farmhouse set amid lawnsand orchards growing apples, oranges, grapes andpomegranates. As well as the single-storey house, the compound in DandeyDarpakhel village, five kilometres (three miles) north ofMiranshah, was adorned with a tall minaret — purely fordecorative purposes.Militant sources said the property in the North Waziristantribal area was bought for Mehsud nearly a year ago for$120,000 — a huge sum by Pakistani standards — by closeaide Latif Mehsud, who was captured by the US inAfghanistan last month. An AFP journalist visited the property several times whenthe previous owner, a wealthy landlord, lived there. With the Pakistan army headquarters for restive NorthWaziristan just a kilometre away, locals thought of Mehsud'scompound as the "safest" place in a dangerous area. Its proximity to a major military base recalls the hideout ofOsama bin Laden in the town of Abbottabad, on the doorstepof Pakistan's elite military academy."I saw a convoy of vehicles two or three times in this streetbut I never thought Hakimullah would have been living here.It was the safest place for us before this strike," localshopkeeper Akhter Khan told AFP. This illusion of safetywas shattered on Friday when a US drone fired at leasttwo missiles at Mehsud's vehicle as it stood at thecompound gate waiting to enter, killing the PakistaniTaliban chief and four cadres. The area around DandeyDarpakhel is known as a hub for the Haqqani network,a militant faction blamed for some of the most high-profile attacks in Afghanistan in recent years. Manyleft the area during the Taliban's rule in Afghanistan, coming back after the US-led invasion following the 9/11 attacks. Samiullah Wazir, a shopkeeper in the area, told AFP he would regularly see a convoy of four orf ive SUVs wi th b lacked-ou t windows leave thecompound early in the morning and return after sunset."We thought that somebody very important must beliving in this house," Wazir said."One day, I saw a man wearing a white shawl enteringthe house and I thought he looked like Hakimullah, but Ithought 'How can he live here because he could be easily hitby a drone strike?'"But Hakimullah it was and on Friday he returned to hiscompound for the final time."We were closing the shop when his vehicle came and wasabout to enter the house when a missile struck it," Wazirsaid."Moments later, an army of Taliban came and they cordonedoff the area."

Well if we go back to identify the onset era of Sci-fi orSuperhero movies in Bollywood, then fascination ofB-town biggies for superhero movies dates back tosixth decade of last century, but the genre actually

marked its onset in mid of 80s, when Anil Kapoor and Sridevi starrerMr India came in to cine arena to charm the masses, post that a fewmore noteworthy flicks made to cine arena. And in the last almost 26years despite a very lean number of flicks belonging to the genre ofSci-Fi or Superhero movie, the genre has taken a quantum leap.Even if look at the "Krrish franchise" or "Brand Krrish" then probablyten years back even conceptualiser of "Brand Krrish" Rakesh Roshanwouldn't have foreseen that some day his flagship initiative "Krrish"will turn into one of the most sought after cine brands of Bollywood, but it did.So with "Krrish 3" making its way to cineplexes all we Indian havegot ample reasons to be boastful about having our most soughtsuper hero "Krrish" in the league of Batman and Superman.Anyhow, this larger than life dream project of Roshans, which keptmasses await from almost last one and a half year finally made it tocine arena and recorded a decent foot-fall of approximately 60% atits opening.By now it's a known fact that Rakesh Roshan is one of the mostexceptional story teller and even with "Krrish 3" he didn't forget toadhere to this trait of his. Right at the onset the premise of "Krrish3" takes-off with a voice over where Big B narrates the past sequencesand instances which subsequently lead to the emergence of currentstage. And from there takes-off the premise of "Krrish 3", whereKrrish aka Krishna ( Hrithik) after rescuing his father Rohit Mehra (again played by Hrithik) returns to India. But now the circumstances have changed where Rohit has startedworking with Indian Research Institute as scientist, Krrish who isnow married to Priya (Priyanka Chopra) is living a happy married lifein Mumbai.Beyond the remotest ideas of this happily living family, is theexistence of Kaal (Vivek Oberoi) the beast in the robe of human whois misusing his psychic brilliance to create a chaotic milieu in theworld. And to meet his objective, Kaal, develops baneful viruses

and besides that also owns a brigade of beasts which he calls"Maanvar" ( Manushya +Jaanwar) a deadly combo of human andanimal traits which he creates by the DNA fusion of human andanimals. In an effort of creating a devastation, Kaal tries to inducean epidemic in Mumbai through his virus, but his this plan getsruined by Rohit and Krrish. And what follows next is a thrillingaction packed journey in the world of Krrish. So do Krrish succeedsin demolishing Kaal and his brigade of beasts or not? to know watchKrrish. As stated, that Rakesh is an exceptional story teller who is not onlywell versed with the art of picking up the most entertaining tales, butat the same time also masters the art of narrating them in the mostcaptivating manner and with "Krrish 3" the ace cinematographerhas once again exhibited his deftness in the skill.Undoubtedly "Krrish 3" belong to the "Sci-fi" and "Superhero"genre of movie making, but Rakesh along with his team of writerscomprising Robin Bhatt, Honey Irani, Irrfan Kamal , Akarsh Kuranaand Sanjay Masoom has very well assorted the human factor in thescript of the Krrish 3.Despite being perceived as a core Sci Fi saga story-line of "Krrish 3"exceptionally integrates the emotions, bonding, barbarity in quite aproportionate manner. And all this doesn't ends here what moreembedded in the script of "Krrish 3 is a super-powerful antagonistheading a brigade of beasts and on top of it, "Krrish 3's scriptdeserves kudos for never showcasing protagonists as somethingimmortal or out of this world and antagonists as meager punchingbag for our super hero. But yeah at same time keeping in view the notions of rationalists, who may discard the transformation of human into "Maanwar" or"Human Beasts" all we can say that if even cinema will start followingthe rational rubrics, then probably it will fail in delivering entertainingcontent. So kudos to entire team of writers for adroitly tailoring anentertaining script. As far as screenplay of Krrish is concerned then, probably nothingmuch needs to be said because by now Rakesh Roshan has turnedinto a virtuoso of Sci-fi genre. Despite Krrish 3's being a sequel of"Koi Mil Gaya", and "Krrish" it gets very clear right at the onset thatRakesh Roshan along with his screenplay-writer companion, RobinBhatt want to establish "Krrish 3" as a standalone cine cantata. With first few minutes solely dedicated to the background whichhas its roots entrenched in the plot of "Koi Mil Gaya" and "Krrish"Rakesh tries to make audience well-aware of the the situation whichhas lead to current state of affair (so for all those who have not seen"Koi Mil Gaya" and "Krrish" nothing to worry about). Subsequentlywhat follows is a smooth first half which without any hurry introducesthe masses to the characters performing on the silver screen, whereas,it's the second half that holds your attention till the culmination.

It was Kolkata's way of welcoming a modern-day Rama, who is revered like the 'Lord of Ayodhya' in a nation wherecricket bridges all divides. In an international career spanning 24 years, the cricket worldhas embraced Sachin as its own for his craftsmanship with apiece of willow that lesser mor tals use as a bat. As he hastraversed the globe - from Mumbai to Melbourne, Jamaica toJohannesburg, Sialkot to Surrey, Colombo to Christchurch -Sachin has developed a fan following that is unparalleled inthe game's long history.Kolkatans, who have this unique habit of 'adopting' sports icons, fell in love with the Mumbaikar much before the world wokeup to his prodigious talent. Sachin was quick to requit thelove and affection showered on him by the Eden crowdwhich still swears by his name.It will be no different when he takes the field on Wednes-day, for the first of his two farewell matches, at the EdenGardens where he has not missed a Test match sincemaking his debut in Karachi in 1989. Sachin's 199th Testwill be his 13th at the venue. Eden Gardens may no longerbe the 'paradise' it used to be, nor Sachin the batsman ofyore, but the two share a unique chemistry that continuesto kindle world's cricket's longest 'romance'. displace Ravindra Jadeja and Sunil Narine. The other major change in the batting top ten was the rise of

Australia captain George Bailey to No. 3, up six places after a seriesin which he made 478 runs at an average of 95.60 in six innings. Theother big gainer in the bowling top ten is South Africa's MorneMorkel, who also climbed six spots to reach No. 7.

India's openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma, both ofwhom were in form against Australia, have also risen sharply in therankings. ambitiously, 70,000 Tendulkarmasks are reportedly going to behanded out to the spectators. Ifthe CAB can pull this off, it willbe quite a sight.

On day two, every seat isexpected to have a placard, andwhen all the placards are held uptogether it is set to form a hugeTendulkar face. Day three islikely to feature a release of 199balloons with Tendulkar's face onthem. Day four could bring theWest Bengal chief minister tofelicitate Tendulkar. This wassupposed to be a mega eventafter the fifth day's play - withAmitabh Bachchan and Shah

'Salute Sachin' - the CAB's week-long celebration of Tendulkar

of it. If he takes time out andexplores the city, he is likely tofind cut-outs of himself, bighoardings with different people'squotes on him - the one whereDon Bradman says he saw a bitof himself in Tendulkar is themost common - and finally bigger

cut-outs when he reaches EdenGardens for practice on Monday.

Now all this might not cometo pass - there is a Test matchagainst West Indies to be played- but the plans in place areambitious and elaborate. Today, the CAB president and the state

Rukh Khan, who will be here forthe Kolkata film festival, supposed to join the WestBengal chief minister - but thegovernment is not so sure thematch will last the five days.Advancing the event into thefourth day needs the ICC's clearance. On the fifth day, an aircraft isscheduled to hover over EdenGardens and shower 199 roses.

It is going to be an interestingweek to see how much of thisactually materialises, and if it doeshow Tendulkar handles it all. Hemust already have enough on hismind with this being his lastseries.

WARNE ATTACKS PONTING, COOKShane Warne has accused Ricky Ponting of being motivated by"jealousy" in criticising his Australian captaincy successor MichaelClarke, while also asser ting that Alastair Cook will risk losing theAshes for England should he continue to lead in a "negative" man-ner. In a typically showstopping stream of opinions ahead ofAustralia's return bout with England, Warne leapt to the defence ofhis "best friend" Clarke, arguing that Ponting's written critique ofthe incumbent leader in his autobiography was the result of bitter-ness. He also said Ponting's actions did not compare favourablywith those of Allan Border and Mark Taylor, the "two best captains"the former legspinner played under. "I know he beats himself upmercilessly about being the only Australian captain ever to losethree Ashes," Warne said in a press conference call with Englishmedia for the Ashes broadcaster Sky Spor ts. "And I know Rickymade that horrific decision to put England in at Edgbaston in 2005.I don't want to be mean about Ricky - he's a good guy and he triedto do the best he could. "But to bring up the stuff about Pup [Clarke]- maybe there was a bit of jealousy, because Pup was batting sowell and Ricky was not making any runs. To me, Michael's verywell respected. The best captains keep stuff in the dressing room.No-one ever finds out about it. That's what good leaders are about. So to hear all this in a book is pretty ordinary." Cook's leadership ofEngland has thus far been characterised by a close relationshipwith the coach Andy Flower and a calm guiding hand rather thanany great invention in the field. England's preferred approach is ofa more conservative nature than that of Clarke and the Australian

coach Darren Lehmann. "If Michael Clarke did the same things, I'dsay he was negative, but he's not. That's not the way he captains,"Warne said. "Cook can be negative, boring, not very imaginative -and still win and be pretty happy. But I think he needs to be moreimaginative. If Australia play well and he continues to captain theway he does, I think England are going to lose the series."I don't think he can captain like that - and I'm not working in anycapacity whatsoever for Cricket Australia. Darren Lehmann is agood mate of mine, and Michael Clarke is my best friend, of courseI speak to them a lot but I call it as I see it. And I'm not the only onewho thinks Alastair Cook is a negative captain.
