DESCRIPTION

Preachers holler about ordinary Christians breaking God's tithing law. But they do it in many more ways than the ones they yell at.

Twelve Tithing Law$ Preachers Break

1. PREACHERS TAKE THE WRONG KIND OF TITHES IN ALL PARTS OF THE EARTH, FROM THE WRONG TYPE OF PEOPLE.

Tithes were to be collected ONLY from the Children of Israel, and the source of the tithe was to be the Land of Israel (see Lev.27:30-34). They were to consist ONLY of edible agricultural produce. God did not command the tithe to come out of the bank accounts of people from other nations.

2.PREACHERS DEMAND THE FIRST (BEST PART) OF YOUR MONEY BEFORE YOU PAY YOUR BILLS.

God asked for the tenth item to be set aside as the tithe, not the first. Preachers break His commandment not to search to see if what’s being offered as a “tithe” is the best (Lev.27:32-33). In forcing you to pay an unscriptural money tithe, preachers force you to disobey Romans 13:8, which says not to owe anyone anything but love. They force you to

Page 2: Twelve Tithing Laws Preachers Break

owe THEM an ongoing debt of ten per cent of your income till the day you die, regardless of how old, needy and sick you are.

3. PREACHERS WITH THE WRONG GENEALOGY TAKE TITHESNumbers 18:21-24 and Heb. 7:5 make it plain that only the sons of Levi were ever authorized by God to collect tithes, and only from the children of Israel. No other tribes of Israel were ever supposed to collect tithes, and certainly not Gentiles! Any Gentile who takes tithes today is violating God’s Word. Today the wrong people (Gentiles) are collecting the wrong kind of tithe (money) from the wrong people (poor landless people) in the wrong period of history (no Levitical priesthood exists today, or has existed since the destruction of the Temple in 70 A.D.). And they’re doing it in the wrong land (God only commanded tithes to be taken from the produce of HIS land, not Yazoo City Michigan, or Orlando, Florida, but the Land of Israel! ). I would suggest that every tithe collector dig up as many ancient records as possible to verify an UNBROKEN line of descent from Aaron the High Priest (anyone for a DNA test)?

Gentile (non-Jewish) Preachers CANNOT Take Tithes From Anyone!Numbers 18:21 says that the children of Levi have the right to take that particular tithe earmarked for the Levites, which is different from the festival tithe and the special one set aside for the poor. Verse 26 mentions yet another tithe which the Levites have to pay out of the tithes they themselves receive from the people. So next time your pastor claims the right to the tithe because he’s a spiritual Levite (funny how the money is never spiritualized) ask him if he pays tithes on the tithes he himself receives, just like the ancient Levites did. If he’s not doing that, he’s breaking one of God’s tithing laws. And, ask your pastor if he’s a direct descendant of Aaron the High Priest. Even if he claims Jewish descent, not just any old Jew will do, he has to be a Levite. God didn’t choose non-Jews to take tithes out of you. Anybody who impersonated a Levite so he could take tithes out of the people (or perform any other function of a Levite) would formerly have been struck dead by God (Num.1:51).

Numbers 18:21 says that the children of Levi have the right to take that particular tithe earmarked for the Levites, which is different from the festival tithe and the special one set aside for the poor. All preachers do is seize on the ten per cent figure and forget all those fiddly tithing regulations which are actually in God’s Word. They forget about the 20% surcharge worshippers must pay to buy their tithe back for cash (see Lev.27:31).

If preachers insist on forcing people to tithe on monetary gain from their jobs, why not do a thorough job on it, just in case they “rob god”

Page 3: Twelve Tithing Laws Preachers Break

(themselves)? Preachers neglect to make worshippers tithe on an appreciation in the value of their homes, on the value of personal gifts, on the value of favors done by others which saved them money, etc. Preachers just zero in on the simple ten per cent of the GROSS (before govt. taxes) value of regular paychecks and welfare checks. Keep It Simple, Stupid. Don’t kill the goose that laid the golden egg or it will go flying out the door and you’ll never see it laying eggs in your pews ever again. Don’t go after ten per cent of that little kid’s M&M’s, though candy is more of a foodstuff than a germy, nasty-tasting twenty-dollar bill!

And what if the almighty dollar lost all its value and people went to a barter economy? What if Farmer Joe swapped a day’s labor for a ton of horse manure? Would the preacher still insist on ten per cent of Joe’s GROSS income?

4. PREACHERS TAKE TITHES FOR THE WRONG PURPOSE. For the most part, tithes are not earmarked to feed widows and orphans who possess no Biblical inheritance of land (see Deut.14:28-29). Instead, tithes are being taken FROM THE POOR BY THE RICH. They are being taken from the mouths of poor people on Social Security to build fancy buildings and other trivial things which will not pass the test of eternity. THOSE WHO SOLICIT TITHES FROM WELFARE CHECKS ARE ROBBING CAESAR AND GIVING IT TO PREACHERS WHO CONSIDER THEMSELVES LITTLE GODS.

The sheer irony of this is that the true Biblical tithe was God’s social welfare program to ensure that no one ever had to starve to death in ancient Israel. But lots of modern preachers insist that they need welfare worse than that homeless guy hanging around the food bank. They’ve decided that any money you give to help those “outside the ministry” must count as a “freewill offering” over and above THEIR tithe!

5. PREACHERS WON’T LET YOU BUY YOUR FAVORITE FOODS AND BEVERAGES WITH YOUR TITHE MONEY.

Here’s one passage I’ve NEVER heard any preacher preach on:

Deut. 14:22: Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year. 23 And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.

Page 4: Twelve Tithing Laws Preachers Break

24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee: 25 Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose: 26 And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household, 27 And the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee. 28 At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates: 29 And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.

Money was only involved in tithing if that agricultural produce was too cumbersome to carry to the place of worship (verses 24-25). In such a case, the tithed produce could be sold, but the money gained from its sale had to be used to purchase replacement food for the worshipper, the Levite, the widow and the fatherless in the land. Today’s preachers use tithe money to pay the church mortgage.

Deut.14:26 commands worshippers to buy anything they want to eat and drink (even wine) with their tithe money. Whoever breaks just ONE point of any of God’s law has broken it all (James 2:10). If that preacher won’t let you do this, he stands in violation of this tithing regulation and has failed to keep the whole law good enough to please the Lord.

6. “SPIRITUAL LEVITE PREACHERS” DON’T (USUALLY) TITHE ON THE TITHES THEY TAKE FROM THE PEOPLE.

Many, if not most, preachers don’t pay tithes on the tithes they themselves receive (a tenth of the tenth), see Num.18:26-29). Preachers who claim status as “spiritual Levites” can’t have it both ways. They want the glory, not the grindstone, associated with being a spiritual Levite. If they want to pull rank on you, they could set their sights higher. Numbers 3:9 and 8:19 says that the Levites WERE GIVEN AS GOD’S GIFT to the sons of Aaron, the ONLY Israelites allowed to be

Page 5: Twelve Tithing Laws Preachers Break

priests! Ordinary Levites, were, in effect, bondservants (virtual slaves) of the priesthood! Far from being the kingpins, the Levites did the menial chores of the Tabernacle, such as setting up its props, skinning sacrifices, transporting Tabernacle furnishings, ministering at the Door of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, etc. Levites were barred from approaching any of God’s holy things in the Most Holy Place (Ezek.44:13). But the actual priesthood, taken from Aaron’s branch of the Tribe of Levi, drew near to the Presence of Almighty God at the Altar!

Tithing under Grace is deceptive religiosity cooked up by the money-hungry religious Establishment. Preachers call themselves “spiritual Levites”. But all lower-ranking members of the tribe of Levi DID pay tithes in the Old Testament (Num.18:25-28). And they paid them to Aaron the High Priest. The actual priesthood did NOT tithe. All true Christian believers are priests under the New Covenant (I Pet.2:5,9). Jesus is the ONLY High Priest of our covenant (Heb.7:20-28)! And we are made one spirit with Him through faith (I Cor.6:17). So how can we rank lower on God’s totem pole than pulpit preachers? Anyone who collects tithes today from God’s Royal Priesthood (regular believers) is a fraud usurping Jesus’ position as High Priest of the New Covenant, even if he is doing it out of ignorance! And people who pay tithes are giving credibility to the old clergy-laity division in the Body of Christ which began back in the early Middle Ages.

7.PREACHERS WITH MOLES, WARTS, AND OTHER BODILY BOOBOOS PLAY LEVITICAL PRIEST TO TAKE YOUR TITHE.

Preachers who disregard the priesthood of all believers might try to convince you that they’re the modern counterpart of the OT priesthood, who came only from Aaron’s subclan of the Tribe of Levi. While lower-ranking Levites did the less glamorous tasks of the Tabernacle’s outer court ministry, these men (no women, please) presided at the altar and were exempt from tithing while enjoying the best of everything. But OT altar priests couldn’t have a single physical defect, they had to be perfect (Lev.21:21). Preachers who claim to be modern Levitical priests had better use Clearasil to get rid of their zits, or get laser surgery to remove all their moles or they’re in direct violation of God’s laws concerning the OT priesthood. Nowhere in Scripture is any believer authorized to waive the Old Testament preconditions of being a physically perfect male descended from the line of Aaron in order to hang onto the only Old Testament ordinance which fills pockets, while excusing Christians from other Jewish ordinances.

Page 6: Twelve Tithing Laws Preachers Break

Next time your preacher talks about “spiritual Levites”, remind him there were twelve tribes of Israel, not just one. Ask him where all the spiritual Danites, Gadites, and Reubenites are, and what THEIR function is in the Body of Christ! You’ll probably leave the poor guy tongue-tied! One other thing: there’s an age limit on being a spiritual Levite. SIX times God makes it clear you need to take it easy and quit wearing yourself out taking tithes if you’re older than fifty (Num.4:23,30,35,39,43,47). A lot of old codgers screaming for vows of faith on TV could stand to give their hysterical voices a good rest. They’re already feeding in green pastures, and without being saddled with a $30,000 debt like that starry-eyed college grad who can’t land the job of his dreams!. Bad doctrine has been repeated millions of times from millions of pulpits over the centuries, so I’ll repeat the TRUTH: The Levites presented their own “tithe of the tithe” to the Priesthood who did not have to pay any tithes at all (see Numbers 18:26-28)! Only this tithe, PAID BY THE LEVITES, was ever stored in Temple storehouses (Neh.10:38)!

In view of Christ’s priesthood of all believers is a SIN to force Christians to pay tithes. Those who pay tithes deny their own priesthood and help to create extra intermediaries between God and man. There is only ONE mediator between God and man, Christ Jesus (I Tim.2:5). Preachers just don’t get it. Jesus and His Bride the Church need quality time alone. Three’s a crowd!

8. PREACHERS NEGLECT THE FESTIVAL TITHE, WHICH WAS SET ASIDE BY THE WORSHIPPER TO CONSUME AT THREE ANNUAL JEWISH FEASTS (Deut.12:17-18; 14:22-27; 16:11).

Deuteronomy chapter 12 is a real eye-opener! Not only were the Israelites permitted to eat their tithes, but their vows, sacrifices and their offerings! Just think of all the yelling you’ve heard by TV preachers about how you owe THEM a “vow of faith” and how you have to make a “sacrificial offering” of your scarce money instead of using it to sustain your own life! They gave you the impression that unless you sent your kid’s lunch money “by faith” to Preacherland, California, in tomorrow morning’s mail as a “special one-time vow unto the lord” that God would treat your prayers like junk mail!Deut.12:5: But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come: 6 And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your

Page 7: Twelve Tithing Laws Preachers Break

flocks: 7 And there ye shall eat before the LORD your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the LORD thy God hath blessed thee.

Deut.12:17: Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the tithe of thy corn, or of thy wine, or of thy oil, or the firstlings of thy herds or of thy flock, nor any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy freewill offerings, or heave offering of thine hand: 18 BUT THOU MUST EAT THEM (THE AFOREMENTIONED VOWS, FIRSTLINGS, TITHES AND EVEN THE FREEWILL OFFERINGS!) before the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD thy God shall choose, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates: and thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God in all that thou puttest thine hands unto. 19 Take heed to thyself that thou forsake not the Levite as long as thou livest upon the earth. 20 When the LORD thy God shall enlarge thy border, as he hath promised thee, and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh, because thy soul longeth to eat flesh; thou mayest eat flesh, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after. 21 If the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to put his name there be too far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy herd and of thy flock, which the LORD hath given thee, as I have commanded thee, and thou shalt eat in thy gates whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.

So much for shaming poor old ladies into surviving on cat food so they can “pay their tithe”! The birds out in my back yard are happier than Christians who sit under (and get squashed by) some ministry bellowing for money. Those birds know they’re gonna get free food to help them survive the winter. And without having to suffer through some abrasive sermon about “Get a job, you lazy slob, if you don’t work (so you can pay US tithes) you don’t eat!”

9. PREACHERS NEGLECT THE POOR TITHE.

Every third year, ALL the tithe was to go to the poor, including the Levites who were not permitted to own property (Deut.14:28-29). Most tithe-collecting “spiritual Levites” own very real real estate and cannot be classified as being among the poor. Next time your preacher demands tithe money out of your unemployment check, ask him when the third year’s gonna roll around so you’ll be on the receiving end for a change. If the preacher gets mad, say it’s more blessed to give than to receive.

Page 8: Twelve Tithing Laws Preachers Break

10. UNCIRCUMCISED PREACHERS PLAY LEVITICAL PRIEST SO THEY CAN TAKE YOUR TITHE.

Ezek.44:7: Only those circumcised in heart AND IN FLESH can come near God’s sanctuary to preside as priest. If your preacher insists he can play Levite and take tithes from you then he’s breaking that law if he hasn’t had the op (that excludes lady preachers). Unless you’re a very tactful individual, don’t even bring that up with him. That’s just one example of how preachers skate on thin ice by mixing Old Testament law with New Testament worship. The building is NOT the Temple of God, and the bank vault is NOT the NT counterpart of the OT grain storehouses. The body of the believer is God’s Temple (I Cor.6:19). Jesus is the true Bread of Life (John 6:35,41,48). Jesus said this more than once so it must be important. Tithes of the produce of the land kept food in God’s House (Mal.3:10).Our covenant is a spiritual covenant, pictured by physical sacrifices carried out in the Old Covenant (Heb.10:1). You cannot keep more spiritual food (JESUS and the Word of God) in God’s House (your body) by forking over more money to a preacher! Simon Magus got rebuked by Peter for trying to buy the Holy Ghost from him (Acts 8:14-24). Some preachers jump up and down and yell that you can buy a red hot anointing with your cash. I think a lot of them are so far gone they believe their own lies.

11. PREACHERS COLLECT TITHES EVERY SINGLE YEAR, EVEN DURING THE SABBATICAL YEAR OF REST

The land which produced the tithe was to be given a rest every seventh year (Lev.25:4). During that year no crops would be grown. That means no tithing would be done, and the farmer got a rest from sowing and reaping. If working at a chicken plant is today’s counterpart of OT farming, and monetary wages are the equivalent of crops, why don’t preachers ever tell chicken pluckers to quit their jobs for a whole year and forget about tithing? But oh, no, preachers wouldn’t dream of giving their tired workhorses a rest.

Preachers break God’s law about letting the land rest every seventh year. Tithes are collected all year long, every year.

12. LAND-OWNING PREACHERS COLLECT TITHES THOUGH GOD FORBIDS THEM TO.

Deut.18:1:The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance.

Page 9: Twelve Tithing Laws Preachers Break

2 Therefore shall they have no inheritance among their brethren: the LORD is their inheritance, as he hath said unto them.

Preachers who claim to be Levites entitled to all the alleged perks and privileges thereof, disobey God’s command to Levites NOT to own any inheritance of real estate in the land.

Num.18:20: And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel. 21 And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation. 22 Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die. 23 But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance.24 But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.

The Levites received tithes because they owned no real estate to produce food on. That precludes preachers from owning any as well. Num.18:20 says the LORD is your inheritance INSTEAD OF ownership of land. Now if the LORD is the inheritance of some pulpit preacher, isn’t He our Inheritance as well? What about us Christians who have received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit? Doesn’t Christ dwell in our hearts by faith (Eph.3:17)? Preachers can’t pull rank over us for having the Lord as their inheritance if we have Him in our hearts and lives as well.

Now don’t be smug about it and say, “All that verse means is I get to preach instead of slaving away at McDonald’s.” It means exactly what it says. There are a number of tithe (and “seed”) collecting TV preachers who own vast spreads of land in Texas and elsewhere, along with horses and other livestock. They can’t have it both ways. Either they give up their vast wealth or they’re in flagrant disobedience to God’s regulations for tithe-taking Levites.

Another eye-opener in that passage was verse 22 which orders the children of Israel NOT to come anywhere near the Tabernacle of the Congregation. Those people COULDN’T come inside their “church building” to bring tithes and offerings to ushers holding out velvet

Page 10: Twelve Tithing Laws Preachers Break

bags. They were told to stay away from it on pain of death. Why don’t “spiritual Levites” warn Christians to stay away from their church house if they want to copy the old ways? NOWHERE in the New Testament, not even in the Old, does God command a wage earner to tithe. The tithing storehouse mentioned in Malachi 3:10 was just that: a storehouse (Heb.owtsar). This storehouse wasn’t a money safe. It was a depository of foodstuffs to feed those priests who were in Jerusalem taking their turn to minister at the altar. While the first fruits offering was brought to the priest by the ordinary farmer (Neh.10:37a), the tithe for the priesthood (heave offering) was brought BY THE LEVITES, not by the ordinary Israelites (Num.18:25-32; Neh.10:38). The Levites’ tithe was stored in their cities for their consumption (Neh.10:37b). The festival tithe was set aside by the worshipper to take with him to the three major feasts of Israel for his own consumption, and to share with the Levites and less fortunate. The Tithe of the Poor was not destined for the Temple storehouse either. This one was paid every three years. It was laid up WITHIN THE GATES of the Israelites’ cities so Levites and poor people could eat (Deut.14:28-29).

By breaking all these tithing ordinances and adding their own, preachers also break Deut.4:2 and 12:32 which forbids adding to or taking away from the Law of God. Aside from that minor point, preachers are also being a stumbling block to the Body of Christ by teaching them to keep the Old Law in a way God never commanded (which, in His eyes, is the same as breaking it!). In the process they risk coming under its curse (Gal.3:10).
