Map

Unfortunately, I was one of the people who’s twtpoll did not show the map. I feel that this was very big disadvantage for me because the map could have really helped with the analysis. With the map, I could have explained why the majority of people had picked one answer, or why they hadn't, based on the areas/countries the results came from. The specific regions and what is taught to them could have really explained why I got the results I did.

Analyze resultsAnswer these q’s:

What does the data tell us?

What surprised you about the results?

What didn’t surprise you?

What inferences can you make based on your data results?

(See task sheet from Moodle!)

The data shows that the majority of the people, 78 % (7 people) to be specific voted Switzerland, the correct answer. I think this is because many people know that Switzerland is a neutral country, in fact the one of the neutral countries of the 4 choices, and there was no information about Switzerland being/participating in the war apposed to the main countries that most people know were involved like Germany, France, Britain. Therefore making Switzerland a very obvious choice. 11 % (only 1 person) voted for France as the answer, and 11 % (1 person) voted Sweden as the answer. I completely understand why that person would have voted Sweden, because in fact, Sweden had no participated in world war one. Sweden had sold weapons and raw materials to Germany but that’s about it. Although, I really don’t understand why someone would vote France when it was such a big part of World War One. When Germany declared war on Russia in 1914, it was Frances duty under terms of a treaty with Russia to assist Russia and enter the war. Perhaps this person is living or studying in a place that when teaching world War one, doesn’t really focus on Farnce and its involvement, perhaps more on the other countries, or on the war in general.

Page 19: Twtpoll Assesment Farah Addam 9D. The League of Nations

Another thing that surprised me was that 0%, (absolutely no one) voted Spain. Spain did not participate in world war one, it was actually considered one of the most important neutral countries in Europe by 1915 so that would have made it a pretty good option, yet no one voted Spain.

I was very pleased to see that 7 out of the 9 who voted, voted correctly, this tells me that my Questions was clear and had enough information to help most get the answer correctly. I am also really glad that people actually know about the League of Nations. Although I was really disappointed at the number of people that actually voted. What actually happened was that the first twtpoll I made didn’t allow me to see the actual results, so I had to make another poll and get as many people to vote as possible in a week. I think the reason so litlle people voted isbecause by that time, everyone had answered so many polls and were sick of them, and sadly even after I asked, wouldn’t do it, so in the end, only 9 voted. I really wish that twtpoll actually let me view who voted, as in the names of the people that voted, this would have definitely helped me get more people to vote, because then I would know which people to ask to vote.

Overall, I am proud of all my poll questions, I think they are all detailed, and even though I had to shorten my poll question so that it would fit, it still had enough information and was clear.

I feel that overall, my poll was successful.
