• Uses ‘Grademark’ to allow electronic marking and feedback• Can include a marking rubric• Can provide written or oral feedbackBUT• Need to set up the assignment, quick marks, marking rubric through

What is the Turnitin app?

Advantages - Staff•Very easy to use• Quick marks, free comments, open text• Audio or written summary comments• Grading rubric

• You can see the originality match as you are marking

• Do not need to be online – can be anywhere• No heavy piles of scripts/assignments to carry• More than one person can view at a time – good for moderation

Advantages - Staff

• Can read the comments – no poor handwriting• Can access the feedback at anytime from anywhere• Can download a pdf copy of the assignments with the feedback and

explanation of the quick comments

Advantages - Students

• Scripts appear in a random order and change each time you access the app – can cause issues when using anonymous marking• Need multiple assignments for multiple markers• Some set-up time for Quick marks and rubric (less time in future

years)• Still need to use the website for administrative issues – downloading

student work, creating and editing Quick marks etc

Disadvantages - Staff

• Need guidance on how to access the feedback• Some students believe the quick marks are not ‘individual feedback’• Students can only access the feedback whilst they have access to the

module MOLE site – can be an issues for returning students wanting to access feedback from the previous year • No group facility – only the student who submitted the assignment

can access the feedback

Disadvantages - Student

• More positive than negative issues/experiences

• Need time to set up

• Need to provide guidance to students
