CANBERRA TRIP

2018

“Finally we’re here!” Those were the thoughts of all the 5/6’s as we arrived at our

accommodation at the Ibis Styles Hotel in Canberra. After a long and tiring bus drive, the 5/6’s

couldn’t be more excited to start off their week, all looking forward to The War Memorial,

Questacon, Parliament House and the AIS!

Whitehorse Primary was honored to have their school captains, Flynn and Hannah to take part

in the wreath laying during The Last Post Commemoration Ceremony at the Australian War

Memorial. All students were also thrilled to meet the Hon Micheal Sukkar in person at Parliament

House. We were mystified by the science and technology at Questacon, Geoscience and

CSIRO ( Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation), dazzled by the Art and

Artefacts shown to us at the National Portrait Gallery and the National Museum of Australia, as

well as entertained by the athletes at the AIS.

Tiring but enjoyable, our Canberra trip could easily be named the best camp by far. Thank- you

to all the teachers who left their families to look after us, the staff at Ibis Hotel for feeding us,

giving us a place to stay and putting up with our late night disco’s. And, of course the bus

drivers who drove us all around Canberra, as well the two painstakingly long drives at the start

and end of our amazing Canberra trip.
