SouthKorea

On March 19, 2020, the UAE facilitated the evacuation of 80 individuals from Iran in response to a request by the South Korean Government. Among the evacuated individuals were six Iranians.

The evacuation was carried out by transporting South Korean passengers from Tehran on a chartered plane to Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai, and then transporting them by Air Asiana to Incheon International Airport in coordination with the competent authorities and the General Authority for Civil Aviation.

Iran

The UAE turned ExCeL London, the capital’s largest venue for exhibitions and conferences, into an emergency field hospital for the treatment of patients infected with COVID-19. Named the NHS Nightingale Hospital, the new facility will have a capacity of 4,000 beds and will be able to provide a comprehensive range of medical support facilities. The UAE is covering the costs associated with the operation of this center and is providing the center rent-free.

On April 5, 2020, the UAE facilitated the repatriation of 345 British tourists visiting the UAE. In response, British Ambassador to the UAE Patrick Moody said, “I also wanted to give a huge thank you to Emirates, to the Emirati authorities who have helped make this happen…”

On April 30, 2020, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, directed 60 metric tons of urgent medical aid and personal protective equipment to be shipped to the UK’s National Health Service to help them combat the pandemic.

On June 5, 2020, the UAE donated 6.6 metric tons of material to the United Kingdom that will enable the country to produce millions of items of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Following the initial COVID-19 outbreak in Wuhan, the UAE provided medical supplies, including facemasks and gloves, to China. On January 26, 2020, HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, tweeted: "We're closely following the Chinese government's efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus. We're confident in their ability to overcome this crisis. The UAE is ready to provide all support to China and cooperate with the international community to tackle this virus.”

On March 4, 2020, as part of the UAE’s Homeland of Humanity Initiative, the UAE evacuated 215 people of different nationalities from China's Hubei Province to the Emirates Humanitarian City in Abu Dhabi, where they received the necessary medical evaluation and care.

On March 3, 2020, the UAE sent four emergency medical aid aircraft to Iran carrying 49.1 tons of medical supplies and 101,000 testing kits that assisted 49,100 medical professionals. One of the planes carried 7.5 metric tons of WHO medical supplies and 5 experts.

In a call on March 15, 2020, with Iran's Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan affirmed the UAE's support to the Iranian people as they manage this crisis.

In the second supply of medical equipment to Iran on March 16, 2020, the UAE sent over 33 metric tons of critical medical supplies, including gloves and surgical masks, as well as other protective equipment. Aid to Iran was delivered with the aim of helping 33,000 healthcare workers.

On June 26, 2020, the UAE sent 16.1 metric tons of medical supplies to Iran to benefit 16,100 medical professionals.

Croatia Seychelles

On March 22, 2020, the UAE donated 13 metric tons of medical supplies to Croatia, benefiting approximately 13,000 medical professionals.

The UAE offered 13 metric tons of medical supplies to the Seychelles Government to assist their fight against COVID-19. The shipment from the UAE that arrived on March 25, 2020 included coveralls, gowns, gloves, masks, and other medical items.

Uzbekistan

The UAE sent two medical aid planes to Uzbekistan carrying 13 metric tons of medical supplies, benefiting 13,000 medical professionals.

The UAE sent an aid plane containing 8 metric tons of medical supplies to Uzbekistan on March 28, 2020, to support the country’s efforts to combat COVID-19, benefiting approximately 8,000 medical professionals.

On May 5, 2020, the second aid plane carrying 5 metric tons of medical aid was sent to Uzbekistan to assist 5,000 medical professionals.

Serbia

On March 29, 2020, the UAE sent two aid planes carrying 13 metric tons of medical supplies to Belgrade. The first part of the donation included 13,750 protective suits, 15,000 hospital suits, 500,000 gloves, 30,000 shoe protectors, 20,000 masks, and 6,000 sanitizers. The shipment was received by His Excellency Aleksandar Vulin, Serbian Minister of Defense, His Excellency Zlatibor Loncar, Minister of Health, and His Excellency Mubarak Saeed Al Dhaheri, UAE Minister of Health.

Greece

The UAE offered 13 metric tons of medical supplies to Greece on March 26, 2020, consisting mostly of special coveralls for medical protection, medical gloves, and sanitizers. In a statement, Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis remarked: “The friendship and trust we share with the United Arab Emirates are dear, and especially during these difficult times the solidarity of our allies is evident—also shown through the delivery of valuable medical supplies today.”

Malaysia

The UAE sent medical equipment and supplies to Kuala Lumpur on March 29, 2020. Malaysian Foreign Minister Hishammuddin Hussein and UAE Ambassador to Malaysia Khalid Al Ghaith came together to share best practices in addressing the pandemic.

The UAE dispatched two medical aid shipments to Afghanistan carrying 7.2 metric tons of medical supplies to assist approximately 72,000 medical professionals. The first aid plane carried 20,000 testing kits and was dispatched on March 3, 2020.

On May 22, 2020, the UAE sent a second aid plane carrying 7 metric tons of medical supplies to Afghanistan to assist approximately 7,000 medical professionals.

The UAE provided three medical aid planes to Pakistan carrying 18.3 metric tons of medical supplies, benefiting 18,300 medical professionals.

The first aircraft included 20,000 testing kits and was dispatched on April 2, 2020. UAE Ambassador to Pakistan Hamad Alzaabi tweeted: “Our commitment for humanitarian approaches and principles to help people in delicate situation has no limits.”

On April 5, 2020, the second batch of 11 metric tons of medical supplies provided by the UAE arrived in Islamabad.

On April 28, 2020, the UAE sent an additional 14 metric tons of medical and food supplies to Pakistan, benefiting 7,300 medical professionals.

Kazakhstan

The UAE sent four medical aid planes to Kazakhstan carrying 58.1 metric tons of medical supplies and 25 ventilators, benefiting 58,100 medical professionals.

The first aircraft dispatched on April 6, 2020, included 13 metric tons, benefiting 13,000 medical professionals.

On July 13, 2020, the UAE sent a second aid plane carrying 8 metric tons of various medical and preventive supplies to Kazakhstan, benefiting approximately 8,000 medical professionals.

On August 29, 2020, the UAE sent a third aid plane carrying 16.5 metric tons of medical supplies and testing kits to assist 16,500 medical professionals in Kazakhstan.

On October 20, 2020, the UAE sent a fourth aid plane carrying 21 metric tons of medical supplies and testing kits to Kazakhstan to assist approximately 21,000 medical professionals.

Ukraine

The UAE sent 15.2 metric tons of medical aid and 200 testing kits to Ukraine on April 10, 2020, to support over 15,200 healthcare professionals. The flight also repatriated 113 Ukrainian citizens from the UAE. In November 2020, 2.16 metric tons of medical aid and 200,000 testing kits and masks were dispatched to Ukraine.

Italy

A UAE plane carrying approximately 13 metric tons of medical supplies was dispatched to Italy on April 5, 2020, to assist the country in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, benefiting over 13,000 healthcare professionals.

Colombia

The UAE sent five aid planes to Colombia carrying 53.5 metric tons of medical supplies and 800,000 testing kits, benefiting 53,500 medical professionals. The flight also repatriated 63 Colombian citizens from the UAE.

The first aid plane sent on April 8, 2020, to Colombia carried 13 metric tons of medical aid to assist over 13,000 medical professionals.

The second aid plane sent on June 15, 2020, to Colombia carried 8 metric tons of medical aid and 200,000 testing kits to assist over 8,000 medical professionals.

The third aid plane sent on July 27, 2020, carried 5.7 metric tons of medical aid to assist over 5,700 medical professionals.

The fourth aid plane sent on August 31, 2020, carried 13.8 metric tons of medical supplies and 500 testing kits to assist 13,800 medical professionals.

The fifth aid plane sent on September 18, 2020, carried 13 metric tons of medical supplies and 100 testing kits to assist 13,000 medical professionals.

Bulgaria Ethiopia

On April 12, 2020, Bulgarian Minister of Economy HE Emil Karanikolov met with UAE Minister of State HE Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh in Abu Dhabi to discuss further cooperation between both countries. An exchange of goods between both countries also took place to strengthen joint efforts against the virus.

The UAE has flown five aid planes to Ethiopia, including two medical aid aircraft carrying 18.5 metric tons of medical supplies and benefiting 18,500 medical professionals. Three other aid planes transported the WFP field hospital.

On April 13, 2020, a UAE aid plane carrying approximately 33 metric tons of medical supplies (15 metric tons of aid provided by the UAE and 15 metric tons provided by WFP to support Ethiopia and other African countries) was dispatched to Ethiopia to assist approximately 15,000 healthcare professionals.

On May 6, 2020, the UAE sent a second shipment of aid to Ethiopia carrying 3.5 metric tons of urgent medical supplies to assist 3,500 medical professionals.

Following the request of the Director of the World Food Programme to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the UAE helped move the WFP Field Hospital from Oslo, Norway, to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, through three flights.

Cyprus

On April 13, 2020, the UAE sent an aid plane carrying 6 metric tons of medical supplies to Cyprus, benefiting nearly 6,000 healthcare professionals in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mauritania

The UAE sent three aid planes carrying 33.2 metric tons of medical supplies, 352,000 testing kits, and 70 ventilators to Mauritania, benefiting 33,200 medical professionals.

The first aircraft sent in April 2020 included 8 metric tons of medical supplies, 250,000 testing kits, and 20 ventilators and benefitted 8,000 medical professionals.

The second aid plane sent on June 6, 2020, carried 14 metric tons, benefiting 14,000 medical professionals.

The third aircraft sent on December 21, 2020, carried 11.2 metric tons of medical supplies, 102,000 testing kits, and 50 ventilators, benefiting 11,200 medical professionals.

AfricanUnion

On April 13, 2020, the UAE transported 3 metric tons of aid to the African Union to assist 3,000 medical professionals as they work to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Somalia

The UAE sent three aid planes to Somalia carrying 19.5 metric tons of medical supplies and 25,000 testing kits, benefiting 19,500 medical professionals.

The first aircraft, sent to Somalia on April 8, 2020, contained 5.6 metric tons of medical supplies benefiting 5,600 medical professionals.

The second aircraft sent on April 14, 2020, carried 7 metric tons of medical assistance and 20 metric tons of WHO medical supplies.

The third aircraft carrying 6.9 tons of medical supplies and 25,000 testing kits was dispatched on June 24, 2020.

Sudan

The UAE sent an aid plane containing 7 metric tons of medical supplies to South Africa on April 20, 2020 benefiting approximately 7,000 medical professionals.

The UAE sent seven aid planes to Sudan carrying 100 metric tons of medical supplies, including 10,000 testing kits and 500 ventilators, benefiting 100,000 medical professionals. In addition, the UAE established a field hospital to treat COVID-19 patients in Sudan.

The first aircraft sent on April 22, 2020, carried 7 metric tons of medical supplies and 10,000 testing kits, benefiting 7,000 medical professionals.

The second aid plane sent on May 29, 2020, carried 11 metric tons of medical supplies, benefiting 11,000 medical professionals.

The third and fourth aid planes sent on June 9, 2020, carried 38 metric tons of medical supplies from the Al Maktoum Charitable Foundation, benefiting 38,000 medical professionals.

The fifth aid plane sent on August 15, 2020, carried 14 metric tons of medical supplies, benefiting 14,000 medical professionals.

The sixth aid plane sent in September 2020 contained 16 metric tons of medical supplies, benefiting 16,000 medical professionals.

The seventh aid plane sent on December 2, 2020, contained 14 metric tons of medical supplies and 500 ventilators, benefiting 14,000 medical professionals.

The UAE established a 100-bed field hospital to treat COVID-19 patients in Darfur, Sudan, containing medical equipment and medicines.

Armenia

On April 27, 2020, the UAE sent 7 metric tons of medical supplies to Armenia, benefiting approximately 7,000 medical professionals.

Nepal

On April 29, 2020, the UAE sent 7.3 metric tons of medical supplies to Nepal, benefiting approximately 7,300 medical professionals.

Kyrgyzstan

On April 23, 2020, the UAE sent an aid plane containing 7 metric tons of medical supplies to Kyrgyzstan, benefiting approximately 7,000 medical professionals.

Indonesia

On April 27, 2020, the UAE sent 20 metric tons of medical supplies to Indonesia, benefiting approximately 20,000 medical professionals.

Kenya Guinea-Conakry

On May 4, 2020, the UAE sent 3.5 metric tons of medical supplies to Kenya, benefiting approximately 3,500 medical professionals.

The UAE established a 100-bed field hospital supplied with all medical equipment and medicines for the treatment of COVID-19 patients in Guinea-Conakry.

On May 4, 2020, the UAE sent 7 metric tons of medical supplies to Guinea-Conakry, benefiting approximately 7,000 medical professionals.

The UAE sent three aid planes carrying 36. 6 metric tons of medical supplies, including 10,000 testing kits, and 10 ventilators, benefiting 36,600 medical personnel.

The first aircraft sent on May 19, 2020, carried 16.2 metric tons of medical supplies, 10,000 testing kits, and 10 ventilators delivered to UNDP, benefiting 16,200 medical professionals.

The second plane sent on June 9, 2020, carried 6 metric tons of medical supplies and was delivered to UNDP, benefiting 6,000 medical professionals.

The third plane sent on December 15, 2020, carrying 14.4 metric tons of medical supplies, was handed over to the Takaful Committee in the Gaza Strip, benefiting 14,400 medical professionals.

This assistance is part of the UAE's commitment to the continued support of the Palestinian people. From 2013 to April 2020, the UAE, one of UNRWA's largest donors, contributed more than USD 828.2 million to finance various sectors in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

Romania

On May 14, 2020, the UAE sent 7 metric tons of medical supplies to Romania to assist approximately 7,000 medical professionals

Albania

The UAE sent an aid plane carrying 15.7 metric tons of medical supplies and 800,000 testing kits, benefiting 15,700 medical professionals.

On May 15, 2020, the UAE sent 7 metric tons of medical supplies to Albania to assist approximately 7,000 medical professionals.An aid shipment carrying 800,000 testing kits and masks was sent to Albania in November 2020.

Cuba

On June 4, 2020, the UAE sent 7.5 metric tons of medical supplies to Cuba to assist approximately 7,500 medical professionals.

Maldives

On June 9, 2020, the UAE sent 72 metric tons of medical supplies to the Maldives to assist approximately 72,000 medical professionals.

Madagascar

On June 3, 2020, the UAE sent 9.2 metric tons of medical supplies to Madagascar to assist approximately 9,200 medical professionals.

Russia

ChechnyaThe UAE has sent five medical aid planes to Chechnya carrying 31.3 metric tons of medical supplies and 20,000 testing kits, benefiting 31,300 medical professionals.

The first aid plane sent on June 1, 2020, carried 8.4 metric tons of medical supplies, benefiting 8,400 thousand medical professionals.

The second, third, and fourth aid planes sent on June 10, 2020, carried 16.9 metric tons of medical supplies, benefiting 16,900 medical professionals.

The fifth aircraft sent on January 15, 2021, carried 6 metric tons of medical supplies and 20,000 testing kits, benefiting 6,000 medical personnel.

DagestanAn aid plane carrying 9 metric tons of medical supplies was sent on June 3, 2020, to assist 9,000 healthcare workers.

Tajikistan

The UAE sent two aid planes carrying 22.5 metric tons of medical supplies to benefit 22,500 medical professionals.

The first aid plane sent on May 27, 2020, carried 10.5 metric tons of medical supplies benefiting 10,500 medical professionals.

The second aid plane sent on October 11, 2020, carried 12 metric tons of medical supplies, benefiting 12,000 medical personnel.

Iraq

Four medical aid planes carrying 42.6 metric tons of medical supplies, 30 ventilators, and 100,000 testing kits were sent to Iraq, benefiting 42,600 medical professionals.

The first aid plane sent on May 28, 2020, to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq carried 5.7 metric tons of medical supplies, benefitting 5,700 medical professionals.

The second aid plane sent on June 25, 2020, to Baghdad carried 10.5 metric tons of medical supplies, benefiting 10,500 medical professionals.

The third aid plane to Sulaymaniyah on June 26, 2020, carried 6.4 metric tons of medical supplies, benefitting 6,400 medical professionals.

The fourth aid plane sent to Baghdad on September 10, 2020, carried 20 metric tons of medical supplies, benefiting 20,000 medical professionals.

Jordan

The UAE sent three medical aid planes carrying 39.1 metric tons of medical supplies and 50,000 testing kits to Jordan, benefiting 39,100 medi-cal personnel. In addition, the UAE established a field hospital (Mohammed bin Zayed Hospital) to treat COVID-19 patients.

The first aid plane sent on June 15, 2020, carried 12.4 metric tons of medical supplies to assist approximately 12,400 medical professionals.

The second aid plane sent on October 8, 2020, carried 15 metric tons of medical supplies to Jordan to assist approximately 15,000 medical professionals.

The third aid plane sent on November 6, 2020, carried 11.7 metric tons of medical supplies to assist approximately 11,700 medical professionals. The UAE established a field hospital in Aqaba (Mohammed bin Zayed Hospital) with 150 beds for the treatment of COVID patients in Jordan with all necessary medical equipment and medicines.

Rwanda

On June 14, 2020, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and H.H. Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum sent over 4 metric tons of medical supplies to Rwanda to assist approximately 4,000 medical professionals. DP World and One&Only Hotel in Rwanda assisted with the logistics of the delivery of these items from Dubai.

Dominican Republic

On June 15, 2020, the UAE sent 6.5 metric tons of medical supplies to the Dominican Republic to assist approximately 6,500 medical professionals.

Chile

On June 12, the UAE sent 8.5 metric tons of medical supplies to Chile to assist approximately 8,500 medical professionals.

Costa Rica

The UAE sent two aid planes carrying 20.5 metric tons of medical supplies and 10,000 testing kits, benefiting 20,500 medical professionals.

The first aid plane was sent on June 11, 2020, and carried 8.5 metric tons of medical aid and 10,000 testing kits to Costa Rica to assist approximately 8,500 medical professionals.

The second aid plane was sent on October 12, 2020, and carried 12 metric tons of medical supplies and testing kits to assist approximately 12,000 medical professionals.

Burkina Faso

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum marked World Refugee Day on June 20, 2020, by ordering an aid flight to support the delivery of urgent humanitarian assistance from UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to Burkina Faso.

The chartered cargo plane carried around 100 metric tons of aid, including 88 metric tons of relief items from UNHCR. The assistance included 12 metric tons of COVID-19 aid made available by the World Health Organization.

The UAE sent an aid plane on July 16, 2020, to Burkina Faso carrying 7.6 metric tons of medical supplies and testing kits to assist 7,600 medical professionals.

Peru

The UAE sent two medical aid planes to Peru carrying 38.1 metric tons of medical supplies to assist approximately 38,100 medical professionals.

The first aid plane carried 32.9 metric tons of medical supplies and was sent to those affected in the Amazon River in Iquitos, Peru, in cooperation with the Vatican in two aid planes (14.5 metric tons on June 25, 2020 and 18.4 metric tons on July 1, 2020).

The second aircraft carried 5.2 metric tons of medical supplies to Lima on July 1, 2020.

Azerbaijan

On June 21, 2020, the UAE sent 10.8 metric tons of medical supplies to Azerbaijan to assist approximately 10,800 medical professionals, as they work to contain the virus.

Thailand

On June 23, 2020, the UAE sent 10.6 metric tons of medical supplies to Thailand to assist approximately 10,600 medical professionals.

Uruguay

On July 5, the UAE sent 7 metric tons of aid to Uruguay to assist approximately 7,000 medical professionals.

Brazil

On July 5, 2020, the UAE sent a plane carrying over 12 metric tons of medical supplies and COVID-19 testing kits to Brazil in furtherance of joint cooperation to bolster the country’s efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Yemen

The UAE sent six medical aid planes carrying 122.1 metric tons of medical supplies, 65 ventilators, and 100,000 testing kits, benefiting 122,100 medical professionals.

The first plane was sent on May 6, 2020, carrying 12 metric tons of medical aid and benefiting 12,000 medical professionals.

The second plane was sent on May 12, 2020, carrying 37 metric tons of medical aid and benefiting 37,000 medical professionals.

The third plane was sent on May 20, 2020, carrying 38 metric tons of medical aid and benefiting 38,000 medical professionals.

Namibia

On July 22, 2020, the UAE sent 8 metric tons of medical supplies and COVID-19 testing kits to Namibia to assist approximately 8,000 medical professionals.

Caribbean

On July 23, 2020, the UAE sent 12.3 metric tons of medical supplies and 500,000 rapid testing kits to assist approximately 12,300 medical professionals, as they work to contain the virus in 14 Caribbean island states, including: Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago, in addition to the UK overseas territory Montserrat, in cooperation with Barbados as a hub for distribution and through the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency.

South Sudan

On July 20, 2020, the UAE sent 7.5 metric tons of medical aid and testing supplies to South Sudan to assist approximately 7,500 medical professionals.

Mexico

On July 14, 2020, the UAE sent an aid plane carrying 10 metric tons of medical supplies and testing kits to Mexico to assist approximately 10,000 medical professionals.

Turkmenistan

On July 31, 2020, the UAE sent an aid shipment carrying 77 metric tons of medical supplies to bolster the country’s efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19. This aid assisted approximately 77,000 medical professionals. A mobile clinic was also sent on July 31, 2020.

Lebanon

On August 6, 2020, the UAE sent 16 metric tons of testing equipment and medical supplies to Lebanon to assist approximately 16,000 medical professionals.
