CURRENT DEMAND AND NEED
Global concern over the water consumption is started since 1993, having the Water day and currently a huge ef-fort is ongoing to highlight the importance of the economic use of water. According to the WHO almost half of the world population or over 90 countries encountering defi-ciency with drinking water. Over 2 percent increase of the pure water annually means in every 21 years the consump-tion will be doubling. For that we have an urgent need of adopting a decent water management in our country.

Total Water consumption projection of project basin , м3/ a day
3. ISSUES ENCOUNTERED
Mongolia is classified as country with very scarce water reserve. The key reasons for that are: severe continental dry climate at the highlands on the Central Asia, has very limited water reserve, a rare rainfall with very high level of evaporation and most of the bigger rivers actually has outgoing flows.
The total water consumption on the project basin will be increased 2.2 in 2030 compared to year of 2010, whereas the drinking and household water consumption will be increased by 2.34 times
3. ISSUES ENCOUNTERED
Surface water pollution of Ulaanbaatar and its vicinity
As WHO is named the most polluted seven cities Tuul river listed in 5th.3000 population of the Altanbulag Soum of Tuv province and 182000 of livestock, 2000 population of Undurshireet Soum are unable to get the drinking water from Tuul river.
In the section marked in red or from BIO bridge down to Altanbulag bridge only the untreated water from
Central treatment Plant is solely making the flow.
Flow /Тuul river/ Flood hazard
3. ISSUES ENCOUNTERED
Currently 90 percent of the city flood protection facility are in bad shape and in case of the FLOOD its not able to protect or prevent from flooding for which any parts of the city are seriously flooded during summer season which result huge sum of economic losses.
4. PLANNING STRATEGIC GOALS
• Strategic goal 1: “To enhance the underground or surface water reserve while maintaining the Basin ecosystem’s balance and restoring the network of rivers with permanent flow”
• Strategic goal 2: “Fully supply the regions need for pure and quality water while
eliminating the river pollution ”• Strategic goal 3:
“To establish a system of rational and economical use of water” • Strategic goal 4:
“To create conditions to protect from Flood hazard”• Strategic goal 5:
