Welcome Zach Zuvich! Our New Youth Minister and

Pastor’s Corner Dear Parishioners,
Today is Catechetical Sunday! We celebrate the gifts of
our religious education instructors and teachers at both of our
schools at the 9:30 AM Mass.
Please welcome Zack Zuvich to Holy Family! Zack is
serving as a new youth minister and Oneight confirmation coordinator, taking
the place of Matthew Leon. He will be working closely with James Jonson in serving
our middle school kids and high school teens. Please see the bulletin cover for his
photo and more information. Welcome aboard, Zack!!
Thanks to all of you who participated in our 6th Annual Mass on the Grass
celebration. This was our biggest Mass on the Grass yet. The location and food
distribution worked effectively. If you did not come, you totally missed out. Thanks
especially to the following: Matthew Leon and Scott Hines for setting up our sound
and the band for our music; Eldrin Masangkay, sacristans and altar servers; James
Jonson and our Life Teen Core members for setting up for our liturgy outside; and
our Life teen ushers, greeters, lectors and EMHC’s.
I also want to thank the following people for the social that we enjoyed after
Mass: Our Grade School principal Fidela Suelto, PTO President Tony Makhoul and
the Grade School PTO for setting up and maintaining the grade school grounds; and
Jose Sierra and the Glendale Kiwanis for barbequing our food. Thanks also to Misha
Buising and Singles For Christ for serving our food; Sonia Calleja and the greeters for
organizing and serving our dessert; Joan Dundas and the Charismatic Prayer group
for organizing and serving our beverages; Manny Landig and the Our Lady of Fatima
folks for handling our safety; Jim De John and the Knights of Columbus for helping
with our parking and entrance control; our Divine Mercy and Our Lady Queen of
Angels groups for organizing our 50/50 drawing; all of our parishioners who brought
drinks, desserts and door prizes; and last but not least … a very special thank you to
our overall event coordinators, Mark Geraci, Tom Arredondo and Deacon Ron Baker.
Without you, the event would not be what it is. So, thank you for all of the hard work
and incredible support!!
The sign up deadline is rapidly approaching for THE EDGE for middle
schoolers (x381), ONEIGHT Confirmation for high school teens (x381), and RCIA for
adults interested in exploring our Catholic faith tradition and adults interested in
pursuing the sacraments of First Holy Communion and/or Confirmation (x382).
We are still short on our Together in Mission goal to support needy parishes
and schools in the archdiocese. A number of those who have pledged have failed to
make their commitments. Are you perhaps one of them? If not, please honor your
commitment to the needy parishes and schools as soon as possible.
Just a friendly reminder: the Elks club is open for parish parking for Sunday
morning Masses. When the gates are open, please feel free to utilize this lot. We
appreciate the generosity of the Elks club. It is located just west of the church
between Colorado and Elk Avenues.

(Zach Zuvich)
I am originally from Holy Trinity
Parish in San Pedro. Fr. Jim played
a huge part in my initial conversion
when he was a new priest while I
was there in high school. Holy Trinity
is where I started my work in youth
ministry as a peer leader. I
eventually became a Core member
after graduating high school. I
worked in the maritime industry the
last eight years while helping out
different parishes in Oregon and
Washington where I lived. I then
realized God was calling me to
something bigger. I left the industry
and started focusing on ministry.
Fr. Jim reached out to me and I
accepted this opportunity to be here.
With this new role as Youth Minister,
I hope with the help of the parish,
Core team, and Assistant Youth
Minister, James Jonson to lead the
teens closer and grow deeper in
their love for God.

Sponsor A New
Vestment
At all special celebrations at Holy Family, including Christmas
and Easter, the priests and deacons wear matching vestments
to celebrate the mass. Our current vestments are over 25
years old and need to be replaced. If you would like to
sponsor one of the vestments, your name or a memorial name
for a loved one can be embroidered on the inside back flap of
the vestment. We are hoping to fund this project so we can
use the new vestments
for Christmas. All our
old vestments will be
donated to our sister
parish in Haiti. If you
would like to sponsor a
vestment, please
contact Deacon Ron
Baker at dn-

Holy Family Grade School
NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY
(For Holy Family Grade School and Holy Family High School)
The school, mindful of its mission to be a witness to the love of Christ for all, admits students regardless of race, color,
national origin, and/or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made
available to students at the school.
The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, disability, medical condition, sex, or national and/or ethnic
origin in the administration of educational policies and practices, scholarship programs, and athletic and other school-
administered programs, although certain athletic leagues and other programs may limit participation and some
archdiocesan schools operate as single-sex schools.
While the school does not discriminate against students with special needs, a full range of services may not always be
available to them. Decisions concerning the admission and continued enrollment of a student in the school are based
upon the student's emotional, academic, and physical abilities and the resources available to the school in meeting the
student's needs.

nera. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
