Principal
It’s hard to believe that there are only four weeks left of term 3. The next few weeks are proving to
be very busy, with lots of things happening including Sports Day on the last day of term.
Book Week came and went and was a great success. Students of all ages enjoyed the many
activities including the Book Week dress up parade. A big thank you to Mrs White and her helpers
for making Book Week so fantastic.
Recently all teachers had the opportunity to work with our Regional Primary Australian Curriculum
Facilitator. The focus for most teachers was the new Geography Australian Curriculum; becoming
familiar with the curriculum before implementing it in 2014.
On Monday 2nd September Garry Costello, the DECD Chief Education Officer is visiting Two Wells
Primary School with Kathryn Bruggemann, the Regional Director and Leonie Pech, DECD Senior
Policy Advisor. The purpose of the visit is an opportunity to learn about our site and the local
community. As part of the visit some students will be asked what they find interesting about their
school and what they think is important learning for their future. Teachers will also be discussing
what they consider to be some positive attributes of the school as well as identifying any challenges
etc. This visit is a great opportunity for us to share what we do as well as discuss the issues we
face. It is also an opportunity to provide feedback to Regional and Central Office colleagues about
support services to our site.
On Tuesday 10th September we will continue to explore the new Australian Curriculum during a
Pupil Free Day. Teachers will further develop their knowledge and skills with moderation, assess-
ment and reporting against the new curriculum achievement standards. We also plan to adjust our
current reporting formats so they are in line with Australian Curriculum reporting guidelines. Monday
the 9th September is a School Closure Day.
Last week we celebrated National Recognition Week for School Service Officers. SSO week is an
opportunity to celebrate the contributions of non-teaching staff in public schools across Australia. At
Two Wells Primary School we have a number of SSO’s and other support staff including our
groundsman, ACEO (Aboriginal Community Education Officer) and CPSW (Christian Pastoral Support
Worker) who regularly work with students who have learning disabilities, learning difficulties, social
and emotional needs, Aspergers, Dyslexia, Speech and Language disorders etc. We have a very
knowledgeable team with diverse skills and many talents. On behalf of the students and staff at Two
Wells Primary School I would like to thank the following SSO’s for their hard work and dedication:
Liz McLaughlin, Jessica Koot, Michele Renaglia, Allison Landherr, Michelle Barnett, Yvonne Davidt,
Donna Nairn, Leonie Hewson, John Spoolder and Tania Cattell.
A big thank you to all the families who collected Woolworths Earn and Learn stickers this year. We
collected a grand total of 22,380 points. We will keep you posted about the resources we buy to
support student learning.

RECEPTION TRANSITION - REPEAT

school in Term 4. All children transitioning to Reception
from the Two Wells Children’s Centre will be going into
Room 12 with Mrs Mel Warren. Please remember to
bring back your child’s enrolment form before or on
Tuesday. Times and dates are as follows;

September 8:50 – 10:30 am
Tuesday 17thSeptember 8:50 – 12:30 pm

If you are aware of any families who are enrolling
children at our school, could you please encourage them
to contact us as soon as possible if they have not already
filled in an enrolment form.
BUS MONITORS
Behaviour on the buses is monitored by drivers and
student monitors. The monitors do a fabulous job of
liaising with myself and the driver when behaviour is
inappropriate. Decisions about consequences are made
by myself and the Principal, not by monitors. Responses
to behaviour are ranked according to the impact they
could have on the safety and wellbeing of bus users.
Recorded and monitored (eg. low level, infrequent
behaviour)
Warning (eg. low level repeated behaviour)
Missed play recorded as a Time Out and a white
form sent home (behaviour repeated after warning,
safety issue, impact on other bus users )
Missed play session and a green Bus Behaviour
Notification sent home (serious or repeated
behaviour that could result in future suspension)
Suspension from the bus service
If your child receives a Time Out or Bus Behaviour Note
could you please speak to them about their behaviour so
that it does not escalate to the next level.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Breaking up is hard to do
Relationship breakups are traumatic for everyone
involved, never more so than for children and young
people caught up in the conflict of parents who separate.
Kids Helpline provides counselling sessions when a child
or young person wants/needs to discuss a family
separation, custody issue or blended family
arrangement.
The counsellor at the other end of the line is someone
neutral that can offer support in an emotion free
atmosphere. They are not caught up in the stress of the
event and can offer a calm and rational perspective .

A HAPPY EVENT will be celebrating FATHERS’ DAY on
Sunday.
HAVE A WONDERFUL FAMILY DAY EVERYONE
I have information about the Little Athletics Centres in nearby
districts.
The number of enthusiastic students involved in trying out for
the District Day team might be an incentive to join a club—
training/competition days are normally held on the weekend .
( Forget those Lie ins Mums and Dads ).
Please let me know if you would like some information.
BOOK WEEK - What an amazing week, beginning
on Tuesday with the wondrous readings of Naomi
Arnold to our Junior Primary children, followed by
Carol Shannon, the author of Dusky Langurs,
relating her story and zoo experiences to the Middle
& Upper Primary students.
Wednesday the whole school set off in costume following the Pied Piper down the main
street - and didn’t staff and students all look magnificent? There was Tinkerbell scattering
fairy dust, super heroes to protect us, princesses to delight, the Queen of Hearts was quite
majestic, fit and agile sporting champions, Darth Vader and Yoda wielding their
lightsabers, the Cat in the Hat and Cruella couldn’t even find Wally?
Just to mention a few. SENSATIONAL
Now, if that wasn’t enough to keep the school pumping, the little ones ‘raced’ around the
school grounds on Thursday on their Treasure Hunt to find the missing letters ……….
What did they spell? FANTASTIC
The Book Fair on Thursday and Friday was phe-
nomenal - parents, friends, staff and students
found bargains, books and bonus items. Sales hit
the magic mark for us to receive 35% commission,
which allowed us to purchase all the items we wanted - heaps of new books for the
library.
MARVELLOUS
Assembly on Friday had everyone singing the Book Week song of
“oh I left my book at home” - stars one and all. SUPER
Saturday evening saw the finale to Book Week, with 14 families {42 peo-
ple, 24 young ones} attend the Reading Hour. Some came along in their
pyjamas to hear an array of interesting books being read, along with a
variety of stories. Yummy milo and biscuits were enjoyed by all. AWESOME
THANK YOU to everyone who participated and contributed - a real team effort.

School Banking Day Reminder Don’t forget that Friday is School Banking day and students should bring in their weekly deposit. For every deposit made at school, no matter how big or small, students will receive a cool Dollarmites token. The first token will be received upon the first deposit at school. Once students have individually collected 10 tokens they can then be redeemed for a range of great, exclusive reward items in recognition of their continued savings behaviour. Thank you for supporting the School Banking
program at Two Wells Primary School.
