'Director's Note

The first time I had a conversation about doing this production was over cheese fries and milk shakes with the Matts last November. We've come a long way since then, and a 10 t has changed, but I hop e that everyone involved agrees with me when I say that despite challenges, the whole experience has been rewarding and satisfying.

If you're reading this , chances are you already know the background. "tick tick BOOM!" just wasn't meant to be, which is a shame, and not for selfish reasons; I really am saddened that Col umbia won't get to experience the show in its entirety. However, I'm so proud to have been a part of this production, despite everything we've had to overcome. This cast is beyond amazing. They made the most 0 f this opportunity and threw th emselves into making "Two Weeks" a su ccessful reality. I a Iso need to thank the creative team for this project, who are truly some of the most dedicated and talented people I know, as well as some of my favorite people at Columbia.

This may not be the ending we all expected, but I'm proud of us for getting so far. "Two Weeks" is a testament to your hard work and passion. I hope that you all enjoy this show, and I thank you for coming and showing your support.

Sincerely,

'I'fie Story

This cast and creative team was ori ginaUy put together as Colum bia Musical Theater Society's production of the musical tick, tick. ..BOOM!

tick, tick ... BOOM! is an autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson, the creator of t he popular musical Rent. The show premiered off-Broadway in 2001 and re -opened this summ er for an immensely successful run in Los Angeles. Our intent was t 0 bring the show t 0 the Columbia audience this fall, but the show' s untapped popularity makes it the ideal target for another professional venture.

We were informed two weeks before our production was scheduled to open that a pro fessional interest had gotten underway and that we would not be abl e to obtain the rig hts for our production. We hope that the professional show is headed back to New York so that our audien ce will eventually have a chance to see tick, tick ... BOOM!

Two Weeks is what essentially what it sounds like. It is a presentation of songs chosen and put together in the two weeks a fier tick, tick ... BOOM was no longer a possibil ity. The ti tIe is per haps a bit misleading, though. The performance is, in reality, a culmination of the eight weeks we've spen t working together. We hope you enjoy.

COLLEEN MYERS, CC '07 (Director): Colleen is thrilled to have spent the last two months (and, u h, two weeks ... ) working with this amazing t earn! MATTHEW CARLBERG, SEAS '07 (Production Ma nager): Matt took a mo nth to decide on his title for this show but eventually settled on "Supreme Engineer in Charge of All Things Hard to Understand." ERIN BYRNE, BC '09 (Co-Producer): This is Erin's fifth production at Columbia. She does not, in fact, live on the fifth floor of Lerner. Dream Team for life. You have been my cuddle buddy and my rock. Thanks to the rest of the cast/creative team for all the Thursdays and over-sharing.

DARCY ELGIN, CC '07 (Co-Producer): This is Darcy's eighth show a t Columbia. This summer she worked for ShakespearelLA and came to the conclusion that she actually prefers musicals. After this experience though, she's pretty sure she wouldn't mind working with the bard again. He doesn't require rights. Thanks to Erin for cuddling with her and keeping the Dream Team alive, and the cast/creative team for Thursdays and being beyond amazmg.

JENNI MARKS, BC '07 (Production Stage Manager): Jenni is a Bar nard College senior majoring in Medie val and Renaissance studies and h as been active in Columbia theater since her sophomore year. Previous stage management credits include: The Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui (BCMT), A Funny Thing ...Forum and Cabaret (CMTS); Sleepover (TADA Youth Theater); Noises Off and Dracula (Palo Alto Childre n's Theatre). Additionally, Jenni is copresident of CU P layers, a student group dedicated to the production of straight plays.

LAUREN ENI, BC '08 (Choreographer): Lauren submi tted her bio as an attachment, but it turns out the attachment was blank, so the world may never know how this bio was supposed to read. The creative t earn, however, would like to comment that Lauren is generally awesome and eats exactly the right amount of pinapple.

KELSEY INGRAM, Be '09 (Assistant Stage Manager): This is Kelsey's first show at Columbia. In yesteryear, Kelsey was the director of a children' s th eatre program back home in Canada. Her directing credits include, Fiddler on t he Roof, Working, West Side Story and The Lit tie Mermaid. Before she was a dir ector, Kelsey loved being on stage, acting in The Lion King, Wizard ofOz and Les Miserables. Big thanks to her mom and her Aunt who made the trek all the way from Canadia to see the show. I love you both very much and it means so much to me that you're here.

LAURA COLE, CC '08 (Lighting Design): Currently a junior in the college, Laura has been involved with theater at Columbia since her freshman year. Most recently she was stage manager and lig hting designer for CD Player's Th e Real Thing. Laura adores the cast and crew of Two Weeks and would like to thank them all for their hard work . Laura wishes everyone the best ofluck trying to look as awesome as her lights.

KAy PRINS, CC '09 (Costumes/Props): Kay is currently suffering from the incurable (and most always fatal) disease known as "theatre -itis". This dis ease manifests itself by forcing the host to par ticipate in multiple theatrical productions, such as this and CD Players I The Real Thing, as well as to sing loudly in public spaces such as elevators, subway cars, and the corner of Broadway and 116th Street. Although this disease has also forced Ms. Prin s to appear previously in productions of LateNite, CMTS'The Wild Party, and other performances on campus, she does not

:, wish to be cured. Ever.
