NOTE 1. Applicants should produce all the original marks cards/transcripts/documents of the copies enclosed with the application,at the time of counselling-cum-admission, along with one set of photocopies.

2. When once the seats are filled up in all the categories, further councelling-cum-admission process stands cancelled.

3. Daily seat availability status will be available on the UAS(B) Website.

1. Applicant should produce the Certificate-A, provided in the Prospectus only, claiming a seat under Agriculturist’s quota.

2. Format of Affidavit as provided in the Prospectus (Certificate - B) to be submitted by the applicant / parent / guardian who has othersources of income in addition to Agriculture, Salary (Salary certificate from Employer - Certificate - C).

NOTE 1. The candidate will not be allowed to take the Practical Test if he/she fails to produce the above certificates as given in theProspectus (Certificates-A, B & C, as applicable) at the time of Practical Test.

THE UNIVERSITY AT A GLANCE

The University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, an autonomous body came into existence on6-6-1963. The mission of the University is to achieve excellence in teaching, research and extensionservices related to agriculture and allied sciences. The University endeavours to keep pace with newfrontiers of science and contemporary developments, to be scientifically and technically competent.In this context, the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore is strongly committed to absorbingnewer paradigms in science and technology and ensure their dissemination to the farmingcommunity of the state and the country.

The University, in addition to main campus at GKVK, Bangalore, has Colleges in five teaching campuses,offering degree programmes in seven disciplines and diplomas in five disciplines in agricultureand allied subjects, Postgraduate programmes in 21 disciplines at Master’s level, including MBA(Agri-business Management) and 13 disciplines at Ph.D. level. Research infrastructure consists of 21Research Stations of which 6 are Zonal Agricultural Research Stations (ZARS). The University Extensionprovides service through Extension Education Units, Krishi Vignana Kendras, Farmers Training Institute,Staff Training Unit, Bakery Training Unit, Agricultural Technology Information Centre andCommunication Centre covering Development and Communication of Farm Information; FarmAdvisory Service, Farm trials and demonstrations, Village adoption, Training of extension workers,farmers and farm women in addition to publication of scientific journals and other literature. oneyear Diploma in Baking Technology was started during 2006-07, Diploma in Agricultural ExtensionService for input Dealers (DAESI), Diploma in Sericulture were started during 2007-08 & postgruduatecertificate course on Biosafety in plant Biotechnology was started during 2008-09. Two years Diplomain Agriculture Course was started during 2011-12.

The University was recognised as the best Agricultural University in the country for the year 2001 bythe ICAR conferring the Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution Award for excellence in Teaching,Research and Extension. The University bagged the first place in ICAR’s All India CompetitiveExamination for Junior Research Fellowship during 2003 and 2005. The Krishi Vignana Kendra, Hassanreceived the best KVK Award for the Biennium 2002-2003 for outstanding contribution in the fieldof Technology Transfer, Refinement and Training. The UASB Students secured overall Championshipin the 5th (2003-04) and the 8th (2006-07) All India Inter-Agricultural Univesity Sports and GamesMeet, and Athletic Championship (Men) in the 7th (2005-06) and the 8th (2006-07) All India InterAgricultural University Sports and Games meet and overall Runnerup Trophy in the 7th All India InterAgricultural University Youth Festival 2005-06 and the Overall Championship in the 10th All India InterAgricultural University Youth Festival 2008-09 and 2010-11. The UAS Bangalore ranked third among StateAgriculture Universities in India in 2008.

UAS Bangalore has a Student’s placement-cum-counselling cell since 2004-05 for the benefit of finalyear UG and PG students. Till now, various Organizations/ Institutions/Companies like Indan OverseasBank, Vijaya Bank, Canara Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, IFFCO,Zuari, Nagarjuna, Monsanto, NUNHEMS, Namdhari Seeds, Koramandal International Company etc. haveconducted campus Interviews to recruit the deserving candidates. A total number of 200 studentshave been recruited by the companies during the year 2010-11 and 140 students during 2011-12through placement cell.

The University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore known as UAS (B) has the main campus at GKVK, Bangaloreand teaching campuses at Hassan, Mandya, Shimoga, Ponnampet and Chintamani.

ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

Candidates seeking admission to Agriculture and Allied courses in the University should have passed the two-

year PUC of Karnataka with 45 % or its equivalent and should have secured a minimum of 45% in PCB and any

other Science subject or Inter(Agri) for Courses at Sl. No. 1 to 4. Candidates seeking admission to Agriculture

and Allied courses in the University should have passed the two-year PUC of Karnataka with 45 % or its

equivalent and should have secured aminimum of 45% in PCM and any other Science subject or Inter(Agri) for

Courses at Sl. No. 5 to 7. Incase of SC/ST, Cat I & OBC candidates minimum of 40% in aggregate as well as inPCM/PCB optionals is required.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATE

1. The information / particulars furnished by the candidate in his/her application form is FINAL.

2. Submission of any documents / Certificates will not be entertained, once the applications are recieved at this office.

3. All the certificates produced to claim the reservations must be valid and dated on or before the last date prescribed for thesubmission of application form (i.e., 29-6-2012).

4. Before claiming eligibility, make sure that you satisfy any one of the eligibility clauses detailed in the Prospectus (A to N).The candidate who does not satisfy any of the eligibility clauses is ineligible.

5. If the information furnished by the candidate in the application form and/or any other documents submitted by the candidate/ parents is found to be false / incorrect, the admission will be cancelled at any point of time during his/her course of studyand criminal proceedings will be initiated.

6. Before submitting the filled-in application form along with one set of photo copies of the relevant documents to the Registrar,UAS, Bangalore, the candidate should keep a photocopy of the filled-in application form for reference/correspondence.

7. A candidate who has studied TEN full academic years continuously from the 1st to the 10th standard in Kannada Mediumis eligible to claim reservation under the Kannada Medium Quota.

8. All the candidates must compulsorily produce the STUDY CERTIFICATE from the head of the institution from where thecandidate passed the 10th standard / SSLC examination, by mentioning the Standards, Academic years, Caste and MotherTongue as per the admission register of the institution. The General Merit candidates may not mention their CASTE in theirstudy certificate.

9. Candidates belonging to “Reserved Categories” should submit the caste - income certificate as the case may be(2011-12) issued by the Tahsildar in the Form 'D' for SC/ ST, in the Form 'E' for Category-1 and in the Form 'F' for 2A, 2B, 3Aand 3B categories.

10. A candidate who claims seat under Rural Category has to furnish rural study cetificate from the respective school/highschool from the head of the institution and countersigned by the concerned Block Education Officer (BEO) as per the formatin the prospectus.

11. The general merit candidate who claims the seat in the rural category should submit the latest income certificate issuedby the concerned Tahsildar along with the rural study certificate, as per the format in the prospectus.

12. A candidate who has studied in areas mentioned in Schedule II in the prospectus is not eligible to claim the rural categoryseat. However, if the places where the candidate studied from 1st to 10th standards had been declared as a rural area at thetime of his / her study, he / she will be eligible under rural quota, even though the same place has been declared as urbanarea later.

13. The candidate seeking admission under the NCC and the Sports category has to furnish a certificate from the Head of theInstitution where he/she has studied from 8th to12th standards, for having participated in the NCC/Sports events and shouldcompulsorily produce the same along with the original NCC/Sports certificates at the time of counselling-cum-Admission asin the prospectus.

14. The SC, ST, Category-I and OBC eligibility criteria are applicable to persons of Karnataka origin who claim eligibility for seatsunder clauses (a), (b), (f ), (h), (j), (k) and (l) and the same is not applicable to candidate seeking admission under clauses (c),(d), (e), (g), (i) and (m) as in the prospectus.

15. The candidate belonging to Scouts & Guides, Defence, Ex-Servicemen, Anglo-Indian and CAPF categories i.e.,sub-clauses (c), (d), (e) and (g), will be permitted to opt for seats in the respective special categories as per the order ofmerit ONLY during the general counselling-cum-admission process.

16. Candidates who cannot attend the councelling-cum-admission due to unavoidable circumstances (with valid reseasons) (1stRound or Casual Round) can authorise a representitive to attend the Counselling-cum-Admission by filling the respectiveformats provided in the prospectus.

17. All the original documents are to be submitted by the candidate to the respective colleges on the orientation day and register.

18. The provisionally selected candidates for admission to UG programme are required to submit a medical certificate issued byGovt. Doctor of respective taluk/district, if they are suffering from chronic illness.

19. Inter campus/inter degree transfer will not be entertained, once the option for admission is excersised andcompleted.

16. After filling the application form, the candidate and parents/Guardian (only if both parents are not alive) should affixtheir COMPLETE SIGNATURE in the respective places provided along with date. The candidate should sign on theapplication form i.e., on the photograph and below the declaration.

DOMICILE REQUIREMENT

The candidate should be the citizen of India and must satisfy one of the following eligibility criteria/conditions laid downunder Clauses A to O for admission to under-graduate degree programmes. The candidate who does not satisfy any of theClauses/eligibity criteria/conditions detailed below will not be eligible for admission. Each condition is specified as a clauseand is individually referred by a code. Candidate is required to furnish certified copies of the documents in support of his/her claims only in such cases for which formats/certificates are not provided in the application.

The candidate should have studied and passed in one or more Government or Government recognisededucational institutions located in the State of Karnataka for a minimum period of SEVEN academic yearscommencing from the 1st standard to the 2nd year PUC/12th standard as on 1st July of the year and musthave appeared and passed either SSLC/10th standard or 2nd PUC/12th standard examination from KarnatakaState.

In the case of a candidate who has taken more than one year to pass a class or standard, the years of academicstudy is counted as one year only.

RESERVATION OF SEATSAdmission to the University is made subject to reservation of seats for1) Agriculturists or children of Agriculturists as defined in the Act of UAS, 2009 Bangalore (23.8%) : “Agriculturist”, for

this purpose means a person who, as owner or tenant, holds land and whose main source of income is from personal cultivationof the land, including any person whose principal means of livelihood is from manual labour in Agricultural land. Theseats under this quota will be filled on the Ranks prepared based on the marks scored in the Practical Test conducted by theUniversity and marks secured in PUC (PCB / PCM, 50% weightage) followed by Counselling-cum-Admission as per the Rank List.

2) General seats (76.2%) : For both Agriculturist and general quota, vertical reservation is given as per the existing reservationpolicy of Government of Karnataka i.e., reservation shall be made in favour of candidates belonging to Schedule Caste, ScheduleTribe and other Backward Classes (OBC) as notified by the Government of Karnataka under categories : Category -1, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B in accordance with the Government order No. SWL 251 BCA 94 Bangalore dated 31-1-1995 and asamended from time to time, and will be filled through counselling.

For each of the vertical category under item (1) and (2) mentioned above, the following reservations are made horizontally asunder:

a) RURAL : Fifteen per cent of the seats will be reserved horizontally in favour of rural candidates who have studied for 10 fullacademic years from the 1st Standard to the 10th Standard in educational institutions situated in the state of Karnataka otherthan larger urban area, smaller urban area or transitional area as mentioned in Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964 or KarnatakaMunicipal Corporations Act, 1976, in accordance with the Government order No. ED 01 TEC 2002, Bangalore, dated 01-02-2002and the eligibility criteria shall be as defined in the Karnataka Reservations of Appointments of Posts in the Civil Services of theState for Rural Candidates Act, 2000 (Karnataka Act 1 of 2001).

The candidates whose parents do not come under the creamy layer and the candidates who have studied TEN full academicyears from the 1st Standard to the 10th Standard in places other than the places mentioned in Schedule II will be eligible forclaiming the benefit of Rural reservations. However, if the candidates have studied in these places from the 1st to the 10thstandard before the Notification as Urban area, such candidates are eligible to claim rural reservations benefits as per ScheduleII given in the Prospectus.

b) KANNADA MEDIUM STUDY : Five per cent of the seats will be reserved horizontally in favour of the Kannada MediumCandidates who have studied TEN full academic years in Kannada Medium from the 1st Standard to 10th Standard, in accordancewith the Government Order No. ED 118 UEC 2000, Bangalore dated 04-06-2000 and as amended vide Government Order No.Ed 02 UEC 2002, Bangalore dated 14-10-2005.

3) SPECIAL CATEGORIES : Provision is made under horizontal reservation of seats (12%) to the following special categories.

the SUPER - A Games or A - Games specified in SCHEDULE -1 during the five year period of study in Karnataka between 8th

and 12th Standards.iv) Who has represented Karnataka State in ‘B-Games’ specified in SCHEDULE -1 and won medals/cups during the five year period

of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th Standards.v) Who has represented Karnataka State in any sports or games in ‘B-Games’ specified in SCHEDULE - 1 during the five year

period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th Standards.

The candidates who have won Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals in SUPER-A GAMES will be considered FIRST. Medal winners inA-GAMES will be considered SECOND. Medal winners in B-GAMES and participant in SUPER-A or A-GAMES will be consideredTHIRD. Candidates who have won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in B-GAMES will be considered FOURTH. Among the Sportscandidates in each group, the Medals won by the candidates in the events OR Games of Sports will also be considered.Priority will be Gold to Silver and Silver to Bronze, irrespective of number of medals.

Provided that for selection of a reserved seat in Sports category, the candidate who belongs to sub-clause (i) shall be consideredfirst; candidate who belongs to sub-clause (ii) shall be considered second; candidate who belongs to sub-clause (iii) shall beconsidered third and the candidate who belongs to sub-clause (iv) shall be considered fourth before considering the candidatebelonging to sub-clause (v).

Candidates claiming eligibility under Clause (e) of this brochure should produce the certificate of employment issued by theControlling Office in the precribed format as given in Certificate-XIV where the parent is working, indicating the period during whichthe parent had worked in Karnataka.

Government Hospital located in the State of Karnataka in the field of concerned disability. Candidates suffering from hearingdisability should compulsorily obtain and produce a BSER (Brain Stem Evoked Response) Audiometry report from NIMHANS /Manipal Hospital/Government Speech and Hearing Institute, Lingarajapuram, Bangalore.

2) The candidate claiming a seat under the persons with disability category should appear on the appointed day before the MedicalBoard constituted by the Director of Medical Education, consisting of the Special Officer, three specialists, One each from theDepartment of Orthopaedics, Opthalmology and ENT. The Medical Board shall examine the candidate Certificate and certifyregarding the percentage of disability and the decision of the medical board shall be final. For the purpose of this provison,persons with the disability shall have the same meaning assigned to it, in the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities,Protection of Rights and Participation) Act. 1995 (Central Act. 1/1995). The candidate suffering from less than forty per cent ofdisability shall not be eligible for selection of seat under Physically Disabled category.

g) CANDIDATES OF ANGLO-INDIAN COMMUNITYCandidates have to enclose a copy of the certificate issued by the Registered Association of Anglo-Indian community in the Stateof Karnataka countersigned by the Anglo-Indian MLA nominated by the Government, failing which they will not be allowed for theseat selection under Anglo-Indian category.

h) CANDIDATES OF CENTRAL ARMED POLICE FORCECandidates claiming eligibility under Clause (o) of this prospectus should produce a certificat from the record office of the CAPF inthe presbribed format as given in certificate XVIII indicataing that the parent had declared a place in Karnataka as his hometownat the time of joining the service. The candidat should produce the relevant certificate.

NOTE : 1. Candidates belonging to Scouts & Guides, Defence, Ex-servicemen and Anglo-Indian i.e., sub-clauses (c), (d), (e) and (g)above, will be allowed to select the respective special category seats as per their merit order ONLY during counselling-cum-admission process along with the other general merit and reserved category candidates.

2. Candidates who are having only ‘B’ certificate under NCC will be eligible to opt for NCC special category seats, if any, during

4. Achievements made by the NCC / Sports special category candidates in the events / games, till the date of counselling, will beconsidered for selection of seats in the respective categories.

NOTE : 1.The following candidates are not eligible for claiming reservation seats under 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B as per the G.O. No. SWD225 BCA 2000 dated 30th March 2002, and as amended from time to time (New comprehensive creamy layer policy).

ii) The candidate and either of whose parent / guardian is a Group -A or Group - B officer in the services of theGovernment or holds an equivalent post in public sector undertakings or an employee of a private industry/Institutionand draws a salary which is not less than that of a Group-B officer (pay scale Rs. 6,000-11,200 pre revised).

iii) The candidate and his/her father’s/mother’s/guardian’s gross annnual income exceeds Rs. 3.50 lakhs (GO No.SaKaE104BCA 2011 Dtd. 06-02-2012).

iv) The candidate and his/her father’s/mother’s/guardian’s holding 10 units of Agricultural Land as specified in theKarnataka Land Reforms Act 1961 and such of those holding more than 20 acres of plantation land.

2. Candidate claiming reservation under SC/ST and other Backward classes (Category-1, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B) shall have to producethe valid certificate in the prescribed proforma as under (Format II, III, IV in the Prospectus). The candidate claimingreservation benefits should also submit a duly sworn Affidavit as per the prescribed Format V given along with Caste/ Income Certificate.

3. Candidate claiming reservation under Special categories i.e., NCC / Sports / Scouts and Guides / Defence / Ex-Servicemen/ Anglo-Indians / Physically Disabled / CAPF shall produce valid documents, which are subject to scrutiny/verification andconfirmation by the relevant authorities. However, the selection for Physically Disabled category is subject to the conditionthat candidate with less than 40 per cent disability is not eligible.

4. Candidate claiming reservation under RURAL CATEGORY is governed by the G.O. No. ED 01 TEC 2002 Bangalore dated01-02-2002 of Government of Karnataka and as amended from time to time. They are required to produce study certificateas in the Format VII in the Prospectus, certified by the concerned authorities duly affixing the signature, seal and datein the application format. The list of places which do not come under purview of rural area is also enclosed for readyreference (Schedule-II).

Note : The candidate whose parents come under CREAMY LAYER are not eligible for claiming the benefit of ruralreservations.

5. Candidates claiming reservation for studying in Kannada medium are required to produce certificate as in the FormatVIII furnished in the Prospectus, certified by the concerned authorities duly affixing the signature, seal and date.

6. Candidates claiming reservation under agriculturist’s quota i.e., Agriculturist or children of agriculturist’s includingAgricultural labour, should furnish the Certificate (A) as provided in the Prospectus as applicable, duly certified by theRevenue Tahsildar of the area affixing the signature, seal and date. In case of candidates whose parent draw salary, arerequired to produce a Salary Certificate (Certificate - C as in the Prospectus). In the case of candidates whose parentshave other sources of income in addition to Agriculture and salary they are required to produce an Afficavit (Certificate- B as in the Prospectus).

7. If any seats reserved in favour of candidates under vertical reservation, referred above are not filled up due to non-availability of eligible candiates, such vacant seats shall stand transferred to the General Merit. if any seats reservedin favour of candidates belonging to special category referred to above fall vacant due to non availabitity of eligiblecandidates belonging to such categories shall stand cancelled.

8. Candidates from states other than Karnataka are not eligible to seek admission directly for Under-graduatedegree Programmes in the University. However, 15% of seats (over and above regular intake) is at the disposal ofICAR in Under Graduate degree programmes for allotment to different categories in accordance with ICAR rules governingadmissions. They can apply to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. They will have to submit a separateapplication as and when called by ICAR, New Delhi and take All India Competitive Examination and attend Counsellingat New Delhi for seat allotment. 9. Foreign Nationals and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) / Children of NRIs : There is also a provision for filling 15 percent of seats in Agriculture and allied courses over and above the prescribed intake, in the case of eligible Foreign Nationals/ NRIs / Children of NRIs, irrespective of the place of previous education under the special quota. They should apply directlyto the Registrar, University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK, Bangalore - 560 065 along with the educationalcertificates, proof of status of NRI and other relevant documents.

Candidates belonging to Foreign Nationality shall send their applications through Indian Council of Agricultural Researchor Agencies / Consultants nominated by ICAR / GOI, New Delhi through their embassies. PRACTICAL TEST : The candidates who fail to appear for PT and those candidates who attend the Practical Test butscore less than 100 marks in PT are not eligible for claiming seats under the Agriculturist’s quota. A Practical Test isconducted for 200 marks in the University on the specified date and time and the candidates are required to identify 40 specimens- agri inputs - seeds, fertilizers, pesticides; equipments / agri implements, materials/live materials-plants, related to Agriculture(including Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, Agriculture Engineering, Sericulture and Forestry) and Allied Sciences (includingVeterinary, Dairy and Fishery) subjects.

CASUAL VACANCY ROUND SEAT SELECTION PROCESS

After the completion of admission round seat selection, all the unfilled/surrendered/forfeited/cancelled newly added seats, if any,will be offered as CASUAL VACANCIES. All candidates who have selected a seat and obtained admission orders in respect of theseat selected in the admission round whether reported to the college or not, will be eligible to participate in the Casual Vacancyround along with all those candidates who have not selected any seat in any of the stages in the admission round. The candidateswho participate in the Casual Vacancy Round for the first time should invariably submit the required documents in Original alongwith one set of attested photocopies and be ready to pay the prescribed fees without fail if seat is alloted.

The candidates who have selected seats in the admission round will have the following three options when their turn comes inthe casual vacancy round;

1. If the candidate is satisfied with the seat selected during the admission round he / she can continue in the same seat. OR

2. A candidate can select a seat afresh in the order of merit, the fee paid during the admission round if any, willbe adjusted for the seat selected and a fresh admission order will be issued to the candidate. The seat selectedin the admission round will get automatically cancelled, and will be immediately added to the seat matrix(displayed on the screen) to the same college, course / category, upon selection of a seat in this round

3. A candidate can cancel the alloted seat when his / her turn comes in this round by forfeiting the full fee paidexcept caution money deposit which will be refunded on the spot.

Important Note : (1) The candidate who select casual vacancy seats should invariably report to the respectivecolleges along with fee paid receipt issued by UAS (B) on the day of commencement of semester (06-08-2012).

(2) If a candidate decides to surrender the seats, he / she has to surrender the seat only to UAS (B) in writingmerely not reporting to the selected college should not be presumed by the candidate that he / she hassurrendered the seat to UAS (B)

The casual vacancy round seat selection process will be held as per the schedule given in (page no. i & ii) of thebrouchure. In the first instance Casual Vacancy Round will be held in order of merit and category wise.

COUNSELLING-CUM-ADMISSIONThe candidate has to appear for counselling-cum-admission on the dates as indicated in the(i) page of this prospectus based on the percentage of PCB / PCM marks of II PUC . Fee for Foreign Nationals/NRIs/Children of NRIs/SAARC Country nominees.Foreign Nationals / Children of NRIs are required to pay US $ 4000 per annum as Institutional fees in addition to other fees prescribedfor respective degree programmes. However, the candidates from SAARC Countries have to pay US $ 2000 per annum besidesregular fees.

Note : 1. Fees once paid shall not be refunded/returned, except caution money deposit.

2. Fees collected shall be adjusted in case, the student is admitted to any other Under graduate programme within the UAS(B) during the same academic year.

3. Caution money is refundable on successful completion of the degree programme for which a candidate is admitted or onleaving the degree programme.

REGISTRATIONAll the students admitted to different degree programmes shall register for the relevant courses in person (i.e. on06-08-2012). Failure to register for courses in the first Semester on or before this date, in person results in forfeitureof the admission granted.

Orientation programmes shall be conducted by the Deans of the concerned college for the benefit of newly admitted candidates.

Students who have registered for the first semester should complete at least one course satisfactorily earning a grade otherthan SA (Shortage of Attendance) or F (Fail), failing which the admission shall stands cancelled. However, in genuine cases ofhospitalization resulting in immobilization, a student can be exempted provided he/she produces sufficient proof. The genuinenessof such cases shall be examined by a Committee constituted for the purpose.

Candidates admitted to Under-graduate degree programmes shall not be permitted to drop the first semester. Since admissionof such students shall stands automatically cancelled.

SCHOLARSHIP AND STUDENT FREESHIPThe University awards Merit Scholarships, General Scholarships and Free Studentship to the students as per University Regulations/ Government Orders. Limited Financial assistance shall be provided to the poor and needy students as per University guidelinesfrom Students Aid Fund. For award/renewal of General Scholarships, the income certificate submitted at the time of Admissionshall be considered for all the years of their study. Unless and otherwise a fresh certificate is submitted for consideration

HOSTELHostel accommodation shall be provided on the campuses to the extent available on the first-cum-first serve basis.

The Campus

College of Agriculture, established in the 1964, has 18 Departments, housed in the University main campus, which has anarea of 1398 acres. Besides, several AICRP projects/ schemes are also located on this campus. The College offers threebachelor degree programmes, with a total strength of 942 students, Masters degree programme in 24 subjects and Doctoraldegree in 13 subjects. The college has been accredited by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research, New Delhi, based onthe quality of teaching and research and extension.

Placement Cell

UAS Bangalore has a Student’s placement-cum-counselling cell since 2004 for the benefit of final year UG and PG students.Till now, various Organizations/ Institutions/Companies like Indian Overseas Bank, Vijaya Bank, Canara Bank, Oriental Bank ofCommerce, Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, IFFCO, Zuari, Nagarjuna, Monsanto, NUNHEMS, Namdhari Seeds, CoromandelInternational etc. have conducted campus interviews to recruit the best minds. A total number of 200 students have beenrecruited by companies during the year 2010-11 and 140 students during 2011-12 through placement cell.

The Campus

The College of Agriculture, V.C. Farm, Mandya was established in the year 1991, under UAS(B) and is located in Visveswaraiah

Canal Farm Campus popularly known as V.C.Farm about 8 km away from Mandya town on Mandya-Melukote Road. The

Campus encompasses other sister institutions viz., Zonal Agricultural Research Station (ZARS), Krishi Vignana Kendra (KVK)

under UAS(B) and District Agricultural Training Centre (DATC) under Dept. of Agriculture. The college has been accredited by

the Indian Council for Agricultural Research, New Delhi, based on the quality of teaching and research and extension.

Student Strength

The lush green campus has an area of 610 acres of which college occupies 55 acres of land. The college offers B.Sc.(Agri.)

degree programme, Diploma in Agriculture (Four semesters) and Diploma in Extension Services for Agricultural Input

Dealers (Two semesters). The current student strength of the campus is given below.

Infrastructure Facilities

The college campus is bestowed with good infrastructural facilities with sate of art smart-classrooms. The campus also has

well equipped laboratories, field laboratories, computer labs with internet facilities, a well-equipped examination hall and

seminar hall, computerized library with text books, journals, CDs and internet terminals, Plant health clinic and diseases

forecasting unit,

Well established sports ground athletic track, one Teachers hostel, Dispensary with Assistant Medical Officer to provide

medical care for the students and resource centre for students and staff.

The campus houses separate hostels for Boys and Girls equipped with gymnasium and recreational facilities and internet

facility.

The college has qualified and experienced faculty and three teachers have obtained national awards. Many teachers of this

college are actively pursuing research and recognized as post-graduate teachers.

Students Accomplishments

The students of this campus have set an excellent track record by garnering 113 Gold Medals from 18 batches since

inception. A record of 12 Gold Medals were secured by students of this college during 43rd Convocation of UAS(B) during

2008. During the year 2011-12 a record of 12 students represented the University team in Inter University sports and games

meet at Akola in Maharastra and secured 8 medals.

College of Agriculture, Karekere, Hassan

The Campus

As a part of Government Policy to ruralize Agricultural Education in the country, a new Agricultural College was started atHassan in the year 2006. The College Campus has 184.25 acres of land which is opposite to Agricultural Research Station andBiofuel Park, Madenur which is located at 19 kms from Hassan on Hassan-Bangalore Highway (NH-48). Hassan is wellconnected by road and rail. The nearest airports are Bangalore and Mangalore. The college has been accredited by the IndianCouncil for Agricultural Research, New Delhi, based on the quality of teaching and research and extension.

Three degree programs viz. B.Sc. (Agri.), B,Sc. (Ag. Biotech) and B.Tech (Food Science and Technology) are being offered atthis campus.

At present 600 students, 299 girls, 301 boys, and two foreign students are studying in the campus.

Infrastructure

Agricultural college is a three storied structure with separate lecture halls, examination halls, computer lab, seminar hall,conference hall, museum hall. All departments associated with agriculture and allied subjects have individual and spaciouslaboratories. Field facilities enable experiential learning of agricultural students and facilitate faculty research.

A central instrumentation lab provides common facility for all students of this college and this lab is equipped with lowpressure binary gradient, HPLC system with UV-Vis. detector, atomic absorption spectrometer, UV-Vis. spectrophotometer,fully automated soxhlet system, semiautomatic kjeldahl system, flame photometer etc. Besides central instrumentation, acentral computer facility with 50 computers and internet connectivity is also available for students.

A fully functional library with more than 8000 accessions in all the concerned core subjects and allied subjects strengthensthe teaching and learning programs. The library also has a digital archive (CD ROM), text book specific online study materials,Online Journals, Offline Databases accessible through a separate gateway with several computers and high speed internetconnectivity. This library is also associated with ICAR-NAIP Program which provides access to 1706 full text peer reviewedjournals related to the field of Agriculture and allied subjects.

The hostels are well furnished with solar water heater and other amenities. A shopping complex is available in the campuswith photocopier, canteen, post office and bank facilities. A separate hospital also exists for the benefit of students.

Faculty

The college has qualified and experienced faculty and three teachers have obtained national awards. Many teachers of thiscollege are actively pursuing research and recognized as post-graduate teachers.

Student Accomplishments

A number of students of this campus have been awarded prestigious ICAR JRF, JNU-All India Biotechnology fellowship,several international fellowships and other fellowships and awards. Many have been qualified in the entrance examinationsof various state and central Agricultural Universities.

College of Agriculture, Navile, Shimoga

The Campus

The college is located on a small but beautiful campu spred over 195 acres. The College of Agriculture was established in

1990 at Navile, Shimoga. The campus is located five kms from Shimoga bus terminus on Shimoga–Shikaripur state highway

adjacent to Jawarharlal Nehru National College of Engineering.

The Navile campus itself was established in the year 1976 as Regional Tobacco Research Station, to take up research on FCV

tobacco. Later, it was elevated to the Regional Research Station in the year 1982 to take up NARP research on rainfed

cropping systems. followed by establishment of Areca Research Station (2001). The college offers Bachelor’s degree

programme in Agriculture and Master’s degree programme in Agricultural Entomology, Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry,

Agronomy and Plant Pathology. The college has been accredited by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research, New Delhi,

based on the quality of teaching and research and extension.

A total of 259 under graduate students (147 boys and 112 girls), including ICAR students, are on rolls. The strength of PG

students on the campus is 27 students (16 boys and 11 girls).

Infrastructure facilities

The college has well equipped labs in all disciplines for teaching and research purposes. The lecture halls are equipped with

electronic teaching equipment for better learning experience. The college has computer lab with 50 nodes and also

supported by and ARIS networking lab with 30 computers for faculty and students. A well equipped seminar Hall and a multi

-purpose hall facilitates conduct of scientific and cultural programmes.

Learning centre on the campus comprises an Instructional farm, horticulture garden, nursery, organic farming block, wet

land, livestock, fishery , compost units and fodder museum. The students have access to a well stocked library housing 12,734

accession of books, CD-ROM’s, e-library and internet facility.

A well developed hostel facility for both boys and girls with accommodation capacity for200 boys and 150 girls. The campus

also has a furnished guest house for visiting dignitaries and parents of students.

Student counseling unit for personality development and motivation of students.

Complementary to this the campus has well established cricket ground registered by KSCA and multi-gymnasium centre at

Boys’ hostel.

The college has qualified and experienced faculty and three teachers have obtained national awards. Many teachers of this

college are actively pursuing research and recognized as post-graduate teachers.

Students’ Accomplishments

The students of this campus have represented the university in many State /National level sports and cultural activities and

brought laurels to the campus in particular and to the University in general.

Several students of this campus have bagged gold medals at the university convocation for overall academic excellence.

Many of these students were also awarded ICAR Junior Research Fellowships to pursue their higher education. The students

have also excelled in co-curricular activities by securing gold medals in sports and cultural events at National level.

The Campus

The College of Sericulture was established in 1995 in Chintamani campus, which is 75 km away from Bangalorecity. The college is located on a 200 acres campus at Kurbur, 7 km from Chintamani on Chintamani-Kolar road.The college offers two degree programmes viz., B.Sc. (Seri.) and B.Sc. (Agri.). The college has been accreditedby the Indian Council for Agricultural Research, New Delhi, based on the quality of teaching and research andextension.

The college has adopted total quality management approach to produce graduates to match with the requirementsof emerging global market.

Infrastructure

Well equipped laboratories have been established in all the subjects of agriculture and sericultural disciplines.Experiential learning is facilitated by an established farm and field laboratories for both students and faculty.State of the art class rooms, seminar hall, conference room, computer laboratory, well equiped and maintainedlibrary.

College of Forestry, Ponnampet, Kodagu

The Campus

College of Forestry, Ponnampet is a constituent college under University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore established

during the year 1995 at Ponnampet, Kodagu district in the midst of Western Ghats. The campus is located at Ponnamapet,

240 kms from Bangalore and can be reached from Mysore by both public and private buses. The college has been

accredited by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi and the Indian Council for Forest Research and

Education and obtained A+ grade based on the quality of teaching and research and extension.

The college is imparting both undergraduate as well as Post Graduate education and producing the well trained man

power required to cater the Forestry professional needs of both government as well non government organizations

including corporate sector. The B. Sc. (Forestry) is a four years degree programme and M. Sc. (Forestry)is two years

programme and also comprises of research component. At present the there are about 170 undergraduate and 10 post

graduate students who are pursuing their degree.

Infrastructure

The college has well established infrastructure including well equipped laboratories, library, indoor hall, separate hostel

facilities for boys, girls and PG students.

The college is ideally located in the Western Ghats: one of the hottest hotspots of Biodiversity and is a very good center

for conducting research. The college has collaborations with esteemed forestry research institutes from all over the

globe and there are visitors and researchers from different parts of the globe visiting the college to undertake research

and to conduct trainings.

Faculty

The College of Forestry has the well qualified faculty engaged in teaching, research and extension activities in the field

of Forestry and related issues.

Accomplishments

The graduates from the college are working as officers in the Forest departments all over the country as IFS officers as

well as forest officers with the state. The alumni are also working in the corporate sectors, nongovernmental organizations.

B.Sc. (Forestry) graduates numbering 120 from Foretry College, UAS, Bangalore have been selected as Range Forest

Officers, 20 graduates have been selected as ACFs and about 15 of graduates from the college have been selected to

the IFS (Indian Forest service).

Opportunities

After graduation students can pursue Master’s degree in Forestry (two years), Environmental Sciences, MBA(ABM),

Wildlife and Conservation Biology programmes offered within the university and other national institutes. The Govt. of

Karnataka has set apart 50 per cent of post for B.Sc. (Forestry) graduates while recruiting Range Forest Officers (RFO)

and Asst. Conservator of Forests (ACF). Forestry is one of the optional subjects for Indian Forest Service (IFS) examination

conducted by UPSC, New Delhi.

Instruction to candidates seekingadmission under Agriculturist’s Quota

1. Candidate claiming seat under Agriculturist’s quotashould enclose photocopies of the relevent Certificates(A or B & C) as provided overleaf, dated on or before thelast date prescribed for submission of application form(i.e. 29-06-2012) and produce the original certificate atthe time of practical test.

2. The detachable certificates alone are to be used for thispurpose.

3. The certificate - A should be signed by the jurisdictionalTahsildar.

4. Photo Identity Card issued by Head of the Institution laststudied should be produced at the time of Practical Test.

5. Certificate either in Kannada or English issued by thecompetent authority (Tahasildar), if it contains all therelevent information mentioned in the formats - A & B, asthe case may be, will also be accepted.

Note : Candidates failing to produce the above documents will not beallowed to take the Practical Test.
