Dear Members and Friends of The Metropolitan Museum of Art,

Ancient yet luminous, brash but refined, Rome is a beguiling mistress, rewarding those who take the time to know her. Among her treasures are masterpieces found not only in museums but also in seldom-visited galleries, chapels, and private palazzi. We invite you on a journey behind closed doors, to discover why art and life in the Eternal City have been inexorably intertwined since before the time of Caesar.

Accompanying us is Frank Dabell, who was instrumental in developing this itinerary. A former Metropolitan Museum Fellow, Mr. Dabell is a British art historian and scholar, now living and teaching in Rome.

Program highlights include a special visit to the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums when they are closed to the public, and dinner at the spectacular Palazzo Doria Pamphilj. Additional receptions and meals are planned in glorious private settings, while accommodations are at the Grand Hotel

de la Minerve, overlooking the Pantheon.

Due to the special nature of our visits, space on this program is limited. I hope youwill join us!

Sincerely,

Emily K. Rafferty

President
