5 August 2015 Term 3 Twilight Fair LUNCH ORDERS BY MISS PEPPERCORN We have had our first week of Miss Peppercorn lunch orders and judging by the comments we have heard and the number of orders the service has been well received. The children are certainly excited when they come down to collect the lunch order boxes. BPAY Parents have the opon of using BPay for paying for curriculum based items such as fees, excursions and camps. The unique code is sent out to each family every year with the Booklist informaon. We are sending the unique codes home again today just in case the codes haven’t been kept. We recommend that you store the code for later use as, unfortunately the department’s finance package does not enable us to generate it with each noce sent home. WAKEFIELD ST TRAFFIC ISSUES We are receiving more and more complaints about parents parking and leaving their cars in the two minute zone, people doing three point turns in dangerous circumstances and most horrifying children exing the family car onto the road instead of onto the footpath. These concerns are all raised with the safety of all children in mind. Currently, we are seeking help and advice from the local council to try and address some of these issues. In the meanme, I implore all our community to be caring, thoughul and considerate of the children in our community. To cause the injury or death of a child would be a trauma that cannot be recovered from. HOUSE ATHLETICS At this point in me we don’t have an outcome from the House Athlecs. This is because the wind became too strong on the day and the hurdles events could not be held. So watch this space for the results. LUNCH ORDERS BY MISS PEPPERCORN We have had our first week of Miss Peppercorn lunch orders and judging by the comments we have heard and the number of orders the service has been well received. The children are certainly excited when they come down to collect the lunch order boxes. BPAY Parents have the option of using BPay for paying for curriculum based items such as fees, excursions and camps. The unique code is sent out to each family every year with the Booklist information. We are sending the unique codes home again today just in case the codes haven’t been kept. We recommend that you store the code for later use as, unfortunately the department’s finance package does not enable us to generate it with each notice sent home. WAKEFIELD ST TRAFFIC ISSUES We are receiving more and more complaints about parents parking and leaving their cars in the two minute zone, people doing three point turns in dangerous circumstances and most horrifying children exiting the family car onto the road instead of onto the footpath. These concerns are all raised with the safety of all children in mind. Currently, we are seeking help and advice from the local council to try and address some of these issues. In the meantime, I implore all our community to be caring, thoughtful and considerate of the children in our community. To cause the injury or death of a child would be a trauma that cannot be recovered from. HOUSE ATHLETICS At this point in time we don’t have an outcome from the House Athletics. This is because the wind became too strong on the day and the hurdles events could not be held. So watch this space for the results.

NOTICES HOME TODAY

100 DAYS OF FOUNDATION It is hard to believe that the Foundation (Prep) children have been at school for more than 100 days. A wonderful event was put on by the Foundation staff to celebrate the children being 100 days smarter! It was a short but joyous event and we thank all that were involved in the organisation and presentation including the wonderful volunteers. SHOWCASE DINNERS - GRADE 3/4 The very special Showcase Dinners start next week. We have received many bookings which is wonderful. We look forward to seeing you on the night!

H2O SCIENCE EXPO – THURSDAY 17 SEPTEMBER The children and staff are preparing for the Science Expo at the moment. You will see there are requests for donations of materials such as containers and bottle tops for the preparation. ‘Professor’ Fly has included a list in this newsletter. If you can send along some materials it would be greatly appreciated.

JUNIOR CHOIR - HELP NEEDED

Junior choir is looking for someone to be a

piano accompanist on a Thursday at

2:00pm. If you are able to help, please see

Miss Ranson or Mr Merriweather.

KITCHEN GOINGS ON First of all, a HUGE thank you to Kathy Zouglakis, Kath Clarke, and Tracey Ervin for coming in and doing some cleaning in the kitchen at the end of last term. It is hard for me to find the time to do a thorough clean, so it was greatly appreciated. A good laugh was had by all! This month the 3/4s are having their showcase dinners. The children are wildly excited by this and we are busy preparing for them in our regular kitchen classes. For those of you that don't know much about the program, it is a great opportunity to see just how capable your children are in the kitchen. I would also encourage you to let them cook at home. I do stress the importance of cleaning up afterwards; they do learn dishwashing and all sorts of skills in the kitchen garden, so don't let them fool you into thinking otherwise! We have also started to contribute to the Stephanie Alexander kitchen garden website. Get on it and have a look with your children, there are a lot of schools uploading stories and recipes from their classes. We are always looking for helpers and we usually have a lot of fun in the kitchen, and the kids love having someone special come in, so please think about volunteering your time. KNIFE SHARPENING Knives - $7.00 each Axes, Secateurs, Hedge Clippers & Tomahawks - $9.00 each Please wrap items securely and bag with the correct money and your name. Leave at the office or in the kitchen. Sharpening will be done on Thursday 6 August and will be available for collection after school in the kitchen. Deborah Kilpatrick Kitchen Specialist

these materials and sending them to school. Materials required are:

Newspapers

Milk bottle lids

Tins of various sizes (soup, dog food)

Old wire hanging baskets

Smaller plastic plant pots (ten centimetre diameter)

Yoghurt containers

All materials can be sent to school and placed in the collection boxes outside the Science
