Regards Liam Dear Parents/Carers, We are moving toward the end of a very busy term, one full of learning opportunities, classroom activities, excursions, sporting and cultural events. I am in the process of reading each childs report for Semester 1. I am very pleased with the progress of the vast majority of students and certainly happy with the effort of all teachers in their teaching. When reports are sent home next week, please take the time to read the comments - amongst the sentences there will be words of praise and also practical ways for your child to improve and set a goal for Semester 2. Reports are for parents to open first - but please take the time to sit with your child/ren and read through the report together. A Cor Satisfactoryon a report is the expected level each student should be achieving. To receive a High, Very High or A & B is difficult to achieve as the student needs to be exceeding the level of the curriculum on which they are working. Students receiving lower than a Cor Satisfactorymay be achieving this level for many and varied reasons. They may be receiving significant support to complete particular sections of the curriculum; or they may not have completed all expected assessment tasks; or they may have the ability but are as yet not working to their potential. Student reports aim to give feedback to parents and the student information about the areas on which they are working well and also where they can improve on their learning journey. Please consider these factors next week when reports are sent home. If you have any questions or concerns about a particular section of the report please make a time to meet with your childs teacher to seek clarification. Congratulations to our students who represented the District in Touch Football - Braithan Kuhn, Jesse Catelan, Rylee Lacaze, Chayse Briggs and Zaviah Di Carlo at the Peninsula Trials over the weekend. Dear Parents/Carers,

We are moving toward the end of a very busy term, one full of learning opportunities, classroom activities, excursions, sporting and cultural events. I am in the process of reading each child’s report for Semester 1.

A “C” or “Satisfactory” on a report is the expected level each student should be achieving. To receive a High, Very High or A & B is difficult to achieve as the student needs to be exceeding the level of the curriculum on which they are working.

Students receiving lower than a “C” or “Satisfactory” may be achieving this level for many and varied reasons.

If you have any questions or concerns about a particular section of the report please make a time to meet with your child’s teacher to seek clarification.

Social & Emotional Learning…

Last week we touched on the five competencies of

Self-awareness, Social awareness, Self-

management, Relationship skills, and Responsible

decision-making (CASEL 2017), which promote

intrapersonal, interpersonal and cognitive

competence as life-long skills—with the focus on

Self-awareness.

This week the focus is on Social awareness

The ability to take the perspective of and empathise

with others, including those from diverse back-

grounds and cultures. The ability to understand

social and ethical norms for behaviour and to recog-

nise family, school and community resources and

supports.

We wish our School Officers a

happy day for their special day

on Wednesday. We thank them

for their professional and positive

approach to supporting students

and teachers as they go about

their work on a daily basis. We

need to ensure that they know they and their efforts

at GCPS are truly appreciated—so please let’s

remember to say thank you tomorrow.

Administration & Social and Emotional Learning.
