If you graduated from the university in 2015 or earlier with a bachelor or
corresponding degree, Udmurt State University offers you to consider this syllabi
collection of Master’s degree programs in the Humanities, Natural Sciences and
Engineering.
Udmurt State University welcomes graduates of both Russian and foreign
universities to enter Master’s degree programmes. UdSU is the oldest and
multidisciplinary higher educational institution of Udmurt Republic. For over 80
years of its history UdSU has been celebrating the reputation of scientific,
educational and cultural center of the region.
What is a Master’s degree program? This is the second level of higher education
adopted in the course of reform of the Russian educational system.
UdSU Master’s degree programs offer a perfect balance of research-based theory
and practical application. This approach not only enhances student learning, but
provides graduates with the competitive advantage they desire.
Every year UdSU welcomes more than 400 Master’s degree students from various
regions of Russia, CIS countries and non-CIS countries. Most students use Master
degree programmes to expand their knowledge and skills acquired at the
undergraduate programmes, or to specialize in a certain field.
Though the language of instruction of Master’s degree programmes is Russian,
UdSU provides all foreign students with an opportunity to take courses of Russian
as a foreign language before they are admitted to Master’s degree courses.

Program overview:
This program aims to develop students' competences that will enable them to work
successfully in the field of learning and teaching of the history of Russia, in the field of
ideological, information and analytical work in governmental and municipal authorities, in
mass media and public organizations. History as an independent scientific discipline arises
from the need of people to know its ethnogenesis, roots of their origin, and the historical
path of their country. Thus, History of Russia holds a special place in the modern
Humanities.

Archaeology
Mode and duration of study: full-time (2 years)
Program overview:
The aim of the program is to train specialists for careers in education and science, museum
management, government and municipal administration, and tourism; to provide them with
in-depth knowledge in archaeology, and to equip them with skills for identification, study
and preservation of archaeological heritage and for management of these resources. The
objectives of the program are to improve and advance students’ research competencies in the
field of history and archaeology; to provide students with theoretical underpinnings of the
program; to teach field and paper methods of archaeological work.
This is a unique program as it provides an opportunity for students to carry out research in
groups being a part of the leading scientific school of archaeologists of Udmurt State
University (Head of the school: Prof. Rimma Goldina, Doctor of History, Head of the Kama-
Vyatka archaeological expedition being one of the largest ones in the Urals). Students can
use unique materials and equipment of the University archaeological holding, the Chair of
Archaeology and History of Primitive Society, the Institute of History and Culture of the
Cisurals, and the archaeological museum to conduct independent research.

Modern Museum Studies

Program overview:
The aim of the program is to train specialists who will acquire understanding of historical
and cultural heritage and museum studies and to enable them to work professionally in
education and research institutions, governmental and municipal authorities involved with
culture and tourism. This program will equip students with knowledge and skills required for
being in demand in the labor market as researchers, teachers of higher and secondary
educational institutions, practitioners engaged in research and education for protection and
public awareness campaigns on the rich historical and cultural heritage of Russia and the
world, as well as the modern museum studies.

History of International Relations
Mode and duration of study: full-time (2 years)
Program overview:
The course is first and foremost concerned with the methodology of historical research and
the historiography of international relations. It will provide a system-level outline of the
milestones in the history of international relations, starting with the international relations in
the ancient world, in the Middle Ages, in modern times, placing special attention on the
current foreign policy of the leading world powers, on the history of wars and international
conflicts, on the place of the Eastern countries in the history of international relations. This
course will thus enable students to conduct research in the field of international relations and
foreign policy. The majority of the offered units has an exclusive authoring character and is
designed specifically for this master's program.

Finno-Ugric World in Historical, Cultural,
Political and Social Dimensions
Mode and duration of study: full-time (2 years)
Program overview:
This program aims to train specialists for careers in education, science, mass media, tourism,
governmental and municipal administration, libraries, museums and archives. Upon
completion of the programme students are able to make and implement decisions
considering ethnic and regional (Finno-Ugric) component of social development. Formation
of an expert community on issues of ethnic-regional, linguistic, socio-political, and cultural
development of the Finno-Ugric peoples of Russia is the focal point of the program. Being
interdisciplinary, the programme involves professors from various fields of study: history,
archaeology, ethnography, political science, social geography, sociolinguistics, folklore

This program aims to train bilingual specialists and to develop competencies that will enable
them to do a research in the field of bilingual studies, education and culture, as well as to
carry out educational work (teaching philological disciplines in all types of educational

Environmental Impact Assessment, Protection and Restoration of Environment
Mode and duration of study: part-time (2.5 years)
Program overview:
This program is aimed to provide students with knowledge of statutory documents,
procedures and documentation related to environmental impact assessment of objects of
environmental engineering and water resources management. Students will learn to carry out
expert assessment of the impact of human economic activities on the natural environment.
The completion of the program equips students with skills to work with special computer
programs for calculation of the level of environmental pollution and for assessment of the
environmental impact; to fulfill engineering procedures in the field of environmental
engineering and water resources management; to develop technologies aimed at protecting
and restoring of natural environment in industrial areas. Special attention is placed on study
of eco-technologies applied to manufacturing and air and water treating equipment. The
program involves research on environmental biotechnologies development.
