(a) A diversity index as here defined ranges from 0% to 50% and is the likelihood of randomly selecting two students of which one is from an underrepresented racial group and the other is from a represented racial group.
(b) A score of 50% shows an equal balance among the racial groups; a score of 0% shown only a single racial group.
(c) As this is a campus diversity index, suggesting the likelihood of a students of various racial groups encountering each other in a cam-pus setting, the University of Maryland-University College was excluded as it is principally a distance-education institution.
(d) Historically Black Institutions (HBIs) are intentionally structured to promote minority opportunities, and will accordingly be less racially diverse.
Definitional notes:
1HBI stands for Historically Black Institution (also referred to as, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU)) 2 Diversity Index equals 1-((column (5)2 + (column (6)2) 3Excludes foreign students and students of unspecified race. 4Under-represented racial group are the racial groups: African-American, American Indian, Hispanic, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, and students of two or more races. 5Represented racial groups are the White and Asian racial groups.

School of Law Library
The Law Library's physical space meshes and mingles with the classrooms, faculty suites and administrative offices of the Law School. Fourteen entrances on six floors in the New John and Frances Angelos Law Cen-ter provide easy access to the Library's information resources, three PC labs and 29 group study rooms.
The Library maintains a print collection of approximately 40,000 volumes, with a similar number of titles in microform. Most legal research is now performed in electronic databases, and the Library manages subscrip-tions to all major legal information providers and provides access to thousands of legal treatises and periodi-cals. It is selective federal depository library in the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP ).
