In Turkey, the Erdogan government is in a frenzy of repression of civil society and the Kurdish movement. Since the failed military coup of July 2016, over 130 000 civil servants have been dismissed and over 43 000 people detained. A few weeks ago, the EU Turkey Civic Commission organised a delegation of politicians, journalists and academics to do a fact finding mission on the crackdown and the case of the 'Kurdish Mandela', Abdullah Öcalan.
