WHO’S WHO…

DONJA R. LOVE (Playwright) is an Afro-Queer playwright, poet, and filmmaker from Philadelphia. He's the recipient of the 2018 Laurents/Hatcher Foundation Award, the 2017 Princess Grace Playwriting Fellowship, The Lark's 2016 Van Lier New Voices Playwriting Fellowship, The Playwrights Realm’s 2016-2017 Writing Fellowship, and the 2016 Arch and Bruce Brown Playwriting Award. He is a Eugene O’Neill 2018/2017 National Playwrights Conference finalist and the 2011 Philadelphia Adult Grand Slam Poetry Champion. His work has been developed at Manhattan Theatre Club, Rising Circle Theater Collective, The Lark, and The Playwrights Realm. He’s the co-founder of The Each-Other Project, an organization that helps build community and provide visibility, through art and advocacy, for LGBTQ People of Color. Select stage-plays include: The Love* Plays (Sugar in our Wounds, Fireflies, and In the Middle), a trilogy which explores Queer Love during pivotal moments in Black History; and Soft. Select film work includes: "Modern Day Black Gay" (web series), and "Once A Star" (short film). Training: Juilliard, Lila Acheson Wallace American Playwrights Program.

CHRIS FOSTER (Director) was last seen on stage at CCT in Ben Butler. His acting credits include Old Love, New Love, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Normal Heart, Time Stands Still, Clever Little Lies, The Night Alive, Tigers Be Still, Opus, Bill W & Doctor Bob, Death of a Salesman, In the Heat of the Night, and Sunday in the Park with George. His directing credits include: The Babylon Line, The School for Lies, Clybourne Park, The Real Thing, Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me, Out of Order, Charley’s Aunt, Good People, Big Maggie, and The Cripple of Inishmaan.

MICHAEL LAKE (Charles) is an artist and theater maker that has appeared in many stage and film productions throughout the Capital district of NY, recently in Will Kempe's Players Summer 2021 season, and with the Creative Action Unlimited film production "The Climb." Michael has appeared on the CCT stage in The Whipping Man, Figaro, The Normal Heart, and Ben Butler. He is also a co-founding member of Will Kempe's Players Theater Cooperative, and thanks his family for their support.

Who’s Who…

ANGELIQUE POWELL (Olivia) is thrilled to be returning to the CCT stage! Angelique is a Capital Region native and performer who is extremely passionate about arts inclusivity, representation, and community. She is eager to continue her work giving a face and a dialogue to those who have otherwise not been heard. This performance is dedicated to WS. The difference between thinking and knowing is you.

ALEX DEITZ-KEST (Sound Designer) is currently a theatre consultant for Charcoalblue LLC. Not so recent NYC credits include Afterglow (Davenport Theatre), Trial of an American President (Theatre Row), Hedda Gabler (HERE Arts Center), Troll King Rises (Columbia University). Ben Butler, Switzerland, An Act of God, Old Love New Love, Every Brilliant Thing, and many others with CCT including the 2021-2022 season. He has a Theatrical Production Arts B.F.A. from Ithaca College.

LILY FOSSNER (Lighting Design) has lit many productions for CCT over more than twelve seasons, including The Legend of Georgia McBride, The Normal Heart, and The Diary Of Anne Frank. Originally from Niskayuna, and now based in Philadelphia, she lights plays, operas, dance, and commercial events. Her work has been seen at many theatres in Philadelphia, and at The Public Theatre/Culture Project, Juilliard Opera Theatre, Chautauqua Theater Company, Berkshire Theatre Group, WAM Theatre, The Glimmerglass Festival, and NYU Grad Acting. MFA, NYU Tisch School of the Arts.

FRANK OLIVA (Scenic Design) is a Cuban-American Stage Designer. Recent work includes world premieres and new productions at the Cincinnati Symphony, Two River Theatre Company, Urban Stages and the Kitchen Theatre, among others. Frank has associate designed projects for Broadway, Off-Broadway and International productions, including West Side Story, Hangmen, Oklahoma! and Noura. Forthcoming works include projects at Weston Theatre Company, Manhattan School of Music, Area Stage Company and Theatreworks Colorado. Frank is a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School, member of United Scenic Artists Local 829 and Executive Committee Member of Wingspace Theatrical Design. frankjoliva.com

Who’s Who…

JOHN J. QUINAN (Stage Manager) has previously stage managed Betrayal, Greater Tuna, The Dining Room, Sherlock Solo, Perfect Wedding, Driving Miss Daisy, Chemical Imbalance, California Suite, Bill W. and Dr. Bob, Lend Me A Tenor, Our Son’s Wedding, One Slight Hitch, The Price, Family Furniture, Hollywood Confidential, Charley’s Aunt, Fit to Kill, The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey, and Switzerland at CCT and appeared here in Ten Little Indians, Witness for the Prosecution, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and Wrong Window. He has appeared onstage locally with NYSTI, The Empire Center at the Egg, ACT, SCP, SLOC, Theatre Voices, SCCC, Confetti Stage and CTG, among others. Favorite productions he has appeared in include Quartermaine’s Terms, How The Other Half Loves, Machinal, Betty’s Summer Vacation, The Andersonville Trial, Hay Fever, Last of the Red Hot Lovers, and 1776. During the day, John works as a Principal Personnel Examiner for the New York State Civil Service Department.

BETH RUMAN (Costume Design) her love of theater started when, as a young girl, she accompanied her father who was a make-up artist, set designer and !Lighting Guy” to local theaters. Beth has costumed shows in the Capital District for 30 plus years. She started costuming for the Galway Players in the late ‘80’s and has enjoyed costuming for ACT, CTG, CLT, SLOC, CL, SCP and CCT. She has served on the boards of ACT and SCP.

AIMEE HARVEY THORESON (Prop Design) is excited to be getting back to theatre after several years away, and especially glad to be working on Fireflies. She has previously worked backstage, costumes, and props on musicals including Honk!, The Sound of Music, Oklahoma!, and Bye Bye Birdie. Her other hobbies include fiber arts such as sewing, knitting, and spinning.
