Act One:

Beatrice Cartwell is the youngest in a prominent, well-respected theater amily! "ermother, aunt, and grandmother have an array o awards and accolades rom the acting

community! At #$, Beatrice is %ehind schedule in terms o her career! &he yearns or that

%ig %reak to take her rom %eing Olivia Cartwell's daughter, the actress who was in thatsmall movie, to a %ig-time, revered star in her own right! (espite her disappointment with

her career, Beatrice does have one thing going or her, and that's her %oyriend Ben!

They've %een seeing each other or a year, and met at an opening night party or a playOlivia Cartwell was starring in! Ben was there with his %est riend and agent Claude, who

happened to have a client in the show! They always had a tempestuous relationship, %ut it

always %rought them closer! Ben grew up in the &an )ernando *alley, an only child, with

parents who coddled him and told him he was ridiculously talented at everything, giving

him an ego the si+e o Montana! "e made his way into show %usiness %y hostinginomercials! hen Ben lands the lead in a T* show with tons o %u++! The eminent

ame takes a toll on Ben's %ehavior, and he %reaks up with Beatrice! . can't %e datingsomeone when .'m a%out to %e a %ig time T* star!/ Beatrice and Ben are %oth devastated

%ut move on!

ew supporting roles in some critically acclaimed, %ut limited release independent ilms!

&he gets a call rom her agent, letting her know she's received the lead role in (onPeters' new play! (on Peters had 1ust won the Pulit+er Pri+e or (rama or his last play,

so his sophomore work is much anticipated! There is already tons o press surrounding

the pro1ect, so this role really could %e what takes Beatrice's career to the ne2t level!Beatrice phones her mother with the good news! "er mother, unintentionally, remindsBeatrice how the good, well-respected name o the amily is on her shoulders, and rides

on this perormance! Oh shit,/ thinks Beatrice aloud! &he hadn't really thought a%out it

3uite like that! Conident that she can handle the role, she phones her agent to tell himshe'll accept the show's oer!

Ben has %ecome that guy/ in the %usiness! 4ou know, the guy who plays the lead's %estriend! The guy where you know his ace %ut not his name! To this day, some people still

recogni+e him rom the inomercials rom years ago when he gets a latte rom &tar%ucks!

ell known producer Fohn Prince comes to see the o-Broadway show "illary currentlystage manages, to see i he wants to transer it to Broadway! hile waiting %ackstage, he

makes a pass at "illary! "e makes a pass at her, and she %rushes him o politely! .n an

attempt to get closer to her, he oers to let her stage manage his ne2t show, the new (on

Peters play! &he immediately accepts, warning him that this doesn't change her minda%out him! O course, o course! This is isn't a%out that! . 1ust have heard great things

a%out you, and you id a great 1o% on this piece! . 1ust think you're the right woman or the

1o%!/

Act Two:

"illary is e2cited, %ut remains proessional and well-prepared! 9ven (on Peters mentions

how he can't %elieve this is her irst Broadway show! &he has one o those 1o%s that not in

the spotlight, %ut is crucial to the inal pro1ect, and that's e2actly how she likes it! &he'se2cited to %e working with Beatrice Caldwell, %ecause she's always admired her amily!

They immediately strike up a great riendship! At the press meeting, an instant connection

is ormed %etween Claude and "illary! This should %e interesting,/ Claude notes! 4es! .

hope you'll %e stopping %y the theater oten!/ Claude and "illary develop a whirlwindromance 3uickly, %ut it is %ased on something real! 9veryone knows it, and respects and

admires the relationship! They are the perect couple, giving and understanding! They can

relate to each other %ecause they are in the %usiness without %eing in the spotlight! Claude proposes, and "illary accepts!
