The great effort to normalising and standardizing made in theUC Series has developed in a wide range of automatic pum-ping equipment for fire fighting services consisting on pumps,motors, starting and switch boards, valves, collector and com-mon base plate, design according to UNE 23.500-90 Standardand CEPREVEN RT2-ABA/1999 technical regulation. Thecharacteristics of the UC Series are:

- Compact design for an equipment studied to Fire Fightingservices.- Duty fulfimente of the in force UNE Standard as well as theCEPREVEN technical regulations commonly requested by theInsurances Companies.- High performance as a pump package: up to 260 m3/h ratedcapacity and up to 95 mcw rated head. Bigger performanceswith independent modules.- Modular design that allows to select any kind of combination:jockey pump wiht one of few main electric ordiesel pumps.- Effective cooled motors.- Ease of installation and minimum mainte-nance.- Assured quality to be designed and manu-factured according to ISO-9001, certificate byLRQA “Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance”.

The compact and standard UC Serie, include horizontalpumps IN Series according to DIN-24255. Regarding the pres-sures and capacities or regulations: ITUR pumps manufactureFire Fighting Equipments with vertical pumps BEV Series, withsplit casing pumps CP Series, or under another internationalregulations (NFPA-20, APSAIRD, F.M., etc.)

The field of applications for the UC Series fire fighting auto-matic equipments from ITUR pumps extends to all kind of ins-tallations for fire protection that call on water as an extinctionagent combined with foam and need to be pressurized so theyare very appropriate in:

The diesel motor cooling circuit has been carefully designed byITUR pumps to achieve an effective, simple and safety sys-tem. The only system that provides an adequated cooling forthe diesel motors in their lower compartments by means of aheat exchanger using the driving water itself for the primary cir-cuit.

The ITUR pumps hydraulic design disregard the electrovalvesand their filters to avoid risks on motor overheating (coils mayburn out, electrovalves or filters may clog, etc.). Is guaranteedthat the main tank will not get empty through the primary coo-lant circuit:

a) Gravity feed tank nearby the equipment: connectingsending back the water to the tank through its upper part.

b) Gravity feed tank far from the equipment: connectingthe returning water to a suction point without any problemwith the inlet air because the tank is gravity feed.

c) Suction tank: sending back the water through its upperpart (the suction tanks are always nearby the pumps).

Is part of the “auxiliary” circuit. Keep the firesystem pressurized restoring small leaksthat might happen but it does not provideenough water to face a fire because is apump with a small flow.

They are high pressure multicellular pumps.Start and stop automatically following apressure switch measured between twovalues: maximum/minimum.

In order to check the leak level in the firesystem , the control board is supplied with astarts meter counter for the Jockey Pump.

On base to the design (horizontal or vertical) and the rated flowprovided, three types are available.

1.-Horizontal pump: axial suction and radial delivery. Weuse the ITUR IN Serie pumps standardized design DIN-24255 and high performance. For higher pressures we usethe ITUR NM Serie pumps standardized to ISO-2858 (EN-22858).

The materials used are of the highest quality. All the frictionparts (shaft sleeve and wear rings) are made of materialscorrosion resistant (stainless steel or bronze). The highresistant shaft can be made of steel carbon (with stainlesssteel sleeve) or stainless steel.

- Standard pump casing: cast iron GG-25.- Special pump casing: nodular (GGG-40) or bronze.- Impeller: bronze (GSnBz10)- Wear Rings: bronze (RG-7) - Shaft: steel (F-114) or stainless steel ( ASIS-316)- Shaft sleeve: stainless steel ( AISI-431B)

If it is not possible to return the water to the tank, connect in any point of the suction pipe.

The coupling with themotor is semi-flexibletype with spacer. Itallows access to thepump interior withoutthe need to removethe pipes or themotor.

Removing the spacerthe coupling is relea-sed. Remove the nutsfrom the cover pumpand the hydraulicequipment will beavailable to work on it.Once it has beenrepaired reassembleit without the need torealing the pump tothe motor.

2.- Split case horizontal pump.

We use the ITUR CP Series pump, axial split case design with thesuction and discharge flanges on line. It is used for high capaci-ties and pressures up to 15 bar.Used materials used are the following:

- Pump casing: GG-25- Impeller: GG-25 (optional GSnBz 10)- Wear rings: GG-25 (optional RG-7)- Shaft: AISI-431B- Shaft sleeve: AISI-431B

The coupling is flexible with axial split membrane for easydismantling. The automatic vent valve is assembled on the top ofthe pump.

3.- Vertical line-shaft pump.We use the ITUR-BEV Serie of pumps vertical submersibledesign consisting on casing pump, column pipe with shaft, discharge head and motor coupling. They are very useful when themain tank is under invert and avoid the unpriming of the pumps inthe surface.

These pumps are made of the following materials:- Standard case and cells: cast iron GG-25.- Special case and cells: nodular GGG-40 or bronze.- Impellers: bronze (GSnBz10)- Pump shaft: stainless steel ( AISI-316)- Suction strainer: Stainless steel ( AISI-316)- Column shaft: steel (F-114)- Column shaft sleeve: stainless steel (ASIS-431B)- Column roller bearing: neopren- Standard column pipe: Steel F-111- Special column pipe: Stainless steel (AISI-316)- Standard discharge head: cast iron GG-25.- Special discharge head: bronze (RG-5)

For seawater pumping, different materials are used, suitable for thisservice (pump casings in bronze, shafts, pipes in stainless steel, etc.)

The designs with screw shaft conectionincorporate a non-spinning device, eitherfor diesel and electric motors.

The electric motors can be with solid shaftor hollow shaft. In the case of solid shaft,the coupling is semi-flexible and the cou-pling lantern holds the roller bearings. Inthe case of hollow shaft the coupling isrigid and the operating efforts are taken bythe roller bearing themselves.

The coupling for diesel motors is made bymeans of gear drive head where the rollerbearings and the non-spinning device arelocated.

The performance curve must cover thenominal design point, nominal flow (Qn),nominal head (Hn) and other points asindicated in the UNE-23.500/90 Standardand the CEPREVEN R.T.2-ABA/1999technical regulation, that means:

- The pump will provide at least 140% ofnominal flow to a head higher 70% tothe nominal head.

- The motor power is the same or higherto the maximum pump input power inany point of its curve.

I.E.C. standardized asynchronous motors IP-65 protection andClass F insulation.

The nominal power for continuos service S-1 for a Class F insula-tion heating required by R.T.2.-ABA/1999 is approximately 10% hig-her than that reflected in the nameplate for Class B heating. Uponrequest, heating resistances are supplied.

Industrial type for stationary service, four stages, diesel cycle,injection, refrigerated by water in dual circuit with exchanger andthe following components:

• Heat exchanger and expansion gear.• Air, oil and fuel filters• Flexible and exhaust silencer• Belt cover• Electric starter• Dual battery set• Two power buttons for emergency• Alternating-current with outlets W,D and B• Electromagnet for stop• Magnetic capsule for overspeed.• Water temperature transmitter• Oil pressure transmitter• Maximum water temperature thermocontact• Minimum oil pressure handcontact• Clock board with:

- Tachometer (rpm)- Hourscounter- Thermometer (water motor temperature ºC)- Pressure gauge (oil motor pressure in Bar)

Net power of diesel motors, higher than the maximum absorbedpower of the pump, is determined by the curve DIN-6270 A, at theduty speed (rpm).

The fuel tank has enough capacity for ensuring a minimum of fourtimes the autonomy required by the most demanding system. It isprovided with an external visual level with isolating valves, empt-ying valve, level indicator for transmitting an alarm at 60 % capa-city, and upper outlet for venting.

The feed piping outlet is located more than 20 mm from the bot-tom of the tank, and the motor connection is performed by meansof flexible pipe protected with metallic mesh.

• Equipment common baseplate. For equipment up to 150 HPwith centrifugal horizontal pumps IN or NM type.

• Discharge enclosed diffuser cones. Designed to decrease thewater speed smoothly.

• Check valves, located in the pump discharge designed to get alow loss of load.

• Spindle gate valve, located in the pump discharge of the mainpump.

• Relief or safety valves. Measured to a lower pressure than themaximum one the pump is operating in order to avoid fault whenworking without capacity.

• Pressure switch and pressure gauge. High quality, and adjus-ted from factory. Besides the starter pressure switch, we install anot-her ones for security in the discharge of each pump to control thepressure once the pump is working.

• Hydroneumatic accumulator. Stamped at 10 or 20 Bar accor-ding to the equipment rated pressure.

• Discharge collector. Ready for a maximum water speed of 3 m/s,with a by-pass deflection to reduce the load loss and avoid turbu-lences.

• Testing set.Is optional. Consists of by-pass deflection, widecurve of 90º, spindle valve and flowmeter. This one is provided to beinstalled in the pipe test that returns to the main supplying tank.

Starter and control board forelectric pumps.According to the applicable speci-fications and regulations.Incorporate extra components(main switch with safety interlock,siren with battery and chargingset, jockey pump signalling, etc.).In equipments with diesel motorwe provide 3 meters flexible wireall connected with and indepen-dent support to avoid vibrationsfrom the diesel motor.

Starter and control board fordiesel pumps.According to the applicable speci-fications and regulations.Incorporate extra components (battery selector, extra optical sig-nalling, etc.). We provide with 3mts flexible wire all connectedwith an independent support toavoid vibrations from the dieselmotor.

Jockey pump.With a small flow and high pressu-re keep the fire system pressuri-zed. Incorporate a startmetercounter in the board to check theleaks in the hydraulic circuit.

Main electric pump.With a high performance standar-dized according to DIN-24255,with a spacer coupling. High qua-lity materials, according to UNEand CEPREVEN Standards.I.E.C. electric motor, IP-55 or IP-23 protection, isolation class F.With heating resistor on request.The motor power is the same orhigher to the maximum pumpinput power on its curve.

Main diesel pump.With a high performance standar-dized according DIN-24255, witha spacer coupling. High qualitymaterials, according regulations.Injection diesel-motor industrialtype for stationary service refrige-rated by exchanger.

Dual battery set.For alternative operation duringthe starting sequences. The con-trol board incorporate chargingset, alarms and instrumentation toknow its situation.

Emergency pushbutton.One for each battery set, theyconnect the battery to the startingmotor.

10 kW (150 HP)- according to UNE and CEPREVEN Standard

Common baseplate.Specially rigid with welded angu-lar sections and four bolts to hangup the equipment during transportand installation.

Diffuser cone.Located in the discharge of themain pump in order to decreasethe water speed smoothly.

Safety pressure valve.Measured to a lower pressurethan the maximum one the pumpis working to avoid operation wit-hout capacity.

Check valve.With a very low loss of load.

Spindle gate valve.Allows to see its situation visually(open/closed). Require more thantwo handwheel turns until its ope-ning or closing is completed.

Discharge collector.Designed for a maximum waterspeed of 3 m/s. The by-pass tothe pump are deflected to reducethe load loss and avoid turbulen-ces.

Hydroneumatic accumulator.Stamped at 10 or 20 bar accor-ding to the equipment rated pres-sure. It is located behind an isola-tion valve.

Starting pressure switch.For the Jockey pump(starting/stop) and for the mainpumps (only starting, stop ismanual).

Safety pressure switch.Located in the pump discharge toverify there is pressure when thepump is working or give the alarmin case there is not pressure.

Pressure gauge.High quality with glycerin inside.

Sealed valve.Adjust the flow to the exchanger.

Jockey pump gate and checkvalves.

Fuel Tank.It has enough capacity forensuring a minimum of four timesthe autonomy required by themost demanding system.

Set of Tests.Optional supply upon request. Itincludes collector bent branch, risingstem valve, 90 º bent and flowmeter. This one is supplied separa-tely for installing in the return piping.

• Cabinet. Fabricated in metal plate, painted inred, with its respective indicating labels.

• Main disconnecting switch with safety inter-lock to avoid access inside the board in casethe current has not been disconnected.Include “padlock” position to prevent theswitch-on board when working with the equip-ment.

• Protection by calibrated fuses.• Controller sequence relay and phase failure.

Control the right sequence in the three electriclines (R-S-T) and a phase failure.

• Pumps starters.• Voltmeter with phase converter. Usually in

the main leading-in current.• Incorporate audible alarm. With indepen-

dent battery and charging set. In that way ispossible to get audible and visual alarms wit-hout tension.

• Emergency stop button. Stop the pumps ope-ration even when the pressure switch is givingstarting orders. Once pushed you must turnthe selectors to position “0” and "automatic".

• Numbered wiring. The electric diagram pro-vided with the board keeps the numberedwiring.

Manufactured according to UNE-23.500/90 Standard and the CEPREVEN R.T.2-ABA/1999 technical regulation, incorporatingimprovements studied by ITUR Pumps that do not figure in such specifications.

The electric pump board include devices for starting and control of Jockey pump and main electric pumps. Consists on:

STARTING AND CONTROL BOARDS FOR ELECTRIC PUMPS

ITUR panel front view board for starting and control of electricpumps. The clarity, order of the alarms and panel control make thethings easier at first glance.

Inside, the numbered wiring, an electric diagram copy and a highquality equipment give safety to the board and to the Fire FightingEquipment itself.

The alarms either visual or audible do not stop the equipment. Theonly way to stop it is manually with the “STOP” push button if is notrequest or with “EMERGENCY BUTTON” if there is any danger forpeople even if is request: in this case we have to set the selector in“0” and again in automatic in order to make the equipment operati-ve.

If the equipment consists only with electric motors, the board isfixed to its supports and these ones to the base plate. If is a dieselmotor, in order to avoid vibrations the board is supplied with threemeters of flexible wiring fixed to the supports with a base. In bothcases, the equipment is totally connected.

Manufactured according to UNE-23.500/90 standard and the CEPREVEN R.T.2-ABA/1999 technical regulation, incorporatingimprovements studied by ITUR Pumps that do not figure in such specifications. The automatic program has starting sequenceof 6 cycle, consisting each of them in a starting try of 15 seconds and one break until the next try of 6 seconds, using in eachcycle one or other battery set. The board consists on:

The advantages of an ITUR compact equipment are many:

- Each pump is tested in the test bench, where we obtain allthe curves performance values.- The equipment is assembled in the factory and tested againwith all its accesories. We check all the starting possiblesequences, board operation, visual and audible alarms, etc.).- The equipment arrives to its destination with a perfect pac-king with instructions and diagrams.- The only thing is needed is to connect the equipment to thefire network and to the electric current. The rest is done.

ITUR Pumps manufacture the equipments UNE & CEPRE-VEN on a common baseplate with all the accessories testedand connected, for horizontal pumps (IN) with power up to 110kW (150 HP) because the total volume equipment can becarried by usual means.

For higher powers or other pumps or more than two mainpumps we supply them on independent baseplate for collectorequipment, valves and accesories and for the boards. In thesecases the whole equipment is re-assembled in the factory andtested before dismantle, pack and transport.

COMPACT EQUIPMENT ADVANTAGE

Compact Fire protection equipment ITUR type UC-130/80-JED, made up of jockey pump, main electric pump of 55 kW and main diesel pump of 56 kW.

Fire protection equipment ITUR made up of two split casing main diesel pumps of 220 kW, arranged in separate foundations.
