What is Greenhouse effect?
The greenhouse effect is a process by which thermal radiation from a planetary surface is absorbed by atmospheric greenhouse gases, and is re-radiated in all directions. It results in an elevation of the average surface temperature above what it would be in the absence of the gases.

What is Carbon Credit and What says Kyoto Protocol ?
Kyoto protocol
Partner countries have established the greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction
targets in accordance with Kyoto Protocol.
It says that a party that has exceeded the permitted number of emissions is
obliged either to purchase carbon credits from the projects’ developers to fix
the misbalance, or pay penalties to the state.
Carbon Credit
A permit that allows the holder to emit one ton of carbon dioxide. Carbon
credits can be traded in the international market at their current market price.

Kyoto Protocol covers six basic greenhouse gases, each of them has different effect on the global climate.

Georgia in International Area
Georgia ratified the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC or “Convention”) in 1994 as non-Annex I country with the economy in transition.
In 1999 Georgian Parliament ratified the Kyoto Protocol.
In November 2004, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the area of CDM projects was signed by theGovernment of Georgia .
On April 12, 2010, Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava signed the Covenant of Mayors.
