The Joe Scott Show: The Joe Scott Show returns for its eighth season each Monday from 6-7 p.m. MT on 1550AM & FM 94.1. Brad Thompson hosts the show, which is broadcast from The Pioneer restaurant, located just south of the DU campus.

DU on ROOT SPORTS: The Pioneers will make seven appearances on ROOT SPORTS, six home games and one road game. Vic Lombardi (play-by-play) and Greg Lackey (color) will call all the home action.

Interviews During The Week: All interview requests must be arranged through Ali Majdeteimouri in the Denver Media Relations Office. Please contact Majdeteimouri to arrange interviews during the week. Majdeteimouri can be reached via email ([email protected]), office phone (303-871-7555) or cell phone (303-807-6562). Practice is open, but arrangements must be made in advance if you are planning on shooting B-roll footage. Coach Scott and Denver scholar-athletes are available for interviews on non-game days following practice or through special arrangements with Ali Majdeteimouri.

Postgame Interviews: Postgame interviews will be conducted at a designated site following a 10-minute cooling-off period. Denver head coach Joe Scott and selected players will be available for interviews. Media requests for both Denver and opposing coaches and players should be made to the DU men’s basketball SID. Opponent requests will be forwarded to the visiting SID. The DU men’s basketball locker room is closed to the media.

Camera Procedures: Photographers must work within the designated areas. Photographers may shoot from the right side of each end line of Magness Arena. Requests to photograph from any other location must be made in advance to the University of Denver Athletic Media Relations Department. The University of Denver reserves the right to accept or reject credential requests.

Radio: All radio stations wishing to broadcast from Magness Arena should contact the University of Denver Athletic Media Relations Office at least one week prior to the event. Space will be provided for the official radio station of the visiting team; others will be accommodated as space permits. Phone lines must be arranged for all stations in advance.

Directions to DU: Take I-25 to the South University Boulevard exit. Proceed south to the first stop light (Buchtel Boulevard). Go through the Buchtel Boulevard intersection to the next block south (Jewell Avenue). Take a right on Jewell and proceed west approximately one-half block to the east entrance to the Ritchie Center. Media parking is just east of Joy Burns Arena (the easternmost part of the Ritchie Center) in lot 401.

The Match-up: The Gaels lead the all-time series against the Pioneers 2-1. The last time the teams faced off in Moraga was in 2010 with St. Mary’s getting the win. The teams tipped off against each other on November 23, 2011 and the Pioneers were victorious 70-58 in a game played at Magness Arena.

Broadcast Info: Thursday’s game against St. Mary’s can be seen locally in Denver on Comcast Channel 105 and an audio stream is available through Pioneer Vision. Road Openers: Denver is 5-11 in road openers since returning to D1. DU is 3-4 under head coach Joe Scott in road openers.

Preseason Honors: Senior guard Brett Olson was selected as the 2014-15 Preseason Summit League Player of the Year in a vote by the league coaches, media and SIDs.

Olson Well: Brett Olson is coming off a junior season that saw him named to the All-Summit League First Team. The Highlands Ranch, Colo., native finished the season averaging 14.5 points, 3.5 assists, 3.4 rebounds and was seventh in the NCAA in free throw percentage at .902.

National Rankings: Last season, the Pioneers ranked among the Top 50 in the NCAA in assists/turnover ratio (ninth), turnovers per game (15th), three-pointers per game (26th), turnover margin (26th), three-point percentage (29th), assists per game (41st), and scoring defense (46th).

Reaching the Summit: The Pioneers begin their second season in the Summit League in 2014-15, the team’s third conference since returning to Division 1. Denver was a member of the WAC in 2012-13 after enjoying 13 years in the Sun Belt Conference. The Long Ranger: The Pioneers have at least one three-pointer in 256-straight games, dating back to Feb. 2, 2006.

Shooting Rucker: Junior Bryant Rucker standing at 6-feet tall and being the shortest member of the DU team was able to move his way into the starting lineup last season as a sophomore. Rucker got off to a hot start shooting 4-of-7 from the field (57.1%) and 3-of-5 from behind the arc (60%). He also set a career high with four assist against Idaho State on Nov. 16, 2014.

Road Show: Denver will open the season with five of its first nine games on the road. All five road games will be played against teams that participated in a 2014 post-season tournament.

A Little Help from Their Friends: Denver opened the season against Idaho State with 14 assists on 18 made field goals. The Pioneers had assists on 65.5 percent (466-of-711) of their field goals during the 2013-14, the second-highest mark in the nation, according to KenPom.com. Brett Olson is the leading returner for the Pioneers with 108 assists during the 2013-14 season. In Joe Scott’s first seven seasons at DU, the Pioneers recorded an assist on 66.3 percent of their field goals (3,102 assists on 4,678 field goals made), ranking among the top six highest percentages in the nation every year.

To a Point: The Pioneers eclipsed the 80-point mark for the third time last season, when they beat Saint Francis 83-61 on Dec. 31. DU’s game against Belmont on Dec. 17 marked the first time a Joe Scott-coached team scored 90 points. In his 14th season, Scott is now 17-0 when his team (Air Force, Princeton, Denver) scores at least 80 points, which also includes an 80-70 win at Colorado State on Dec. 11, 2013.

Magness Magic: The Pioneers are 85-19 (.817) at Magness Arena under head coach Joe Scott, including a 51-8 (.864) mark in conference games (Sun Belt/WAC/Summit). In February 2012, ESPN.com’s Ken Pomeroy wrote that Magness Arena was one of the top two home-court advantages in the nation.

Griffin Grabbing: Senior guard Cam Griffin got off to a well-rounded start in the season opener dropping 13 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Griffin led the Pioneers in rebounding during the 2013-14 season averaging 5.8 rebounds a game.

Mid-Major Ranking: Denver is receiving votes in the Mid-Major Top 25. Three of DU’s non-conference opponents are in the Top 10 (No. 5 Nothern Iowa, No. 8 Belmont, No. 10 St. Mary’s). Summit League members Fort Wayne, North Dakota State and Oral Roberts are also receiving votes in the poll.

Conference Rankings: The Pioneers among Summit League teams ranked first in assist/turnover ratio (1.5 a game), 3-point field goals made (8.2 a game), second in steals (7.0 a game), 3-point field goal percentage (.387), scoring defense (64.5) and third in blocks (3.3)

Moving Up the Charts: Brett Olson moved into sole possession of fifth place on the all-time Denver career 3-point FGs made list against Idaho State on November 16, 2014. Olson currently sits at 201 made 3-pointers in his career. Olson is also on pace to move into the top of the all-time games played list at the University of Denver. Olson has played and started all 95 games in his career through his first three seasons.

Byrd’s Eye View: Redshirt junior Marcus Byrd ranked in the top 5 in The Summit League during the 2013-14 season in 3-point percentage (41.7, 5th) and 3-point FG’s made per game (1.8, 5th).

20-Win Seasons: The Pioneers posted back-to-back 22 win seasons in 2011-12 and 2012-13. The 22 wins are the most since returning to Division 1 play with the 2012-13 season culminating with a share of the WAC Regular Season Title.

Freshmen: The Pioneers welcome four freshmen to this year’s 2014-15 team. Centers Daniel Amigo and Christian Mackey and guards Jake Pemberton and Cam Delaney. Duke Douglas and Dorian Butler return after redshirting as freshmen.

Debuts: Freshmen Daniel Amigo made his colleigiate debut against Idaho State on November 16, 2014, starting for the Pioneers. Redshirt freshman Duke Douglas and true freshman Jake Pemberton also made their debuts playing four minutes piece.

Working Overtime: Denver fell to UTEP 60-54 in double overtime on Dec. 29, 2013, marking DU’s first multi-overtime game since Jan. 3, 2009, at Louisiana-Lafayette. During the 2013-14 season, the Pioneers played back-to-back overtime games for the first time since 2009. The Pioneers beat Southern on Dec. 3 for the team’s first overtime win of the season and first since beating Utah State in Logan, Utah, on Feb. 14, 2013, and they fell at Mercer on Dec. 7 for the first overtime loss since falling at Louisiana-Lafayette on Dec. 2, 2012. Denver is 5-21 in overtime games since returning to NCAA Division I in 1998-99, and 4-13 in such games since head coach Joe Scott took over the program in 2006-07, including a 76-75 neutral-site win in Norman, Okla., against East Central University in the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic on Nov. 8, 2008, in Scott’s first game with the Pioneers.

1,000 Point Club- Senior Brett Olson became the 34th member of the 1000 Point Club at the University of Denver on Feb. 27, 2014 at South Dakota State.

Road Warriors: The Pioneers have had winning road records two of the last three seasons their first two winning records since returning to Division 1.

For Starters: The Pioneers are 61-50 all-time in season openers, 7-10 since returning to NCAA Division I and 3-5 under head coach Joe Scott. DU is 11-6 in home openers since returning to DI, including a 54-38 win vs. Idaho State this season. The Pioneers are 4-4 under head coach Joe Scott in home openers.
