This is common in hotels and other areas where public hotspots are available like Starbucks, McDonalds, Panera and more where “free Wi-Fi” is advertised. In this example Wi-Fi is turned on through the Setting menu.

This type of Wi-Fi network requires a Wireless Password which is common to home wireless networks and many public networks.

From the Home screen, touch Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks.

Confirm by touchingConnect.

From the Home screen, touch Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks. Touch Turn on Wi-Fi. Make sure green check appears. Touch Wi-Fi Settings.

Touch Wi-Fi settings to open.

Return to the Home screen and launch the Browser by touching the Browser Icon.

When your phone completes a scan, touch a Wi-Fi network to connect. For this example 3USX5 is selected.

Touch Wi-Fi to turn on. Scanning for available networks will start. Touch the network to beconnected. Note: byleaving Wi-Fi on andNetwork notification on the Gem will notify the user with networks are available.

A login screen will be displayed when the browser is started. Touch Continue to go to the next step.

When connecting to a secure network you are required to enter a Password. Touch the text box to open keypad. Enter the required password and touch Done > Connect.

Touch the Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy to review. After reviewing touch the back key. Touch the Check next to I agree to the Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy. Press Continue.

The Wi-Fi Networks is nowConnected.

The browser can now be redirected to other sites.

Note: Home networks commonly use a network key that is either self selected, automatically created or pre-populated by the wireless router. If you have not self selected a network key during the setup of your home wireless network the key is often located on the wireless router. Please consult the instructions for your home wireless network router.
