General Safety• Do not change the specification of this appliance.• This appliance is intended to be used in household and

similar applications such as:– staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working

environments;– by clients in hotels, motels, bed & breakfast and other

residential type environments;– areas for communal use in blocks of flats or in launderettes.

• Do not exceed the maximum load of 8 kg (refer to the"Programme chart" chapter).

• The operating water pressure at the water entry point fromthe outlet connection must be between 0.5 bar (0.05 MPa)and 8 bar (0.8 MPa).

• The ventilation opening in the base must not be covered by acarpet, mat, or any floor covering.

• The appliance must be connected to the water mains usingthe new supplied hose sets, or other new hose sets suppliedby the Authorised Service Centre.

• Old hose sets must not be reused.• If the mains power supply cable is damaged, it must be

replaced by the manufacturer, its Authorised Service Centreor similarly qualified persons to avoid an electrical hazard.

• Before any maintenance operation, deactivate the applianceand disconnect the mains plug from the socket.

• Do not use high pressure water sprays and/or steam to cleanthe appliance.

• Clean the appliance with a moist cloth. Use only neutraldetergents. Do not use abrasive products, abrasive cleaningpads, solvents or metal objects.

Safety instructions

Installation

The installation must comply withrelevant national regulations.

• Remove all the packaging and the transitbolts including rubber bush with plasticspacer.

• Keep the transit bolts in a safe place. Ifthe appliance is to be moved in thefuture they must be reattached to lockthe drum to prevent an internal damage.

• Always take care when moving theappliance as it is heavy. Always usesafety gloves and enclosed footwear.

• Follow the installation instructionssupplied with the appliance.

• Do not use the appliance beforeinstalling it in the built-in structure due tosafety manner.

• Do not install or use a damagedappliance.

• Do not install or use the appliance wherethe temperature can be less than 0°C orwhere it is exposed to the weather.

• The floor area on which the appliance isto be installed must be flat, stable, heatresistant and clean.

• Make sure that there is air circulationbetween the appliance and the floor.

• When the appliance is in its permanentposition, check if it is levelled correctlywith the aid of a spirit level. If it is not,adjust the feet accordingly.

• Do not install the appliance directlyabove a floor drain.

• Do not spray water on the applianceand do not expose it to excessivehumidity.

• Do not install the appliance where theappliance door cannot be fully opened.

• Do not put a closed container to collectpossible water leakage under theappliance. Contact the AuthorisedService Centre to ensure whichaccessories can be used.

Electrical connection

Warning! Risk of fire and electricshock.

• The appliance must be earthed.• Always use a correctly installed

shockproof socket.• Make sure that the parameters on the

rating plate are compatible with theelectrical ratings of the mains powersupply.

• Do not use multi-plug adapters andextension cables.

• Make sure not to cause damage to themains plug and to the mains cable.Should the mains cable need to bereplaced, this must be carried out by ourAuthorised Service Centre.

• Connect the mains plug to the mainssocket only at the end of the installation.Make sure that there is access to themains plug after the installation.

• Do not touch the mains cable or themains plug with wet hands.

• Do not pull the mains cable to disconnectthe appliance. Always pull the mainsplug.

• This appliance is fitted with a 13 A mainsplug. If it is necessary to change themains plug fuse, use only a 13 A ASTA(BS 1362) fuse (UK and Ireland only).

• This appliance complies with the E.E.C.Directives.

Water connection• Do not cause damage to the water

hoses.• Before connection to new pipes, pipes

not used for a long time, where repairwork has been carried out or newdevices fitted (water meters, etc.), let thewater flow until it is clean and clear.

• Ensure that there are no visible waterleaks during and after the first use of theappliance.

• Do not use an extension hose if the inlethose is too short. Contact the AuthorisedService Centre for the replacement of theinlet hose.

• When unpacking the appliance, It ispossible to see water flowing from thedrain hose. This is due to the testing ofthe appliance with the use of water inthe factory.

• You can extend the drain hose tomaximum 400 cm. Contact theAuthorised Service Centre for the otherdrain hose and the extension.

• Make sure that there is access to the tapafter the installation.

Use

Warning! Risk of injury, electricshock, fire, burns or damage tothe appliance.

• Follow the safety instructions on thedetergent packaging.

• Do not put flammable products or itemsthat are wet with flammable products in,near or on the appliance.

• Do not wash fabrics which are heavilysoiled with oil, grease or other greasysubstances. It can damage rubber partsof the washing machine. Prewash suchfabrics by hand before loading them intothe washing machine.

• Do not touch the glass door while aprogramme operates. The glass can gethot.

• Make sure that all metal objects areremoved from the laundry.

Service• To repair the appliance contact the

Authorised Service Centre.• Use original spare parts only.

Disposal

Warning! Risk of injury orsuffocation.

• Disconnect the appliance from the mainselectrical and water supplies.

• Cut off the mains electrical cable close tothe appliance and dispose of it.

• Remove the door catch to preventchildren or pets from becoming trappedin the drum.

• Dispose of the appliance in accordancewith local requirements for the disposalof Waste Electrical and ElectronicEquipment (WEEE).

First use

During installation or before firstuse you may observe some waterin the appliance. This is aresidual water left in theappliance after a full functionaltest in the factory to ensure theappliance is delivered tocustomers in perfect workingorder and is no cause forconcern.

1. Make sure that the electrical power isavailable and the water tap is open.

2. Pour 2 litres of water into the detergentcompartment marked by .

This action activates the drain system.3. Pour a small quantity of detergent into

the compartment marked by .4. Set and start a programme for cotton at

the highest temperature without anylaundry in the drum.

This removes all possible dirt from the drumand the tub.

On/Off buttonPress this button for a few seconds to activate or deactivate theappliance. Two different tunes sound while switching the appli-ance on or off.As the Stand-by function automatically deactivates the appli-ance after several minutes to reduce the energy consumption,press this button to activate the appliance again.For more details, refer to 'Stand-by function' paragraph in 'Dai-ly Use' chapter.

• Door locked indicator:– Indicator on: the door cannot be opened. The appliance

is working or has stopped with water left in the tub.– Indicator off: the door can be opened. The programme is

finished or the water has been emptied out.• Delay start indicator.• The digital indicator can show: reset position ( );

programme duration (e. g. ); delay time (e. g. ); cy-cle end ( ); warning code (e.g. ); error indicator( ).

• FlexTime indicator.• Anti-stain indicator.• Extra Rinse indicator.• Steam phase indicator.• Add garments indicator. It lights at the beginning of the

washing phase, when it is still possible to pause the appli-ance and add more laundry.

• Child safety lock indicator.• Machine clean indicator. This is a recommendation to

perform the drum cleaning.• Anti-crease phase indicator.

4 Delay Starttouch button

With this option you can delay the start of a programme to amore convenient time.Touch the button repeatedly to set the required delay. The timeincreases in steps of 1 hour up to 20 hours.

FlexTime touchbutton

With This option reduces the programme duration dependingon the load size and the degree of soiling.When you set a washing programme, the display shows thedefault duration and the dashes .Tap on this button to reduce the programme duration accord-ing to your needs. The display shows the new programme du-ration and a number of dashes will decrease accordingly:

suitable for a full load of normally soiled garments. a quick cycle for a full load of lightly soiled garments. very quick cycle for a smaller lightly soiled load (max. half

load recommended). the shortest cycle to freshen up a small amount of laundry.

6 Start/Pausetouch button

This button allows you to start or to pause the selected washingprogramme.

Anti-stains touchbutton and per-manent ChildLock option

• Touch this button to set the Anti-stains option .This option is designed to remove stubborn stains. Pour thestain remover into PREWASH compartment.

• Hold pressed this button for 3 seconds to set the Child Lockoption .This option prevents children from playing with the controlpanel: all controls are disabled.To deactivate this option, hold this button pressed for 3 sec-onds.

Extra Rinse touchbutton

This appliance is designed for saving energy. If it necessary torinse the laundry using an extra quantity of water (extra rinse),select this option. Some additional rinses will be performed. Thisoption is recommended for people who are allergic to deter-gents.

The corresponding indicator above the touch buttonilluminates and also stays permanently on duringnext cycles until this option is deactivated.

9 Prewash touchbutton

This option adds a pre-wash phase at 30 °C before the wash-ing phase.This option is recommended for heavily soiled laundry, espe-cially if containing sand, dust, mud and other solid particles.

Spin and addi-tional optionstouch button

When you set a programme, the appliance automatically setsthe maximum spin speed allowed, except in Denim pro-gramme.By means of this button, you can change the default spin speedor set one of the additional spin options:• Rinse Hold . The related indicator comes on.

The final spin is not performed. The water of the last rinse isnot drained out to prevent the fabrics from creasing. Thewashing programme ends with water in the drum.The door stays locked and the drum turns regularly to re-duce creasing. You must drain the water to unlock the door.Refer to 'Draining water out after end of cycle' in the 'Dailyuse' chapter.

• No Spin . The related indicator comes on.Set this option to deactivate all spin phases. The applianceperforms only the draining phase of the selected washingprogramme. Set this option for very delicate fabrics. Therinse phase uses more water for some washing programmes

• Quiet Cycle . The related indicator comes on.The intermediate and the final spinning phases are sup-pressed and the programme ends with water in the drum.The door stays locked. The drum turns regularly to reducecreasing. You must drain the water to unlock the door. Referto 'Draining water out after end of cycle' in the 'Daily use'chapter.As the programme is very quiet, it is suitable for use at nighttime when cheaper electricity tariffs are available. In someprogrammes the rinses are performed with more water.

The appliance empties the water out automaticallyafter approximately 18 hours.

Temperaturetouch button

When you select a washing programme, the appliance auto-matically proposes a default temperature. With this option youcan change the temperature.The indicator of the set temperature comes on.The indicator = cold water.

Acoustic signalsThis appliance has different acousticsignals, that operate when:• You activate the appliance (special short

tune).• You deactivate the appliance (special

short tune).• You touch the buttons (click sound).• You make an invalid selection (3 short

sounds).• The programme is completed (sequence

of sounds for about 2 minutes).• The appliance has a malfunction

(sequence of short sounds for about 5minutes).

To activate/deactivate the acoustic signalswhen the programme is completed, touchthe and the buttons simultaneously forabout 2 seconds. The display shows On orOff.

If you deactivate the acousticsignals, they continue to operatewhen the appliance has amalfunction.

Child Lock With this option you can prevent childrenfrom playing with the control panel.To activate/deactivate this option, hold theAnti-stains button pressed until theindicator comes on/goes off on thedisplay.When it is activated, the appliance willdefault to this option after you switch it offor change/reset the programme. If youpress any button, the indicator blinks toindicate that the buttons are disabled.The Child Lock function may not beavailable for a few seconds after switchingthe appliance on.

Activating the appliance1. Connect the mains plug to the mains

socket.2. Open the water tap.3. Press the On/Off button for a few

seconds to activate the appliance.A short tune sounds.Setting a programme1. Turn the programme knob to select the

desired washing programme.The indicator of the Start/Pause buttonflashes.The display shows an indicative programmeduration.2. To change the temperature and/or the

spin speed, touch the related buttons.3. If desired, set one or more options by

touching the related buttons. Therelated indicators illuminate.

If a selection is not possible anacoustic signal sounds and thedisplay shows .

Loading the laundry

1. Open the appliance door.2. Empty the pockets and unfold the items

before you put them in the appliance.3. Put the laundry in the drum, one item at

a time.Do not exceed the maximum recommendedload for each programme.4. Close the door firmly.

Make sure that nolaundry gets caughtbetween the seal andthe door to avoid riskof water leakage anddamage to thelaundry.

Warning! Washing heavily oiled,greasy stains could causedamage to rubber parts of thewashing machine.

Follow the productmanufacturer's recommendationson quantities to use and do notever exceed the mark inthe detergent dispenser drawer.To measure out the right quantityof the detergent, see moredetails in "Degrees of waterhardness". Any fabric softener orstarching additives must bepoured into the compartmentbefore starting the washprogramme.

After a washing cycle, ifnecessary, remove any detergentresidue from the detergentdispenser drawer.

Pull out the detergentdispenser draweruntil it stops.

The AutoAdjust System load detection

After touching the Start/Pause button:1. The AutoAdjust System starts estimating

the weight of the load to calculate thereal programme duration. During thisphase the indicator placed belowthe time digits plays a simple animation.

2. After about 15-20 minutes the indicator disappears and new cycle

duration is displayed.The appliance automatically adjusts theprogramme duration to the load toachieve perfect washing results in theminimum possible time.

Pausing a programme and changingoptionsWhen the programme is running, you canchange only some options:

1. Touch the Start/Pause button.The related indicator flashes.2. Change the options. The given

information in the display changesaccordingly.

3. Touch the Start/Pause button again.The washing programme continues.

Cancelling a running programme

1. Press the button On/Off to cancelthe programme and to deactivate theappliance.

2. Press the button On/Off again toactivate the appliance.

If the AutoAdjust System hascompleted and the water fillinghas already started, the newprogramme starts withoutrepeating the AutoAdjustSystem. The water and thedetergent are not drained out inorder to avoid waste.

There is also an alternative way ofcancelling:1. Rotate the programme knob to the"Reset" position .2. Wait for 1 second. The display shows

.Now, you can set a new washingprogramme.

Opening the door

Warning! If the temperature andlevel of the water in the drum aretoo high and/or the drum is stillrotating you should not open thedoor.

Adding garments. It isrecommended to add garmentsuntil the is on.

While a programme or the delay startoperates, the appliance door is locked. Thedisplay shows the indicator .

1. Touch the Start/Pause button.In the display the related door lockindicator goes off.2. Open the appliance door. If necessary,

add or remove the garments. Close the

Stand-by functionThe Stand-by function automaticallydeactivates the appliance to reduce theenergy consumption when:• You do not use the appliance for 5

The laundry load• Sort the laundry as follows: white,

coloured, synthetics, delicates and wool.• Follow the washing instructions on the

laundry care labels.• Do not wash white and coloured items

together.• Some coloured items can discolour with

Stubborn stainsFor some stains, water and detergent is notsufficient.We recommend that you pre-treat thesestains before you put the items in theappliance.Special stain removers are available. Usethe special stain remover that is applicableto the type of stain and fabric.

Detergents and other treatments• Only use detergents and other

treatments specially made for washingmachines:– powder detergents for all types of

fabric, excluding delicate. Preferpowder detergents containingbleach for whites and laundrysanitization

– liquid detergents, preferably for lowtemperature wash programmes (60°C max) for all types of fabric, orspecial ones for woollens only.

• Do not mix different types of detergents.• To help the environment, do not use

more than the recommended quantity ofdetergent.

• Follow the instructions that you find onpackaging of the detergents or othertreatments without exceeding theindicated maximum level ( ).

Descaling

If the water hardness in yourarea is high or moderate, werecommend that you use a waterdescaling product for washingmachines.

Regularly examine the drum to check forlimescale.Regular detergents already contain watersoftening agents, but we recommend to runa cycle with an empty drum and adescaling product occasionally.

Always follow the instructionsthat you find on the packaging ofthe product.

Maintenance washThe repeated and prolonged use of lowtemperature programmes can causedetergent deposits, fluff residues, bacterialgrowth inside the drum and the tub. Thiscould generate bad odours and mildew. Toeliminate these deposits and clean the innerpart of the appliance, run a maintenancewash regularly (at least once a month).

Refer to "Cleaning the drum"paragraph.

Door sealRegularly examine the seal of the door andremove all objects from the inner part.

Cleaning the drumRegularly examine the drum to preventunwanted deposits.Rust deposits in the drum may occur due torusting foreign body in the washing or tapwater containing ironClean the drum with special products forstainless steel.

Cleaning the detergent dispenser drawerand the drawer recessThe detergent dispenser drawer should becleaned regularly to remove possibledeposits of dried detergent or clotted fabricsoftener and/or formation of mould.Proceed as follows:

To remove the drawer, press the leverdownwards and pull it out.

To aid cleaning,remove also the toppart of the additivecompartment.

Use a stiff brush toclean and remove allwashing powderresidue.

Flush out all theremoved parts of thedispenser drawerunder a tap toremove any traces ofaccumulated powder.

Use the previousbrush to clean therecess, ensuring thatupper and lower partof it is well cleaned.

After having cleaned the dispenser and thedrawer recess, replace it and run a rinseprogramme without any laundry in thedrum to flush away any residue.

Cleaning the drain pump

IntroductionThe appliance does not start or it stops during operation.First try to find a solution to the problem (refer to the table). If the problem persists, contactthe Authorised Service Centre.

Warning! Deactivate the appliance before carrying out any check.

In case of major problems, the acoustic signals operate, the display shows an alarmcode and the Start/Pause button may flash continuously:

• - The mains supply is unstable. Wait until the mains supply is stable.• - No communication between electronic elements of the appliance. Switch it off

and switch on again. The programme was not finished properly or the appliancestopped too early. If the alarm code appears again, contact the Authorised ServiceCentre.

• - The appliance does not fill with water properly. After the proper check, start theappliance again by pressing Start/Pause button the appliance tries to resume thecycle . If the error persists the alarm code will appear again.

• - The appliance does not drain the water.• - The appliance door is open or not closed correctly. Please check the door!

If the appliance is overloaded, remove some items from the drum and/or holdthe door shut while touching the Start/Pause button until the indicator stops flashing (see the picture below).

Emergency door openingIn case of power failure or functioningfailure the appliance door remains locked.The washing programme continues whenthe power is restored. If the door remainslocked in case of failure, it is possible toopen it using the emergency unlockfunction.Before opening the door:

Caution! Risk of burns! Makesure that the water temperatureis not too high and the laundryis not hot. If necessary, waituntil they cool down.

damage caused by failure to observeoperating instructions, incorrectinstallation or by connection to thewrong voltage, damage caused bychemical or electro-chemical reaction,rust, corrosion or water damageincluding but not limited to damagecaused by excessive lime in the watersupply, damage caused by abnormalenvironmental conditions.

• Consumable parts including batteriesand lamps.

• Non-functional and decorative partswhich do not affect normal use of theappliance, including any scratches andpossible color differences.

• Accidental damage caused by foreignobjects or substances and cleaning orunblocking of filters, drainage systems orsoap drawers.

• Damage to the following parts: ceramicglass, accessories, crockery and cutlerybaskets, feed and drainage pipes, seals,lamps and lamp covers, screens, knobs,casings and parts of casings. Unless suchdamages can be proved to have beencaused by production faults.

• Cases where no fault could be foundduring a technician’s visit.

• Repairs not carried out by our appointedservice providers and/or an authorizedservice contractual partner or wherenon-original parts have been used.

• Repairs caused by installation which isfaulty or not according to specification.

• The use of the appliance in a non-domestic environment i.e. professionaluse.

• Transportation damages. If a customertransports the product to their home orother address, IKEA is not liable for anydamage that may occur during transport.However, if IKEA delivers the product tothe customer's delivery address, thendamage to the product that occursduring this delivery will be covered bythis guarantee.

• Cost for carrying out the initialinstallation of the IKEA appliance.However, if an IKEA service provider orits authorized service partner repairs orreplaces the appliance under the termsof this guarantee, the service provider orits authorized service partner will re-install the repaired appliance or installthe replacement, if necessary.

This restriction do not apply to fault-freework carried out by a qualified specialistusing our original parts in order to adaptthe appliance to the technical safetyspecifications of another EU country.How country law appliesThe IKEA guarantee gives You specific legalrights, which covers or exceed localdemands.
