THE CONTRACTOR SELECTED FOR THIS PROJECT SHALL BE CERTIFIED BY THE SCS MANUFACTURER, ADHERE TO THE DESIGN ENGINEERING, INSTALLATION AND CERTIFICATION PROCEDURES AND UTILIZE THE AUTHORIZED MANUFACTURER COMPONENTS IN COMPLETING THIS PROJECT. B. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL: 1. HAVE A BICSI CERTIFIED RCDD ON STAFF AND READILY AVAILABLE FOR THIS PROJECT. A COPY OF THE BICSI CERTIFICATE OR STAMP SHALL BE PROVIDED. LEAD INSTALLER SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM OF 5-YEARS OF INSTALLATION WORK EXPERIENCE RUNNING PROJECTS. 2. BE EXPERIENCED IN ALL ASPECTS OF THE WORK REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT AND SHALL BE REQUIRED TO DEMONSTRATE DIRECT EXPERIENCE ON RECENTLY INSTALLED SYSTEMS OF SIMILAR SIZE AND TYPE. 3. CAREFULLY EXAMINE THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS AND MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO VISIT THE SITE, AND THOROUGHLY BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE BUILDING STANDARDS AND LOCAL CONDITIONS RELATING TO THE WORK. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL NOT RELIEVE THE CONTRACTOR OF THE OBLIGATIONS OF THE CONTRACT. 4. OWN AND MAINTAIN EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS REQUIRED FOR THE INSTALLATION AND TESTING OF THE SPECIFIED STRUCTURED CABLING SYSTEMS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ALSO EMPLOY PERSONNEL WHO ARE ADEQUATELY TRAINED IN THE USES OF REQUIRED TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT. C. THESE DOCUMENTS DETAIL THE COMPONENTS AND INSTALLATION GUIDELINES THAT NEED TO BE INCLUDED FOR THE PROJECT. THESE DOCUMENTS CONTAIN WORK THAT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF MULTIPLE CONTRACTORS I.E. COMMUNICATION CONTRACTOR, ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR, GENERAL CONTRACTOR ETC. THE SCS INSTALLATION SHALL FOLLOW ALL RECOGNIZED INDUSTRY BEST PRACTICES AND SHALL BE PERFORMED IN A NEAT AND WORKMAN LIKE MANNER. 3.2. CABLE INSTALLATION: A. TWISTED PAIR CABLE (INCLUDES ALL CATEGORIES): 1. CABLE DISTANCES a CATEGORY RATED CABLES SHALL NOT EXCEED 295FT OF INSTALLED LENGTH IN THE PERMANENT LINK. 2. THE MAXIMUM PULLING TENSION OF 4-PAIR UTP CABLES SHALL BE NO GREATER (25LBF). FOR MULTI-PAIR BACKBONE CABLES, MANUFACTURERS PULLING TENSION GUIDELINES SHALL BE FOLLOWED. 3. CABLES SHALL NOT BE ATTACHED TO CEILING GRID SUPPORTS AND SHALL NOT BE LAID DIRECTLY ON THE CEILING GRID. 4. CABLES SHALL NOT BE ATTACHED TO OR SUPPORTED BY FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEMS COMPONENTS OR ANY ENVIRONMENTAL SENSOR LOCATED IN THE CEILING SPACE. 5. ALL CABLE RUNS BETWEEN THE TERMINATION HARDWARE AND THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS OUTLET SHALL BE CONTINUOUS WITHOUT ANY SPLICES. 6. ALL TELECOMMUNICATIONS CABLING INSTALLED WITHIN OPEN CEILING SPACES SHALL BE ROUTED THROUGH THESE SPACES PERPENDICULAR TO AND A MINIMUM OF 12 INCHES FROM ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS AND DEVICES. THE PROXIMITY OF CABLING TO SOURCES OF RFI AND EMI SHALL BE CONSIDERED WHEN INSTALLING CABLE. 7. THE MINIMUM BEND RADIUS, UNDER NO-LOAD CONDITIONS, FOR 4-PAIR UTP CABLES SHALL BE 1 INCH OR 4 TIMES THE CABLE DIAMETER, WHICHEVER IS GREATER. FOR MULTI-PAIR BACKBONE CABLE THE MINIMUM BEND RADIUS SHALL BE 10 TIMES THE CABLE DIAMETER. DISTANCE REQUIREMENTS: 1. THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE HORIZONTAL PATHWAY DISTANCE SHALL NOT EXCEED 265FT. 2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REVIEW AND VERIFY ALL HORIZONTAL LENGTHS PRIOR TO CABLE INSTALLATION. B. CONDUIT SYSTEMS 1. CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT SHOP DRAWINGS INDICATING EXACT CONDUIT AND PULL BOX LAYOUTS. CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH APPROPRIATE TRADE CONTRACTORS AND EOR. 4. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A PULL STRING FOR EACH TELECOMMUNICATIONS CONDUIT RUN INSTALLED AS PART OF THIS PROJECT. ANY PULL STRING USED FOR INSTALLATION OF CABLE AS PART OF THIS PROJECT SHALL BE REPLACED WITH A NEW PULL STRING. 5. CONTRACTOR SHALL STUB ALL CONDUITS INTO TELECOMMUNICATIONS ROOM(S) AS REQUIRED BY TELECOMMUNICATIONS DRAWING AND SPECIFICATIONS AND PROVIDE AN INSULATED GROUNDING BUSHING FOR EACH CONDUIT END. 6. ALL CONDUIT BENDS SHALL BE WIDE RADIUS TYPE. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE PULL BOXES (PLENUM RATED WHERE REQUIRED) FOR ALL RUNS WHERE MORE THAN 180 DEGREES OF CONDUIT BENDS OCCUR OR WHERE A CONDUIT RUN EXCEEDS 100 LINEAR FEET, SIZE AND LOCATE PULL BOXES AS REQUIRED DUE TO EXISTING FIELD CONDITIONS, AND TO COMPLY WITH CODES AND REGULATIONS. THE SYSTEM SHALL BE RATED TO MATCH THE RATING OF THE FLOOR OR WALL BEING PENETRATED. D. TELECOMMUNICATION BOXES 1. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A COPPER GROUNDING BAR WITHIN ALL TELECOMMUNICATIONS ROOMS AND EQUIPMENT ROOMS AND GROUND ALL RACEWAY, RACKS AND, CABINETS IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDATIONS AND ANSI/TIA-607 STANDARD, NFPA 70 AND ALL APPLICABLE BUILDING CODES. VOICE AND DATA HORIZONTAL WIRING PAIRS SHALL BE CERTIFIED FROM EQUIPMENT OUTLET TO EQUIPMENT OUTLET. THE CATEGORY CABLE RUNS SHALL BE TESTED FOR CONFORMANCE TO THE SPECIFICATIONS AS DEFINED IN ANSI/TIA-568. FIELD TEST INSTRUMENTS USED TO VERIFY CATEGORY 5E OR CATEGORY 6 CABLE PERFORMANCE SHOULD BE COMPLIANT TO THE LEVEL III, LEVEL IIIE OR LEVEL IV REQUIREMENTS AS DEFINED IN ANSI/TIA-1152. ANY CABLES OR PAIRS NOT MEETING THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE STANDARD SHALL BE BROUGHT INTO COMPLIANCE BY THE CONTRACTOR, OR REPLACED AT NO COST TO THE CLIENT. 3. ALL TWISTED PAIR CABLING SHALL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING PERMANENT LINK TESTS: WIRE MAP (INCLUDING THE SHIELD CONNECTION IF PRESENT), DC LOOP RESISTANCE, LENGTH, INSERTION LOSS, NEXT LOSS (PAIR-TO-PAIR, MEASURED FROM BOTH THE LOCAL END AND THE FAR END), PROPAGATION DELAY AND DELAY SKEW. 4. IN ADDITION TO THE PARAMETERS LISTED ABOVE, ALL CATEGORY 5E AND CATEGORY 6 TWISTED-PAIR CABLING SHALL ALSO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING PERMANENT LINK TESTS: RETURN LOSS, PSNEXT LOSS (MEASURED FROM BOTH THE LOCAL END AND THE FAR END), ACRF (MEASURED FROM BOTH THE LOCAL END AND THE FAR END) AND PSACRF (MEASURED FROM BOTH THE LOCAL END AND THE FAR END). 5. NO CERTIFICATION TESTS SHALL BE PERFORMED WITH TEST EQUIPMENT THAT HAS NOT BEEN CALIBRATED WITHIN 6 MONTHS PRIOR TO FIELD CERTIFICATION. 7. COMPLETE END TO END CERTIFICATION RESULTS SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE CLIENT AND EOR IN ELECTRONIC FORMAT. NO HAND WRITTEN TEST RESULTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. MANUFACTURER, ADHERE TO THE DESIGN

ENGINEERING, INSTALLATION AND

CERTIFICATION PROCEDURES AND UTILIZE THE

AUTHORIZED MANUFACTURER COMPONENTS IN

COMPLETING THIS PROJECT.

B. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL:

1. HAVE A BICSI CERTIFIED RCDD ON STAFF AND

READILY AVAILABLE FOR THIS PROJECT. A

COPY OF THE BICSI CERTIFICATE OR STAMP

SHALL BE PROVIDED. LEAD INSTALLER

SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM OF 5-YEARS OF

INSTALLATION WORK EXPERIENCE RUNNING

PROJECTS.

2. BE EXPERIENCED IN ALL ASPECTS OF THE

WORK REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THIS

PROJECT AND SHALL BE REQUIRED TO

DEMONSTRATE DIRECT EXPERIENCE ON

RECENTLY INSTALLED SYSTEMS OF SIMILAR

SIZE AND TYPE.

3. CAREFULLY EXAMINE THE CONTRACT

DOCUMENTS AND MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO

VISIT THE SITE, AND THOROUGHLY BECOME

FAMILIAR WITH THE BUILDING STANDARDS

AND LOCAL CONDITIONS RELATING TO THE

WORK. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL NOT RELIEVE

THE CONTRACTOR OF THE OBLIGATIONS OF

THE CONTRACT.

4. OWN AND MAINTAIN EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS

REQUIRED FOR THE INSTALLATION AND

TESTING OF THE SPECIFIED STRUCTURED

CABLING SYSTEMS. THE CONTRACTOR

SHALL ALSO EMPLOY PERSONNEL WHO ARE

ADEQUATELY TRAINED IN THE USES OF

REQUIRED TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT.

C. THESE DOCUMENTS DETAIL THE COMPONENTS

AND INSTALLATION GUIDELINES THAT NEED TO

BE INCLUDED FOR THE PROJECT. THESE

DOCUMENTS CONTAIN WORK THAT IS THE

TELECOMMUNICATIONS OUTLETS, ETC. SCS

SHALL BE INSTALLED AND CONFIGURED TO

PROVIDE VOICE AND DATA CONNECTIVITY FROM

EACH TELECOMMUNICATIONS OUTLET TO THE

VOICE NETWORK/SWITCH OR DATA

NETWORK/SWITCH DESIGNATED AS THE SERVICE

POINT OF THE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK.

B. UNIT PRICING: CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE

ADD/DEDUCT UNIT PRICES AS FOLLOWS:

1. TYPICAL COMMUNICATIONS OUTLET, EACH

CONFIGURATION, COMPLETE INCLUDING

CABLE, JACK(S), FACEPLATE, APPORTIONED

COORDINATE WITH APPROPRIATE TRADE

CONTRACTORS AND EOR.

4. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A PULL STRING

FOR EACH TELECOMMUNICATIONS CONDUIT

RUN INSTALLED AS PART OF THIS PROJECT.

ANY PULL STRING USED FOR INSTALLATION

OF CABLE AS PART OF THIS PROJECT SHALL

BE REPLACED WITH A NEW PULL STRING.

5. CONTRACTOR SHALL STUB ALL CONDUITS INTO

TELECOMMUNICATIONS ROOM(S) AS

REQUIRED BY TELECOMMUNICATIONS

DRAWING AND SPECIFICATIONS AND

PROVIDE AN INSULATED GROUNDING

BUSHING FOR EACH CONDUIT END.

6. ALL CONDUIT BENDS SHALL BE WIDE RADIUS

TYPE. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE PULL

BOXES (PLENUM RATED WHERE REQUIRED)

FOR ALL RUNS WHERE MORE THAN 180
