    This isto advisethat twoarmy officersreported totheOffice of the Director of Intelligence, headquarters Alaskan Department,at Fort Richardson, Alaska, that they had witnessed an object passingthrough the air at atremendous rate of speed which could not be judged

    as to miles per hour.

    The first officer stated thathis attention was attractedto

    this airborne object, and he in turn pointed it out to the second of-

    ficer. The object appeared to be shaped like asphere and did not give the irrpression of being saucer-like or comparable to adisk. The first-*officer stated that itwould be impossible to give minute details con-

    cerning the object, but that it appeared to beapproximately two orthreefeet indiameter anddid notleave anyvapor"'trail in thesky; D121"-E :*1f

    _ Both officers attempted to determine the approxiniate altitudeof the object, and from aweather group stationed nearby it was de-termined that cloud formations at the time the object was sighted were"scattered above 10,000 feet." --The object was noted to betravelingbelow the cloud formation. 7

    The first officer stated that in his opinion the object ap-

    peared to be metallic and was silver in color, mach like the colorofmany airplanes.

    ' Thesecond officer stated substantially the samefactsand also pointed out that the object remained within his vision for ap-

    proximately l5 to 20 seconds. When sighted, the object was travelingdue south at aspeed considerably in excess of any plane. The second

    officer stated that the object appearedto him tobe approximately 10 feet indiameter andcompared itto halfthe 5133of a-fullmoononan flyordinary night. The secondofficer based the altitude at approximatelyyathe same as the first officer except for the fact that due to the size
