Collect of the Day BCP p. 236
First Reading Ruth 3:1-5; 4:13-17
All sit.
Naomi her mother-in-law said to Ruth, “My daughter, I need to
seek some security for you, so that it may be well with you. Now
here is our kinsman Boaz, with whose young women you have been
working. See, he is winnowing barley tonight at the threshing floor.
Now wash and anoint yourself and put on your best clothes and go
down to the threshing floor; but do not make yourself known to the
man until he has finished eating and drinking. When he lies down,
observe the place where he lies; then, go and uncover his feet and
lie down; and he will tell you what to do.” She said to her, “All that
you tell me I will do.”
So, Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. When they came
together, the LORD made her conceive, and she bore a son. Then the
women said to Naomi, “Blessed be the LORD, who has not left you
this day without next-of-kin; and may his name be renowned in
Israel! He shall be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your
old age; for your daughter-in-law who loves you, who is more to
you than seven sons, has borne him.” Then Naomi took the child
5
and laid him in her bosom and became his nurse. The women of the
neighborhood gave him a name, saying, “A son has been born to
Naomi.” They named him Obed; he became the father of Jesse, the
father of David.
Remain seated.
Second Reading Hebrews 9:24-28
Christ did not enter a sanctuary made by human hands, a mere copy
of the true one, but he entered into heaven itself, now to appear in
the presence of God on our behalf. Nor was it to offer himself again
and again, as the high priest enters the Holy Place year after year
with blood that is not his own; for then he would have had to suffer
again and again since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he
has appeared once for all at the end of the age to remove sin by the
sacrifice of himself. And just as it is appointed for mortals to die
once, and after that the judgment, so Christ, having been offered
once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal
with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.
Sequence Song Brokenness Aside
Verse 1
Will Your grace run out if I let You down
'Cause all I know is how to run
Chorus
('Cause) I am a sinner
If it's not one thing it's another
Caught up in words tangled in lies (oh yeah)
But You are a Savior
And You take brokenness aside
And make it beautiful beautiful (oh yeah)
Verse 2
Will You call me child when I tell You lies
'Cause all I know is how to cry

Holy Gospel Mark 12:38-44
As Jesus taught, he said, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk
around in long robes, and to be greeted with respect in the
marketplaces, and to have the best seats in the synagogues and
places of honor at banquets! They devour widows’ houses and for
the sake of appearance say long prayers. They will receive the
greater condemnation.”
He sat down opposite the treasury, and watched the crowd putting
money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. A poor
widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a
penny. Then he called his disciples and said to them, “Truly I tell
you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are
contributing to the treasury. For all of them have contributed out of
their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she
had, all she had to live on.”

Watch over your child, O Lord, as her days increase; bless and
guide her wherever she may be. Strengthen her when she stands;
comfort her when discouraged or sorrowful; raise her up if she fall;
and in her heart may your peace which passes understanding abide
all the days of her life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Communion Songs Come to the Table
Verse 1
We all start on the outside
The outside looking in
This is where grace begins
We were hungry we were thirsty
With nothing left to give
Oh the shape that we were in
Pre-Chorus
Just when all hope seemed lost
Love opened the door for us
9
Chorus
(He said) come to the table
Come join the sinners who have been redeemed
Take your place beside the Savior
Sit down and be set free
(Come to the table)
Verse 2
Come meet this motley crew of misfits
These liars and these thieves
There's no one unwelcome here
So that sin and shame that you've brought with you
You can leave it at the door
And let mercy draw you near
Bridge
To the thief and to the doubter
To the hero and the coward
To the pris'ner and the soldier
To the young and to the older
All who hunger all who thirst
All the last and all the first
All the paupers and the princes
All who've failed you've been forgiven
All who dream and all who suffer
All who've loved and lost another
All the chained and all the free
All who follow all who lead
Anyone who's been let down
All the lost you have been found
All who've been labeled right or wrong
To ev'ryone who hears this song
Ending
Woah sit down and be set free
Come to the table
Come to the table
Just sit down and rest awhile
Just sit down and rest awhile
Come to the table

Lord God, we thank you for giving us our daily bread. Through the
power of your Holy Spirit, give us grateful hearts so that we may
live generous lives. Strengthen us so that we may choose to love
one another with your honor and respect. Encourage us so that we

The Emmanuel Chapter of the Daughters of the King are worshiping
together today.
Who Are the Daughters of the King?
The Daughters of the King is an Order made up of women and girls between
the ages of seven and one hundred and seven who desire a closer walk with
the Lord. We are Christian women, both lay and ordained, who are
strengthened through the discipline of a Rule of Life, and supported through
the companionship of our sisters. We are all at different stages of our
Christian journey – some have just begun and some have been on this path for
a long time. But no matter where we are on our sacred journeys, our primary
goal is the same – to know Jesus Christ and to make Him known to others.
A Christian order is a community of men or women living under a religious
rule. Because Daughters of the King accept a Rule of Life, we define
ourselves as an order, not an organization. Our community is found primarily
in our local chapters, but it extends around the world.
We don’t just enroll as members and attend meetings. After a three-month
period of study and discernment, each new member takes vows to uphold the
two Rules of the Order, the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service.
Membership in the Order is open to women at every stage of life. The
diversity of different ages strengthens and enriches our adult, or senior,
Daughters of the King chapters. Younger women benefit from the
discipleship of experienced spiritual mentors, and older women are
invigorated by the fresh faith and energy of youth. Many senior chapters help
spread the Kingdom to the next generation by sponsoring and supporting a
Junior Daughters of the King chapter at their churches. Please contact Katie
Plotkin at [email protected] or Carol Smith at [email protected]
if you are interested in more about the Daughters of the King.
Vision Statement of the Order
Empowered by the Holy Spirit, our vision as Daughters of the King is to
know Jesus Christ, to make Him known to others, and to become reflections
of God’s love throughout the world.
