Turnitin Lab Submission Lab reports are due at 5pm one week after your lab takes place

Late lab reports have 10 points deducted for each day they are late

1) Combine your lab report, data tables, plots, equations, diagrams, etc. into one file. This file should be in one of the following formats: .doc, .docx, .pdf.

2) Log into Black Board (https://blackboard.neu.edu/) and click on your lab class.

3) Click on “Assignments” located on the left panel as shown below

4) This will take you to the following screen. Click on the “View/Complete” link for the corresponding lab. Please see the figure below.

5) You will see a page like the one shown below. Your first and last name will automatically be entered for you. You then need to give your submission a title where indicated. Next, click on “Browse” and find your report. Finally click the “upload” button.

6) When the upload finishes, your page will look like this:

7) Next, you will need to preview your paper. This is just to check that you have uploaded the correct document. Your plots, data tables, and equations may not show up correctly when checking the preview. Don’t worry, when your TA grades the report, these will appear correctly. Once you have checked this. Click the “submit” button.

8) Congratulations, you have submitted your lab report. You will receive an email receipt confirming that your report has been received by the system. You need to forward this email to your TA when you receive it. If you don’t do this, 5 points will be deducted from your report. This is for your benefit. If the system for some reason loses your report, you will be able to resubmit if your TA has this receipt.

How To Check Your Grade/Comments on Turnitin

9) After one week’s time, your TA should have your lab report graded. In order to read your comments, first follow steps 1-4 for the given assignment.

10) You will be taken to the following page. Click on “Show details”

11) Then, you need to click on “View” under the GradeMark column

12) You will then be taken to the GradeMark version of your lab report. Your grade can be found in the upper right hand corner. Comments generally come in one of two forms, both of which can be seen below. The first can be seen written onto the paper itself. This is seen by the “-10 one day late”. The other types of comments show up as blue speech bubbles. You hover over these with your mouse to see the comment left by the TA. These are generally accompanied by a colored box which shows what the comment is about.

13) If you have a grading dispute, please speak to your TA first. If you are not satisfied with the solution, you can then bring it to the attention of the Lab Supervisor or one of the Lab Directors.

14) The TA has one week from the due date to have your reports graded. Please let the Lab Supervisor or one of the Lab Directors know if your TA falls behind on this. We usually have 100+ sections of lab running per semester. If a TA is falling behind on grading, the students usually catch it before the IPL staff does.
